CBC: Firepower Components

CBC: Firepower Components is a small addon for Create Big Cannons. It adds a few compact blocks for building tighter cannon setups and handling ammunition with Create-style automation.

Features

  • Compact Cannon Mount - a one-block side-mounted mount for big cannons.
  • Compact Autocannon Mount - a smaller mount for autocannons and handle autocannons.
  • Autocannon Ammo Feed - feeds loose autocannon rounds into adjacent assembled compact autocannon mounts.
  • Cannon Magazine Loader - a three-round external magazine for assembled big cannon mounts.

The Cannon Magazine Loader accepts projectile and powered-cartridge pairs, waits until all three rounds are ready, then feeds the mounted cannon. Spent empty big cartridges can be extracted from the sides, back, or bottom with normal item automation.

Note

Since art and modeling are not my strong suit, most of the visual assets were made with AI assistance and then adjusted for the mod.

## 中文

### Radar

  • Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge
  • Create 6.0.x
  • Create Big Cannons 5.11.7
  • Ritchie’s Projectile Library 2.1.2

Radar 和 Sable 均为可选依赖。本次更新仅针对 NeoForge 1.21.1,Forge 1.20.1 分支不变。

## English

### Radar Compatibility
  • Added support for Radar 5.0 EA 3.1.3, prioritizing its new public mount, weapon, and ballistics APIs while retaining compatibility with Radar 0.4.9.4.
  • Fixed turrets continuing to aim using the initial target position after automatic target selection through a data-link network.
  • Added bounded compensation for recent scan latency using the velocity reported by Radar, improving aim against moving targets.
  • Fixed cached automatic-fire state persisting after a data link was removed.
  • Ballistic parameters and muzzle positions now reflect the ammunition actually loaded. Empty weapons and unsupported ammunition are no longer reported as ready to fire.
  • Completed Radar 4.9 automatic-fire integration, including stop handling for empty ammunition, invalid targets, removed firing controllers, and disconnected data links.

### Sable Moving-Ship Compatibility
  • Corrected aiming coordinate transforms on moving and tilted ships.
  • Projectile inheritance of ship velocity now follows the CBC configuration.

### Testing and Validation
Server integration tests passed for:
  • Actual radar scanning, connections established using the data-link item, and target exclusion through filters.
  • Automatic target selection through the data-link network, turret tracking, and automatic fire.
  • Real projectile impacts against moving targets, including slow and fast lateral movement at an initial forward distance of 45 blocks, and movement in the opposite lateral direction at 90 blocks.
  • Stopping fire after a data link is removed.
  • Aiming and firing from moving, tilted Sable ships.
  • Automatic fire with Radar 0.4.9.4, startup and rotation with Radar 5.0 EA 1.2.2, and startup without Radar installed.

These results cover specific test scenarios and do not establish hit performance across every ship, ammunition type, range, or modpack. A complete manual walkthrough of the client interface has not yet been validated, nor have projectile impacts against moving Sable ship targets.

### Version and Dependencies
  • Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge
  • Create 6.0.x
  • Create Big Cannons 5.11.7
  • Ritchie’s Projectile Library 2.1.2

Radar and Sable are optional dependencies. This update applies only to NeoForge 1.21.1; the Forge 1.20.1 branch is unchanged.
upported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge 21.1.x
  • Create 6.0.x
  • Create Big Cannons 5.11.7
  • Create: Radar 4.9 continues to use the legacy compatibility path; Create: Radar 5.0 EA uses the new official mount-API path.
  • The Forge 1.20.1 line is maintained separately and is not updated by this release.

### Create: Radar 5.0 EA compatibility

  • Registered the Compact Cannon Mount, Compact Autocannon Mount, and Vertical Compact Cannon Mount through Radar's official mount API.
  • Added the CBC weapon context still required by Radar 5.0 beyond its public mount adapter, allowing the data-link network to establish its complete tracking, ballistic-solution, and firing flow.
  • Forwarded the real output of Radar's fire controller to the associated compact mount.
  • Explicitly stops firing after target loss, data-link changes, mount reassignment, or fire-controller chunk unload, preventing a mount from continuing to fire at its last commanded point.
  • Kept the Radar 4.9 legacy Mixins mutually exclusive with the Radar 5.0 API integration.

### Mount and automatic-control fixes

  • The Automatic Cannon Controller can now provide a virtual firing signal to CBC's fixed cannon mount.
  • Fixed mounts retain their normal physical redstone input; either physical redstone or the automatic controller may independently keep the mount firing.
  • Continuous fire now uses fail-closed level control and stops when its control signal or mount association disappears.

