Turn everyday gameplay into a server-wide achievement hunt!

Reward exploration, combat, building, collecting, survival—and the occasional questionable decision involving a Creeper.

INSTALLATION • WIKI • SOURCE CODE • DISCORD SUPPORT

Requirements & Compatibility

  • Java requirement: Java 21
  • Server software: Spigot and Paper
  • Tested Minecraft versions: 1.18, 1.19, 1.20, 1.20.6, 1.21, 26.1 and 26.2

Make Every Adventure Count

Vanilla advancements are great, but every server has its own story.

Advanced Achievements lets you turn that story into configurable objectives, satisfying rewards, competitive rankings and flashy celebrations. Build a relaxed progression system for an SMP, create brutal challenges for a survival server, or reward the wonderfully strange things your community does every day.

The Walking Dead achievement example

55 Achievement Categories

Advanced Achievements contains 55 built-in category types, including 44 milestone categories, 10 subcategory-based categories and special command achievements.

Track activities such as:

  • Building and crafting: blocks placed or broken, items crafted, anvils, enchanting, smelting and farming
  • Combat: entity kills, player kills, arrows, target blocks and custom-named mobs
  • Exploration: distance travelled by foot, horse, boat, minecart, pig, llama, elytra or while sneaking
  • Survival: deaths, food, potions, brewing, beds, fishing, treasures, raids and riptide uses
  • Server activity: connections, playtime, commands entered, items collected and custom statistics
  • Optional integrations: Jobs Reborn levels and PetMaster transfers
  • Special events: create achievements awarded manually through commands

Some categories require an optional integration or may be disabled by default. You decide which objectives belong on your server.

What Players Get

  • Customizable achievement GUI: Browse categories, rewards, completion dates and live progress from an inventory interface.
  • Achievement books: Generate collectible, shareable books containing a player's accomplishments.
  • Competitive rankings: Compare all-time, weekly and monthly achievement hunters.
  • Vanilla advancement integration: Generate your custom achievements inside the advancement interface.
  • Memorable celebrations: Use fireworks, particles, sounds, titles, action bars, boss bars, chat messages and advancement toasts.
  • Progress everywhere: Export achievement totals and statistics through PlaceholderAPI.

Rewards Worth Hunting For

Achievements can reward players with:

  • Items and custom-named items
  • Experience
  • Economy currency through Vault
  • Increased maximum health
  • Increased maximum oxygen
  • One or more console commands
  • Special rewards for completing every configured achievement

Run permission, crate, cosmetic or rank commands from an achievement reward—the server console handles the rest.

Built for Server Administrators

  • Deep YAML customization: Configure achievement names, descriptions, goals, icons, styles, rewards, thresholds and presentation.
  • Flexible restrictions: Exclude categories, worlds, game modes, NPC activity and other unwanted progression.
  • Four database engines: Choose H2, SQLite, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Network support: Use Bungee mode with a shared database across multiple servers.
  • 19 bundled language files: Customize every displayed message or build on an existing community translation.
  • Command permissions: Decide who can view progress, use rankings or access administrative actions.
  • Configurable performance: Adjust playtime checks, distance checks, statistic cooldowns and advancement generation speed.

Vanilla Advancement Integration

Generate configured achievements inside Minecraft's advancement interface with:

  • Custom root title and background
  • Achievement goal descriptions
  • Normal and rare display styles
  • Optional advancement-tab visibility
  • Configurable toast pop-ups
  • Batched generation to balance speed and server load

Use /aach generate after changing advancement-related settings.

Plugin Integrations

The following plugins have direct integration:

# AdvancedAchievements v11.7

A major stability and feature update focused on progressive achievements, brewing achievements, GUI accuracy, and localization.

## Specific Potion Recipe Achievements

  • Added support for achievements based on brewing specific potion types.
  • Potion achievements can now match:

  • Item type, such as LINGERING_POTION
  • Exact Paper PotionType, such as TURTLE_MASTER
  • Added configurable achievements for all 19 craftable potion effects.
  • Default configuration uses the more difficult lingering potion variants where applicable.
  • Strong and extended duplicates are intentionally omitted.
  • Existing numeric Brewing achievements for total potions brewed continue to work normally.

Specific potion achievements include support for:

  • Persistence
  • GUI progress
  • Commands
  • Resets
  • Cooldowns
  • Placeholders

## Fixed

### Progressive / Multi-Tier Achievements

  • Fixed an issue where multi-tier achievements could fail to award when thresholds were internally stored in the wrong order.
  • Progressive achievements are now evaluated individually at every configured threshold.
  • Players can correctly receive lower achievement tiers even if a higher threshold is processed first.
  • Achievement thresholds are now restored in the correct subcategory and threshold order when achievement data is rebuilt.
  • Prevented incorrect achievement ordering from stopping evaluation of other eligible tiers.

