CarianStyle turns the Ashes of War, sorceries, incantations, talismans and Remembrances of Elden Ring into 113 enchantments. You get them like vanilla enchantments, from the enchanting table, the anvil and loot. Effects follow the original game where possible: flame enchantments need you to be on fire to reach full strength, star and moon enchantments are stronger at night, Remembrance enchantments are the rarest and conflict with each other, and some powerful enchantments have drawbacks.

All three versions have the same enchantments, numbers, effects and codex; on 1.21.1 and 1.12.2 a few edge cases follow that version's game rules.
Enchantment types
Enchantments come in five types. Apart from General ones, enchantments of the same type are mutually exclusive, so a piece of gear can only carry one of each:
- General (67): most of the mod: talismans, flames, stars, the Golden Order and more.
- Combat Arts (26): Ashes of War, i.e. weapon skills such as Stamp (Sweep), Repeating Thrust, Parry and Unsheathe. One per weapon.
- Remembrances (15): based on the Remembrance bosses. All of them sit in the rarest tier and are the strongest.
- Death (4): fire when you take a lethal hit (Contagious Fury: a hit that would drop you to 30% HP or lower), such as Scarlet Aeonia and Greatblade Phalanx.
- Laws (1): Stellar Order.
Rarity decides the maximum level: Uncommon enchantments go up to V (26), Rare ones up to III (51), and Very Rare ones only have level I (36). 23 of them are treasure enchantments that never appear at the enchanting table, only in loot. Two are curses.

Fully charged attacks on an infected target restore 10% of your max HP. |
| Millicent's Prosthesis | III | Sword | While empowered, damage dealt +[Level] x 5%. Fully charged attacks add a stack (each: attack damage +[Level] x 1%, attack speed +[Level] x 2%), lasting 1.5s. | Prayerful Strike (treasure) | I | Sword | In combat, charges once every 4s (the charge is lost if you don't strike within 4s of it filling, or if a creature hits you while it is ready). Your next attack deals an extra 2.5% of your max HP plus 7.5% of the target's current HP (at most 10% of the target's max HP), restores the same amount of HP, and permanently raises your max HP by half that value (at most 5% of your current maximum per hit; all of it is lost on death). |
| Sacred Blade | V | Sword | Damage against non-undead -80%. Against undead: deal up to an extra [Level] x 25% damage scaling with the target's current HP. On fully charged hits, also restore 20% of that bonus damage as HP (at most 10% of your max HP) and permanently weaken the target's attack damage by [Level] x 5% (stacks, up to 99%). |
| Vow of the Indomitable (treasure) | I | Chestplate | Scaling with lost HP, incoming damage has up to a 75% chance to be negated entirely. |
| Assassin's Gambit (treasure) | III | Sword | After taking a melee hit from a creature, become invisible for [Level] seconds. A melee hit while invisible breaks stealth and deals an extra [Level] x 25% damage (on a critical hit, the critical multiplier is doubled instead: 1.5x -> 3x). |
| Barrage | I | Bow | Bow draw speed x5. Arrow damage -50%. |
| Corpse Piler (treasure) | III | Sword | Melee kills have a 50% chance to grant a Corpse Pile stack: on fully charged attacks, each stack grants +[Level] x 1% damage and restores [Level] x 0.05% of max HP, up to 50 stacks (all stacks are lost after 5 minutes without gaining one; half are lost on death). |
| Cragblade | III | Sword | For 10s after dealing damage (dealing damage again restarts the timer): you cannot jump; attack power, armor and armor toughness +[Level] x 10% each; knockback resistance +[Level] x 10% (flat; 100% means full immunity). |

| Repeating Thrust | V | Sword | Each fully charged hit on the same target adds a stack, and each stack gives +[Level] x 5% damage (no cap; stacks clear after 10s without a fully charged hit, or when you switch targets). |