### Crash and model fixes

  • Fixed a server crash when a player dismounted from a downward-facing Vertical Compact Cannon Mount. The old path attempted a horizontal rotation of the vertical DOWN direction.
  • Dismount placement now converts a vertical cannon direction to the mount's horizontal reference before checking nearby clearance and floor support.
  • Restored missing sliding-block state models for the single-barrel large-autocannon breech.
  • Normalized the breech texture-slot references to fix incorrect materials and stacked UV rendering.

### Validation

  • Compared the integration against the actual Create: Radar 5.0-EA-1.2.2-1.21.1 JAR, including its public API, CBC mount context, weapon-network lookup, and fire-controller bytecode signatures.
  • The NeoForge 1.21.1 release build completed successfully.
  • Confirmed in the complete mod stack that compact mounts accept Radar 5.0 EA yaw, pitch, tracking, and automatic-fire control.

Supported versions

  • Main release:** Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge, Create 6.0.x, and Create Big Cannons 5.11.7.
  • Maintenance build:** Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge 0.3.2, Create 6.0.8, and Create Big Cannons 5.11.4.
  • The Forge 1.20.1 build is maintained separately and does not include every NeoForge 0.4.0 feature.

### Interface rebuild

  • Rebuilt the Carousel Ready Rack, Ready Ammunition Compartment, Automatic Cannon Controller, and Cannon Limiter screens around one compact Create-inspired military interface.
  • Reduced and rearranged screen layouts so they remain usable at lower GUI resolutions.
  • Fixed the Automatic Cannon Controller configuration screen not opening reliably. It now opens whether the player is empty-handed or holding an item.
  • Moved manual firing into the controller screen to avoid conflicts with the interaction used to open it.
  • Condensed controller goggle information into two status lines so the icon no longer covers the text.

### Models, textures, and UVs

  • Rebuilt the Carousel Ready Rack and Ready Ammunition Compartment models, inventory displays, material regions, and internal ammunition presentation.
  • Reworked the empty, half-full, and full Spent Casing Collector states and its inventory model for clearer casing piles.
  • Compressed the Vertical Compact Cannon Mount side panels, supports, and proportions so its trunnion operates one block above the base.
  • Corrected large-autocannon barrel, breech, sliding-block, and muzzle-brake orientation, collision, and overlapping UV issues.
  • Removed multiple duplicate faces and stacked texture regions that caused flicker, black surfaces, or missing-texture rendering.

### Gameplay and compatibility fixes

  • The Cannon Limiter can now be installed on normal CBC cannon mounts while retaining compact-mount angle limits, persistence, and removal.
  • Compact mounts now check nearby clearance and floor support when choosing a dismount position.
  • The Cannon Magazine Loader now recognizes CBC fixed cannon mounts.
  • Fixed a loader deadlock when complete and incomplete ammunition groups were stored at the same time.
  • Retained ordered projectile, propellant, and fuze insertion and the standard CBC ammunition-input bridge used by compatible addons.
  • Added optional Vestalihy recognition for this mod's compact cannon mount.
  • Retained the CBC mount-input compatibility path used by addons such as CBC Neo Warfare.

### Validation

  • The NeoForge 1.21.1 build completed and reached a successful dedicated-server startup with CBC 5.11.7.
  • A Vestalihy 2.5.3 and Sable 2.0.5 compatibility stack also reached a successful dedicated-server startup.
  • The Forge 1.20.1 / Create 6.0.8 / CBC 5.11.4 line passed the build and mod-loading stages.

  • CBC: Firepower Components 0.3.2**

  • Added mount/control compatibility data for more addon cannon types, including CBC: Advanced Technologies, CBC: Military Supplement / cbcmoreshells, and CBC Modern Warfare-style cannon families.
  • Added support data for heavy autocannons, twin autocannons, manual twin autocannons, rocket pods, medium rocket pods, dual cannons, projectile racks, torpedo tubes, medium cannons, mounted launchers, and rotary cannons where their mounted contraption data is available.
  • Added the Large Autocannon Ammo Box, with 64 normal rounds + 64 tracer rounds capacity.
  • Improved large autocannon ammo box handling, menu behavior, item validation, and compatibility with CBC's ammo container system.
  • Improved mounted weapon item input through a shared strategy layer, so compact mounts can route inserted items more safely to mounted weapons.
  • Improved mechanical arm and item-handler insertion behavior for compact cannon mounts.
  • Added an initial compatibility layer for Create: Radars on NeoForge 1.21.1.
  • Compact cannon mounts can now be selected by the Create: Radars data link.
  • Added adapter logic for radar yaw and pitch controllers to drive compact cannon mounts without inheriting from vanilla CBC cannon mounts.
  • Added development groundwork for broader heavy, twin, rocket, and addon weapon compatibility.

Notes:
  • Create: Radars compatibility is an early implementation. Please report issues with automatic aiming, firing, or controller setups.
  • Addon weapon compatibility currently focuses on mounting/control and safe item routing. Some special launcher or addon ammunition systems may still need dedicated support.