For example:

1 → 20 → 100

Each tier will now be awarded independently as the player reaches it.

### Achievement GUI

  • Fixed completed achievement tiers occasionally appearing as incomplete while their database save was still processing asynchronously.
  • Made the received-achievement cache thread-safe for simultaneous achievement processing and asynchronous GUI loading.

### Advancement / Category Ordering

  • Preserved achievement ordering by subcategory and threshold.
  • Prevented achievements from different subcategories from becoming interleaved.
  • Keeps advancement chains and category GUI ordering consistent.

## Internal Improvements

  • Improved achievement threshold processing reliability.
  • Improved synchronization between achievement awarding, database persistence, and GUI loading.
  • Added additional regression coverage for progressive achievements and achievement-map rebuilding.
  • Added dedicated tests using thresholds such as AnvilsUsed: 1, 20, 100.
  • Verified reverse-inserted achievement tiers are still awarded in the correct progression.
  • Verified potion recipe matching and threshold processing in the packaged plugin.

## Added

### Ukrainian Translation

  • Added full Ukrainian language support.

  • Removed all permission requirements from normal achievement progression.
  • Players can now earn achievements without achievement.<Name>, category, subcategory, count, or other dynamically generated permissions.
  • Removed achievement permission checks from event listeners, statistic-based achievements, the GUI, and /aach give.
  • /aach give still requires the sender to have achievement.give, but the target player no longer needs permission for the achievement itself.
  • DisabledCategories is now the only configuration option used to disable entire achievement categories.
  • Removed the obsolete HideNoPermissionCategories setting and related permission/language entries.
  • Achievement advancement synchronization failures are now non-fatal and can no longer prevent achievements from being saved, cached, or rewarded.
  • Existing restrictions for disabled worlds, game modes, NPCs, cancelled events, and disabled categories remain unchanged.
  • Added regression tests covering permission-free achievement progression and the preserved restriction system.

[11.4] hotfix gui.yml by LucidAPs on Oct 15, 2026
Download
Fixed and built.

Root cause: GUIItems treated the fallback Item key as an achievement type, producing Item.Item.

Loader now supports both direct fallback items and typed items (normal, rare), including reload cache clearing: GUIItems.java

Added regression coverage: GUIItemsTest.java
## Fixed

  • Fixed the plugin not loading when multiple achievements use duplicate DisplayName values.

  • Unique internal Name values are still enforced.
  • Blank display names remain invalid.

## Improved Achievement Loading

The plugin now continues loading when individual achievements contain invalid configuration instead of failing the entire plugin.

It now:

  • Skips malformed achievements while continuing to load valid ones.
  • Skips invalid or non-positive threshold entries.
  • Isolates malformed categories and subcategories.
  • Logs the exact configuration path for every skipped entry.
  • Prints a final count of skipped entries after loading.
  • Prevents failed entries from reserving advancement keys.

Global failures that make safe operation impossible, such as unreadable YAML files or invalid database settings, remain fatal.
This update focuses on making configuration reloads safer, reducing database work on the main server thread, and improving reliability under concurrent activity.

### Reload & Configuration Improvements

  • Reloads now properly preserve and re-register the advancement listener.**
  • Configuration-dependent scheduled tasks are fully cancelled and recreated** during reloads.
  • Added transactional configuration reloads.** Configuration is now parsed and validated in temporary state before being applied.

  • If validation fails, the previous working configuration remains active.
  • Failed reloads can no longer leave the plugin partially configured.
  • Added additional validation for:

  • Database types
  • Colors
  • Intervals and thresholds
  • Database table prefixes
  • Malformed configuration sections
  • Duplicate display names
  • Advancement-key collisions

### Performance Improvements

  • GUI, book, and ranking database reads now run asynchronously**, reducing unnecessary work on the main server thread.
  • Category GUI completion dates now use bulk database queries** instead of querying achievements individually.
  • Subcategory statistics now use bulk queries**, significantly reducing database requests when loading larger menus.
  • Improved concurrent cache initialization to prevent statistic updates from being lost during simultaneous operations.

### Reliability & Testing

  • Added regression tests covering:

  • Configuration rollback after failed reloads
  • Bundled configuration parsing
  • Advancement listener registration
  • Scheduled task recreation
  • Concurrent caching behavior
  • Bulk database operations

Overall, this release makes reloads considerably safer while reducing database overhead and improving stability on active servers.