| Seppuku | I | Sword | Triggers on a fully charged hit at or above 75% HP: spend 50% of your max HP to enter Seppuku for 10s - lose 12.5% of max HP per second (can be fatal), movement speed +120% (decaying to +30%), damage +40%, attack speed +80%, armor and armor toughness -75%, healing received +60%. While in Seppuku, fully charged hits restore 25% of the damage as HP (at most 25% of your max HP) and inflict blood loss for 1.5s, draining 7% of the target's max HP. | Sword Dance (treasure) | I | Sword | Targets you attack receive no i-frames. Cost: your damage is further multiplied by your attack charge (minimum 40%). |
| Unsheathe | III | Sword | Each fully charged attack has a 1% chance to trigger an unsheathing strike: damage x[Level] x 330%, followed by [Level] x 3.3s of -75% attack speed. If it does not trigger, the chance increases by 0.5% (stacking, and resetting to 1% once triggered). |
| Vow of Vengeance | III | Sword | Damage dealt +[Level] x 2.5% for each creature within [Level] x 2 blocks (target included, up to 20), plus a further [Level] x 5% against the last creature that attacked you within 5s. |
| Blood Blade | III | Sword | Fully charged attacks consume 15% of your max HP (if you can't pay it you die, though a Totem of Undying can save you) to deal extra damage of up to [Level] x 33% plus [Level] x 3.3% of the target's current HP, scaled by your current HP ratio. |
| Rotten Winged Sword | V | Sword | Fully charged attacks add a stack (up to 20; each stack fades after 15s). Each stack: damage dealt +[Level] x 0.75%. |

Hits that are not fully charged deal 50% less damage to Omen-afflicted targets. |
| Placidusax's Rewind | I | Chestplate | Upon lethal damage, prevents death and grants 5s of invulnerability. Damage taken during that time is stored and reflected back at attackers; burns and bleeding drain no HP during it and aren't stored. | Destined Death | I | Sword | Fully charged attacks burn the target for 2% of its max HP plus 20% of the original damage over 2s, and reduce its max HP by 10% for 45s. Burn damage halved against bosses. |
| Those Who Live in Death | I | Chestplate | Upon lethal damage, prevents death and fully restores HP, then bleeds out rapidly and dies. (Dying while bleeding does not revive you again; 240s cooldown.) |
| Dark Moon | I | Sword | At night: magic damage taken -25%, fully charged melee magic damage +25%, healing received +25%, and gain Night Vision. When such a hit strikes a creature targeting you, it deals an extra 5% of the creature's current HP and restores 5% of the total damage as HP (at most 5% of your max HP). (If your armor has Full Moon: all values +50%.) |

| Stellar Order | I | Sword | At night: healing received +50%, movement speed +25%. Fully charged hits inflict Frostbite 1 on the target, and taking physical damage inflicts it on the attacker, for 10s (+1 level if already applied, up to 10). In-game screenshots
Many enchantments come with their own effects: magic circles, lightning, flames, a full moon, a blooming rot flower... All shots below are taken in game (with a shader pack).
Full Moon: cheats death and raises a full moon overhead, then keeps restoring health
Realm of Sorcery: players inside the circle, you included, deal 50% more magic damage
Thops's Barrier: nobody inside the barrier can deal or take magic damage
Holy Ground: while guarding, players in range take less damage, heal and gain a shield
Law of Regression: repeatedly clears every buff and debuff in range
Vyke's Dragonbolt: attacks call down red lightning, and in a thunderstorm every fully charged hit does
Unendurable Frenzy: every fully charged attack sets you ablaze, and the target with you
Scarlet Aeonia: on a lethal hit, a rot flower blooms and infects everything nearby
Enchantment Codex
Press K in game (rebindable in Controls) to open the codex:
- Browse and search every enchantment by name or effect text, grouped by type and theme.
- Detail page: what it does, which items accept it, what it conflicts with, where to get it, and every tunable number.
- Insert an item: pick a piece of gear from your inventory and instantly see which enchantments it can still take, which it already has, which are blocked by its current enchantments, and whether you need the enchanting table or an anvil.
- Other enchantments: vanilla and other mods' enchantments can be looked up here too.
- Effect toggles: particles, circles and on-screen indicators can be turned off per enchantment; this only changes your own screen.
