Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns

About

Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns is a large-scale spawn expansion designed to make Pokémon feel naturally integrated into Minecraft's world.

Instead of relying on broad biome categories, each species can use detailed conditions based on biomes, dimensions, structures, terrain, blocks, weather, time, altitude and spawn position.

The result is a much deeper exploration system where changing environments genuinely changes which Pokémon you encounter.

From familiar Overworld habitats to the Nether, End and entirely new dimensions, every region offers its own Pokémon ecosystem.

✨ What It Adds

  • 1,025 dedicated Pokémon spawn files
  • 284 biome and environmental tags
  • 34 reusable spawn condition presets
  • 51 specialized Pokémon habitats
  • 708 herd and Alpha spawn configuration files
  • Detailed biome, climate and terrain-based encounters
  • Structure-aware Pokémon spawning
  • Ground, submerged, surface-water and fishing encounters
  • Block, vegetation, ore and environmental conditions
  • Dedicated Nether, End and modded dimension ecosystems
  • Regional forms and Vivillon biome logic
  • PokéSnack-compatible spawn entries
  • Extensive compatibility with major biome and world-generation mods
  • Designed for large modpacks and multiplayer servers

🌿 Spawn Environments

Pokémon spawning can depend on much more than a simple biome check.

The datapack includes encounters across a wide variety of environments:

  • Forests & Vegetation: Forests, jungles, taigas, grasslands, floral and overgrown biomes.
  • Dry & Arid Regions: Deserts, badlands, savannas and other hot environments.
  • Aquatic Environments: Rivers, oceans, reefs, submerged terrain, seafloors and surface waters.
  • Mountains & Peaks: High-altitude areas, cliffs, mountain ranges and elevated terrain.
  • Caves & Underground: Underground environments, deep caves, ores and specific blocks.
  • Cold Regions: Snowy, frozen, icy and glacial environments.
  • Volcanic Regions: Thermal landscapes, lava-adjacent habitats and volcanic terrain.
  • Nether Ecosystems: Fungal forests, basalt regions, Soul Sand environments and Nether wastelands.
  • End Ecosystems: End forests, grasslands, crystal environments and barren landscapes.
  • Space & Planets: Planetary, orbital and other supported space environments.

Spawn rules can also react to weather, time of day, light level, altitude, vegetation, fluids and specific blocks.

A single Pokémon species can have multiple possible encounters with different environmental conditions and rarity levels.

🏛️ Structure Encounters

Some Pokémon are associated with structures and special locations rather than traditional biomes alone.

Supported environments include locations such as:

  • Ancient Cities
  • Strongholds
  • Woodland Mansions
  • Ocean Monuments
  • Ocean Ruins
  • Ruined Portals
  • Pillager Outposts
  • Desert Pyramids
  • Jungle Temples
  • Trail Ruins
  • End Cities
  • Nether Fortresses
  • Nether Fossils
  • Bastion environments
  • Deeper and Darker Ancient Temples

Compatibility is also included for selected YUNG's Better Structure replacements.

These encounters encourage exploration beyond ordinary biome hunting, giving certain Pokémon more specific locations where they can be discovered.

✨ Special Encounters & Spawn Mechanics

Beyond general biome compatibility, the datapack includes additional mechanics and carefully configured encounters.

  • PokéSnack Spawns: Additional entries using PokéSnack-compatible spawn conditions.
  • Submerged Encounters: Expanded underwater spawning for aquatic Pokémon.
  • Melmetal: Ultra Rare encounters in the Deep Dark.
  • Vivillon: Pattern-specific spawning influenced by environmental conditions.
  • Gimmighoul: Updated roaming encounter behavior.
  • Manaphy & Phione: Fishing encounters with lure-related requirements.
  • Regice: Grounded encounters in suitable glacial environments.
  • Jirachi, Helioptile, Heliolisk, Cacturne & Flygon: Additional biome options.
  • Herds & Alphas: Additional group-oriented and Alpha encounter configurations.
  • Habitats: Specialized spawning environments beyond regular biome categories.

These systems are designed to make discovering different Pokémon a meaningful part of exploring Minecraft's world.

