BoatCam
BoatCam is a mod which adds some useful and customizable tweaks to the player camera for a smooth boat racing experience.
This mod has been forked from Bstn1802's BoatCam, as it was no longer being maintained.
Examples of the BoatCam in action
- Makkuusen - Corkscrew Tunnel
- Renokas1 - LightSpeedII if you prefer shorts
Examples of vanilla camera (for comparison)
- Seth the Lasersloth - Tunelrun
- TechnoGustav - SoxxCircuit
Features
The configuration menu can be opened with 'B' by default, or via the ModMenu mod if you have installed.
- Camera yaw is automatically set, depending on your boat's direction and velocity.
- Configurable camera smoothness.
- Automatic perspective change when entering a boat.
- Keybind to look backwards
- Keybind to look left/right
- Configurable fixed pitch
- Bypass vanilla yaw restriction
Dependencies
These mods must be installed in order for this mod to work.
All Versions
+ Add Version- Introduce yaw modes. Each yaw mode is a different algorithm for calculating the camera yaw
- Directional mode (default) is the algorithm from previous versions, and interpolates the camera based on the direction the boat is facing.
- Velocity mode interpolates based on the boat's velocity.
- Removed the option for snapping the sideways view.
- Fixed an issue where entering/exiting a boat can mess with look behind

- Minecraft 26.1 port by [Hankwly5](https://github.com/Hankwly5)
- Fixed an issue where your perspective wouldn't reset properly when exiting a boat and looking backwards (for the Giftlift people)
- Add support for 1.21.9; by [BillBodkin](https://modrinth.com/user/BillBodkin)
- Added setting
Snap Sideways View - This removes smoothness when looking left/right in a boat via keybind. This is so that it is more responsive and acts similarly to the look behind keybind. Default off.
- Rewrote config backend
- BoatCam now requires
YetAnotherConfigLibinstead ofCloth Config. This makes the config menu easier to use and adds support for mods such as FancyMenu - Fixed many issues related to looking backwards and fixed pitch.
BoatCam will likely not be updated for versions lower than 1.21.3 from now on. 1.21.4 is becoming the new standard for ice boat racing, so update your Minecraft!
Support for <1.21.3 will probably not last, so I recommend updating to the newer versions of Minecraft.
If you are updating from any version of Boatcam, the default configuration values may not be applied.