Detail page: click a level to turn the formulas into actual numbers
Conflicts link to each other; tunable values list their defaults and allowed ranges
Insert an item: the list is grouped by what it can still take, and each entry says whether you need the enchanting table or an anvil
Other enchantments: vanilla and other mods' enchantments, with the same item check
Effect toggles: switch particles, circles and on-screen indicators off one by one; only your own screen changes
Getting enchantments
- Enchanting table: they show up alongside vanilla enchantments, weighted by rarity.
- Anvil: apply enchanted books to your gear.
- Loot: chests, fishing and mob-dropped enchanted books. Treasure enchantments only come from here.
- Villagers: by default they are kept out of librarian book trades, so a hundred-odd new entries do not bury Mending and the other vanilla books. This can be enabled in the config.
For server owners and modpack makers
- Config screen: select CarianStyle in the Mods list and click Config, or edit
config/carianstyle-common.tomldirectly. - Disable enchantments: add their IDs (e.g.
doomed_death) to the disable list. - Tune numbers:
config/carianstyle/enchantment_values.jsonlists every number of every enchantment with its allowed range. In single player, press Reload values in the codex to apply changes right away; on a server, restart it. Values the client needs for drawing (such as the size of a range circle) are synced to players when they join. Description texts do not change automatically, so update the language file if you want them to match. - How hard they are to get: turn a whole rarity tier into treasure enchantments, change the enchanting-table difficulty multiplier, choose whether rarity weights apply, and allow or block villager trades.
- Mobs: mobs wearing enchanted gear trigger the effects too by default. Death-triggered enchantments and near-death revives such as Full Moon and Those Who Live in Death are off for mobs by default, so bosses do not revive or retaliate when you finish them. On servers with many enchanted mobs you can turn mob triggers off completely to save performance.
- Very high levels: if commands or other mods push enchantments far beyond their maximum level, enable Level limit or High-level decay so each extra level gives less (both off by default).
- PvP: stealth enchantments hide the hitbox too, so F3+B does not reveal invisible players. This follows the server's config.

- Included the Enchantment Codex (K) and the in-game config screen in the 1.21.1 version, with Cloth Config for the config screen bundled.
- Changed**
- Unlike the 1.20.1 version, Bedrock Blast drops no experience when chain-mining ores with a Silk Touch pickaxe.
- Unlike the 1.20.1 version, logging out or restarting during effects such as Quickstep or Invisibility no longer leaves attributes behind after the effect ends.
- Unlike the 1.20.1 version, disabled enchantments show no aura.
- Unlike the 1.20.1 version, drinking an Absorption potion while an enchantment shield is active no longer reduces the shield when the potion expires.
- Unlike the 1.20.1 version, bow enchantments combined with Power deal slightly different damage, since vanilla changed the arrow damage bonus of Power.
- Unlike the 1.20.1 version, multiple enchantments on one item are applied in order of enchantment name.
- Fixed**
- Fixed enchanted books held in hand triggering the enchantments stored in them, e.g. a Dark Moon book granting Night Vision.
- Fixed armor enchantments also taking effect and stacking when held in hand; Black Flame Ritual and Shabriri's Calamity no longer count the main hand.
- Fixed the same enchantment on main-hand and off-hand weapons being applied twice; only the higher-level one now applies.
- Upgrade notes**
- The 1.21.1 version requires NeoForge 21.1.265 or newer and must be installed on both client and server.
- After upgrading a 1.20.1 world to 1.21.1, this mod's enchantments on items and its status effects are kept; back up the world before upgrading.
- Changed**
- Unified the version number of the 1.12.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 builds as 2.3.2.
- Fixed**
- Fixed enchanted books held in hand triggering the enchantments stored in them, e.g. a Dark Moon book granting Night Vision.

- Fixed the same enchantment on main-hand and off-hand weapons being applied twice; only the higher-level one now applies.
- Upgrade notes**
- The network protocol is unchanged: the 1.20.1 build is compatible with 2.3.1 and the 1.12.2 build with 2.3.0. The fixes are server-side, so updating both client and server is recommended.

- Added**
- Added the Enchantment Codex, opened with K: browse by theme, search, switch levels to see exact numbers, and put in an item to see which enchantments it can take; enchantments from other mods are listed too.