📦 Requirements

Minecraft: 1.21.1
Cobblemon: 1.8+
Type: Data Pack
Current Version: 6.1.2
Data Pack Format: 48
Required Dependency: Cobblemon

The current datapack targets Minecraft 1.21.1 and Cobblemon 1.8+.

Older releases for previous Minecraft and Cobblemon versions remain available separately in the Files tab.

📖 Documentation

Want to know where a particular Pokémon spawns, which biome tags it uses or how different environmental conditions work?

A dedicated guide is available on the Cobblemon Realms Wiki, covering Pokémon encounters, biome tags, dimensions and spawning mechanics.

➜ Pokémon & Spawns Wiki

You can also use Cobblemon's /checkspawns command in-game to inspect possible encounters around your current location.

Installation

  1. Download the datapack .zip.
  2. Place it directly inside your world's datapacks folder.
  3. Restart your world or server, or run /reload.
  4. Explore the new Pokémon spawning environments!

Multiplayer: Install the datapack on the server only. Players do not need to download it individually.

If other datapacks modify the same Cobblemon spawn files, datapack priority may affect which rules take precedence.

# Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns v6.2.2

## Fixes

  • Split Flying-type world-spawn biome selectors into filtered positive tags covering 81 underground/cave biome candidates, including the named Terralith and YUNG caves and the missed Darker Depths biomes. No cave anti-conditions were added.
  • Removed 15 cave-only Flying routes, 33 Bumblezone-only Flying rules, and Flying members from three mixed Bumblezone herds. The remaining non-Flying herd members retain their original Bumblezone biome selectors. The release has 720 Flying-type world-spawn rules (412 individual, 308 herd), down from 771 in v6.2.1.
  • Removed 83 Flying-type entries from 15 underground-compatible habitat pools because Cobblemon 1.8.2 habitat entries have no per-entry biome condition.
  • Lowered all three world-spawn minY: 100 thresholds to 85 for Swablu, Latias, and Latios.
  • Updated Latias and Latios to use the filtered overworld tag and removed their cave anti-conditions. Both retain canSeeSky: true.

Designed for Cobblemon 1.8+ and Minecraft 1.21.1 only.
# Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns v6.2.1

## Fixes

  • Prevented affected sky-visible and high-altitude spawns, including herd entries, from selecting cave and underground biomes. This fixes Latias and Latios being eligible to spawn in Regions Unexplored: Inferno.
  • Corrected cave-tag membership so Terralith surface biomes are not classified as caves.
  • Corrected Hisuian Braviary's Grove biome selector and added #cobblemon:is_snowy_taiga for explicit snowy-taiga classification.

Designed for Cobblemon 1.8+ and Minecraft 1.21.1 only.
# Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns v6.2

## Changes

  • Capped the 14 Legendary spawn entries above 1.5 at 1.5.
  • Added a guide with recommended Cobblemon spawn settings. These are manual mod configuration values and are not applied automatically by the datapack.
# Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns v6.1.2

## Changes

  • Reduced spawn weights for **Alpha boss herds** by 60% compared with v6.1.1.

# Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns v6.1.1

## New

  • Added official **Cobblemon 1.8.1 spawn coverage** that was missing from the previous release.
  • Added **Herds** and **habitat encounters** from Cobblemon 1.8.1.
  • Added custom Herds for the **Tympole**, **Grubbin**, **Blipbug**, **Snover**, and **Pawmi** evolution lines.
  • Added habitat encounters for **Tympole**, **Grubbin**, **Blipbug**, **Snover**, **Pawmi**, **Oranguru**, **Passimian**, **Gulpin**, **Swalot**, **Greavard**, and **Houndstone**.

## Changes

  • Expanded spawn coverage while preserving the datapack’s custom **weights** and existing spawn conditions.
  • Improved compatibility with the official **Cobblemon 1.8.1** spawn data.

## Fixes

  • Fixed an incorrect **Gliscor** spawn entry that referenced **Gligar**.

## Removed

  • Removed several temporary or event-based spawns, including **Crystal Onix**, **Lana’s Eevee**, **Snowman Snorlax**, **Black Tyranitar**, the **Kecleon herd**, **Snowman Munchlax**, the **Rowlet duo**, and **Acerola’s Mimikyu**.

# COBBLEMON SPAWNS INFO v6.0.1:

## NEW:

  • 🔧 **Improved optional mod compatibility handling** – Supported world-generation mods can now be absent without their biome entries interfering with standard Cobblemon biome tags.

## CHANGES:

  • 🌿 **Updated modded biome tag handling** – **Still Life** and **Biomes O’ Plenty** biome references are now correctly treated as optional dependencies.
  • 🗺️ **Improved biome tag reliability** across Forests, Savannas, Beaches, Oceans, Jungles, Swamps, Plains, Taigas, Arid regions and other environments.

## FIXES:

  • 🛠️ **Fixed a major v6.0 spawn regression** that caused significantly fewer Pokémon to spawn in many biomes.
  • 🐾 **Fixed Pokémon disappearing from spawn pools** when optional world-generation mods were not installed.
  • 🌎 **Fixed affected vanilla and modded environments**, including reports of severely reduced spawns in Savannas, Beaches and other Overworld biomes.
  • 🧩 **Fixed invalid optional biome resolution** that could cause entire Cobblemon biome tags to fail to load.

# **Cobblemon Realms — Biome Expanded Spawns v5.0b**

### **Patch Update + Final Notice for the 1.20 / Cobblemon 1.6 Branch**

# 🛠️ **v5.0b — Spawn Fix Patch & Legendary Rarity Pass**

## ✔ Fixed Spawns

Several Pokémon had misconfigured or incorrectly activated spawn entries.
v5.0b corrects all of them so these species now spawn **properly**, with the right biome tags, contexts and activation flags.

## 🔻 Global Legendary / Ultra Beast Nerf

Legendary, Mythical and Ultra Beast rates were too high in v5.0.
This patch applies a complete rarity rebalance:

  • significantly reduced weights
  • stricter biome routing
  • corrected bucket tiers
  • cleaner level ranges
  • overall lower encounter frequency

Legendary rarity is now **balanced and intentional**, matching CR gameplay expectations.

# 🧩 **Minecraft 1.20 / Cobblemon 1.6 Version (Legacy)**

### **Final Update for the Old Generation**

## 📌 About This Version

This datapack build is dedicated to:

  • Minecraft 1.20.x**
  • Cobblemon 1.6**

It remains **fully compatible** with this older environment and will continue working normally for all worlds still running 1.20.

## ⚠️ End of Support Notice

This is the **last update** that will ever be released for the
  • 1.20 / Cobblemon 1.6** branch.

No further fixes, optimizations, or spawn adjustments will be made for this version.

# 🚀 **Future Development Moves Forward**

All upcoming updates of **Biome Expanded Spawns** will target:

  • Minecraft 1.21+**
  • Cobblemon 1.7+**

This includes:

  • deeper spawn ecosystem reworks
  • improved biome logic
  • distribution balancing
  • new spawn families and conditions
  • long-term maintenance and refinements

The datapack and the modpack now fully transition to the **1.21 / 1.7+ era**.
# **Cobblemon Realms — Biome Expanded Spawns v5.0b**

### **Spawn Fix Patch & Legendary Nerf Pass**

## 🛠️ **Spawn Fixes**

Several Pokémon had spawn entries that were:

  • incorrectly enabled
  • missing activation flags
  • or using conditions that prevented them from spawning as intended

v5.0b corrects all these issues.
The affected species now **spawn properly** with the right biome tags, contexts and conditions.

## 🔻 **Global Legendary & Ultra Beast Nerf**

Legendary, Mythical and Ultra Beast spawn rates were **far too high** in v5.0.

v5.0b applies a full rarity pass:

  • significantly reduced weights
  • corrected bucket tiers
  • stricter biome routing
  • cleaned level ranges
  • lowered overall spawn frequency across the board

This restores legendary rarity to a **realistic and balanced level**, in line with CR gameplay expectations.

## 🎯 **Goal of the Patch**

This update focuses on:

  • stabilizing 5.0’s big overhaul
  • ensuring every Pokémon that *should* spawn actually does
  • correcting overpowered legendary/UB presence
  • preparing the ground for future balancing waves

## 📌 Compatibility

  • v5.0b works only with Cobblemon 1.7+ (Minecraft 1.21+).**
# **Cobblemon Realms — Biome Expanded Spawns v4.9 (Legacy Branch)**

### **Final Update for Minecraft 1.20.x — Cobblemon 1.6**

## 📌 **About This Version**

This datapack release is specifically built for:

  • Minecraft 1.20.x**
  • Cobblemon 1.6**

It remains **fully compatible** with the old environment and will continue to work exactly as expected on all 1.20-based servers and worlds.