- Added visual effects for status effects, combat arts, area spells, auras, ultimate spectacles, shield wards, glintblades and the three custom flames; combo stacks and cooldowns are now shown in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Added per-effect toggles for all 24 visual effects on the codex's Visual Effects page.
- Added
config/carianstyle/enchantment_values.jsonfor tuning every enchantment value; server-side changes are sent to players when they log in. - Added high-level decay, off by default.
- Changed**
- Synced all 113 enchantments with the 1.20.1 version: effects, numbers, trigger conditions and descriptions now match, with a few details following 1.12.2 rules as noted in the descriptions.
- Moved the config file to
config/carianstyle-common.cfg, with the same sections as the 1.20.1 version and editable from the in-game mod config screen. - Capped the radius and target count of area enchantments.
- Fixed**
- Fixed the burns of Destined Death, Blade of Death, Black Flame Blade and Unendurable Frenzy, as well as Hemorrhage, failing to kill targets with Resistance, and Scarlet Rot being fully blocked by Resistance.
- Fixed numbers, applicable slots and trigger conditions not matching the descriptions in more than twenty enchantments.
- Upgrade notes**
- Version 2.3.0 cannot connect with older 1.12.2 versions; update client and server together.
- On first launch, the old
carianstyle.cfgis migrated to the new file automatically and renamed tocarianstyle.cfg.migrated. - Leftover hidden enchantment effects in old saves are removed automatically, and max health and other attributes return to normal; these effects are no longer written to saves, the same as the 1.20.1 version.
- On a dedicated server, editing the
.cfgfile by hand requires a restart to take effect.
- Added**
- Added the value
victim_amplifier_cap, defaulting to 5 for Protection of the Erdtree and 9 for Golden Vow, adjustable inconfig/carianstyle/enchantment_values.json.
- Changed**
- Capped the level Protection of the Erdtree gains when attacked at 5, so its damage negation no longer exceeds 100% and turns damage into healing.
- Capped the level Golden Vow gains when attacked at 9, so it no longer grants full immunity.
- Changed Crucible Feather so that with several pieces the damage multiplier uses the total level across the armor instead of multiplying per piece; invulnerability time, Speed and Jump Boost use the highest piece.
- Changed Starlight's light level to the total Starlight level across the armor times 3, up to 15; previously it was always 15.
- Changed the speed bonuses of Quickstep and Stellar Order to multiply; previously only the higher one applied.
- Fixed**
- Fixed some modded creatures not dying from the burns of Destined Death, Blade of Death, Black Flame Blade and the frenzied flame enchantments.
- Fixed Resistance fully negating the lethal hit of Hemorrhage and Seppuku and the damage of Scarlet Rot; Scarlet Rot now ignores Resistance, while Protection still reduces it.
- Fixed the HP costs of Blood Blade and Seppuku bringing the holder to 0 HP without killing them; if the cost cannot be paid the holder dies normally, and a Totem of Undying can prevent the death.
- Fixed burns and bleeding still draining HP during Placidusax's Rewind.
- Fixed Those Who Live in Death continuing to bleed and executing the player after respawning if they were killed by other damage while bleeding.
- Fixed the magic damage reduction of Dark Moon not applying to players.
- Fixed the “damage taken -25%” of Sacred Order not working, and changing dimensions or logging back in granting a full absorption shield repeatedly; the shield is now granted only the first time a world is entered each life.
- Fixed the Quickstep speed bonus not going down after healing.
- Fixed Cragblade's “cannot jump” only applying on the server, and its knockback resistance bonus doing nothing without existing knockback resistance; the bonus is now added directly.
- Fixed the Stellar Order speed bonus being 1% too high; it is now +25%.
- Fixed Glintstone Fling not working on the same sword as Adula's Moonblade or Forsaken Child of Darkness.
- Fixed Bedrock Blast having the same range at level III as at level II, now 7×7×7; a pickaxe with 1 durability left no longer mines, so it will not break.
- Fixed Bestial Constitution, Bestial Vitality and Lucidity removing effects with infinite duration.
- Fixed the first max HP gain of Prayerful Strike after each respawn ignoring the 5% limit, and the holder not hearing the charge sound.
- Fixed Scarlet Aeonia, Greatblade Phalanx and Contagious Fury using one fixed armor piece when worn on several pieces; they now use the highest level.
- Upgrade notes**
- The network protocol version has changed: client and server mus
- Added**
- Added the high-level decay config section
[levelDecay], off by default: once an enchantment goes past its maximum level, its effective level is reduced along a curve so each extra level gives less, for cases where commands or other mods push enchantments to dozens or hundreds of levels. - Measured the default decay curve in multiples of the enchantment's maximum level, so enchantments capped at I, III and V are weakened by the same proportion; the default curve is 2:90, 4:75, 6:65, 10:50, 15:40, 20:33, 40:20.
- Added an effective-level display to enchantment names when decay is enabled, which can be turned off with
showInName; the codex detail page also shows where decay starts and reference values, and the in-game config screen has the matching options.
- Changed**
- Rewrote the descriptions of all 113 enchantments against their actual behavior, correcting numbers and trigger conditions that did not match in 87 of them and stating conditions that were never mentioned, such as fully charged attacks only or melee only; the Enchantment Codex shows the new descriptions.
- Toned down Destined Death and Blade of Death to match the original game: the max HP reduction goes from 25% to 10% and lasts 45 seconds, and the two still share one effect that does not stack.
- Changed Destined Death's burn to deal 2% of max HP plus 20% of the hit's damage over 2 seconds, previously 50% of the hit's damage plus 10% of current HP over 5 seconds; Blade of Death's burn goes from 75% to 50% of the hit's damage.
- Halved the burn damage of Destined Death and Blade of Death against bosses; bosses are detected by the
forge:bossesandcarianstyle:bossestags and by an active boss health bar, and thecarianstyle:not_bossestag excludes entities. - Changed Bedrock Blast to ask claim and protection mods before mining each extra block and skip any that are denied, so it no longer digs along stone into someone else's claim.
- Renamed the Recollections category in the Enchantment Codex to Remembrances.
- Replaced outdated names in the effect toggles and tunable value descriptions with the official enchantment and status effect names.
- Relabeled the two Black Flame Protection values by what they actually do: physical damage reduction and healing reduction.
- Improved the English codex: picking a level now turns formulas into numbers in English descriptions too, and text wraps by word with each sentence on its own line.
- Added a large explosion cloud to the explosions of Loretta's Greatbow and Loretta's Mastery; damage and radius are unchanged.
- Optimized damage-over-time handling when a player carries many such effects at once, for example wearing Warrior while being swarmed: all health loss in the same tick is applied in one go, so hybrid servers no longer slow down during long fights.
- Changed the license to CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
- Fixed**
- Fixed the Dark Moon ring not showing on the client, and the status indicators of Moon of Nokstella, Forsaken Ch
- Added**
- Added “Put an item” to the codex: click the item slot next to the search box and pick an item from the inventory, and both pages group enchantments into “Can be applied / Too expensive at the anvil / Already on it / Blocked by existing”, while a verdict card at the top of the detail page explains whether it can be applied at the enchanting table or anvil, the upgrade path and the reason for any conflict.
- Based “Put an item” results on survival-mode anvil and enchanting table rules; the codex reads the client's local config, so results may differ when it does not match the server's.
- Added the client-only config file
config/carianstyle/client_visual.jsonfor adjusting the stack HUD's position, scale, row gap, column width, maximum columns, opacity and decorative animations, plus a master switch for effects and toggles, size and offsets for flames and first-person flames. - Added the server config option
hideStealthHitboxto toggle hiding stealthed players' hitboxes; it is enabled by default, supports hot reload and is available in the in-game config screen.
- Changed**
- Changed Omen, Miquella's Blade, Vyke's Dragonbolt, Dung Eater, Corpse Piler, Stamp (Upward Cut), Repeating Thrust, Sacred Blade, Stamp (Sweep), Blade of Death, “Flame, Devour Them All”, Godskin Swaddling Cloth, Sleep Mist and Scarlet Rot to require a fully charged swing, preventing click-spamming from breaking balance; “fully charged” now consistently means attack strength above 90%.
- Changed Blade of Death, Omen and Miquella's Blade to only pay their cost without any benefit when not fully charged, so spamming is never stronger than a fully charged hit.
- Hid stealthed players' hitboxes and shadows, so F3+B can no longer be used to see through stealth.
- Changed Double Slash and Unsheathe to resolve only once per swing, and Unsheathe's attack speed penalty now takes effect one tick later.
- Changed the area effects of “Flame, Devour Them All” and Adula's Moonblade to no longer hit the holder, creatures of the same kind, teammates or the holder's own pets and mounts; the target hit by Adula's Moonblade now always receives Frostbite.
- Changed the death message, cause of death and damage events when Unendurable Frenzy, Frenzied Burst or Howl of Shabriri kill their holder through self-damage to match a vanilla damage death, so grave and death-log mods can recognize it.
- Relaxed the format of the
uninstallEnchantmentoption: it now accepts acarianstyle:prefix, any letter case, quotes or square brackets, comma separation and language keys, which were previously ignored silently; entries matching no enchantment are reported in the log at startup. - Stripped disabled enchantments from items dropped into the world automatically, turning emptied enchanted books into plain books; contents generated directly in loot chests are excluded.
- Changed the stack HUD to collapse and show how many entries are hidden when it cannot fit everything, and to stay inside the
- Added**
- Added an in-game Enchantment Codex, opened with K by default and rebindable in the vanilla controls settings.
- Included all 113 Carian enchantments in the codex, grouped into 25 themes such as Stars, Frenzied Flame, Mohgwyn Dynasty, Golden Order and Scarlet Rot, and sorted from lowest to highest rarity within each group.
- Added enchantment detail pages showing the effect description, applicable item types, normal maximum level, equipment slots, how to obtain it, enchanting table weight and level requirement, conflicting enchantments and tunable values.
- Added keyword search to the codex; conflicting enchantments can be clicked to jump to them, with a way back after jumping.
- Added per-level descriptions: clicking a level turns formulas such as “[Level] × 20s” into concrete numbers, or switches back to the formula view.
- Added an “Other Enchantments” tab listing the enchantments of vanilla and every installed mod, grouped by mod with vanilla first, with two-way conflict navigation to and from Carian enchantments.
- Added support for the common
.desc/.descriptionkey convention, so mods such as Enchantment Descriptions supply vanilla descriptions automatically; 39 built-in fallback descriptions for vanilla enchantments are used when none exist. - Added
config/carianstyle/enchantment_values.json, exposing 412 values across 110 enchantments to server owners, including damage multipliers, trigger chances, cooldowns, radii, durations and stack caps. - Added automatic generation of the value file on first launch; later launches keep edited values and add new entries, and out-of-range values are clamped to the allowed range and logged instead of causing a startup failure.
- Added a value list to the codex showing each value's localized name, current effective value, default and allowed range, with edited entries highlighted.
- Added a “Reload Values” button to the codex that applies value changes without a restart.
- Synced values the client also needs, such as the Gravitas field radius and the Concealing Veil combat timer, from the server on login, keeping visuals consistent with actual behavior.
- Completed hand-drawn visual effects for all enchantments, covering status effects, combat arts, area circles, ultimate spectacles and the stack HUD.
- Added a Visual Effects panel as the second tab of the codex, with individual toggles for 24 effects and per-category bulk enable and disable, all on by default; turning off effects that carry combat information, such as hemorrhage, frostbite and range indicators, shows a warning.
- Added
config/carianstyle/visual_toggle.json, a client-side file that stores the effect toggle states. - Added a full English localization: en_us was previously a copy of the Chinese file and is now fully translated, with enchantment names following the official Elden Ring English terms where possible; both language files have 952 entries with matching keys.
- Added a config option to control whether all Ca
- Added**
- Added a config option to control whether all Carian enchantments apply to mobs (non-player entities).
- Changed**
- Changed death-related enchantments to no longer trigger when mobs die; this can be toggled in the config.
- Optimized the performance of all enchantments and fully aligned their behavior with their descriptions.
- Capped the effective range of all area-of-effect enchantments at high levels to prevent value overflow.
- Fixed**
- Fixed shield, sword and bow enchantments being assigned to the wrong enchantment categories.
- Fixed game crashes caused by the attribute system.