## ⚠️ **End of Support Notice**

This will be the **last update** ever released for the
  • 1.20 / Cobblemon 1.6** branch.

No further fixes, optimizations or spawn reworks will be made for this version.

## 🚀 **Future Development Moves Forward**

All future updates of Biome Expanded Spawns will target:

  • Minecraft 1.21+**
  • Cobblemon 1.7+**

This includes:

  • complete spawn reworks
  • biome logic improvements
  • distribution balancing
  • new ecosystem updates
  • long-term maintenance

The modpack and the datapacks will now move fully onto the **1.21 / 1.7+ generation**.

# **Cobblemon Realms — Biome Expanded Spawns v5.0**

### **Major Overhaul From v4.9 → v5.0**

## ⚠️ **Compatibility Notice**

  • v5.0 only works with Cobblemon 1.7+.**
It will **not** run on Cobblemon 1.6.

# 🧬 **What Actually Changed in the Spawns**

v5.0 is not a cosmetic update.
It is a **full ecosystem overhaul** built around the new Cobblemon 1.7 spawn architecture.

Below is the detailed, transparent breakdown of what changed.

## 🌍 **1. Full migration to Cobblemon 1.7’s new biome and condition system**

Cobblemon 1.7 reworks the entire spawn backend:

  • new biome tag structure
  • new condition rules (canSeeSky, underground, water logic…)
  • new spawn contexts (surface, grounded, subterranean…)
  • updated routing for climate groups and biome families

Every Pokémon file in the datapack has been rewritten to comply with these rules.

Examples included in v5.0:

  • Migration to the new #cobblemon:* biome tags
  • Replaced outdated logic that no longer exists in 1.7
  • Updated mountain, temperate, cave and other biome families
  • Clean separation between surface, underground and in-water behaviors

This ensures the datapack is **fully aligned with Cobblemon’s new spawn engine**.

## 📁 **2. Over 100 duplicate Pokémon files merged**

A massive cleanup was done to remove conflicts between:

  • non-numbered files (victreebel.json)
  • and their official numbered counterparts (0071_victreebel.json)

In v5.0, all “real” Pokémon spawn data has been **merged into their correct Pokédex file**.

Examples:

  • Victreebel
  • Seviper
  • Dialga
  • Many more (literally over a hundred)

Result:
  • No more duplicates, no more conflicting rules, proper structure for every Pokémon.**

Fakemons and custom Realms-exclusive forms were **not touched**.

## 🐾 **3. Large-scale spawn distribution rebalance**

Many species were previously **too exclusive**, locked into extremely narrow biomes or micro-conditions.

v5.0 expands their distribution to match Cobblemon 1.7’s broader, tag-driven environments.

What that means in practice:

  • Several Pokémon now spawn across multiple valid biome groups instead of a single one
  • Restrictions based on outdated biome lists were removed or modernized
  • The spawn buckets were refined so some species are no longer artificially rare or artificially common

This is the **first step** of a long-term rebalance.
Future versions will continue expanding, correcting or specializing various species as Cobblemon evolves.

## 🧱 **4. Structural rewrites inside spawn pools**

This update includes dozens of structural improvements:

  • cleaned weight distributions
  • fixed incorrect level ranges
  • normalized spawn contexts
  • aligned bucket logic with Cobblemon 1.7 behavior
  • removed leftover obsolete conditions from pre-1.7 versions

The goal is a **more predictable, more stable and more readable spawn ecosystem**.

## 🌀 **5. New Dimension Support (Where Applicable)**

v5.0 updates several spawns to correctly work with:

  • modern Nether biome tags
  • updated End dimension logic
  • revamped overworld climate grouping

Some species that were previously “exclusive” due to outdated dimension constraints are now correctly detected and mapped.

## 🔧 **6. Preparing for future balancing waves**

This update lays the groundwork for future improvements.
As a result:

  • some Pokémon now have broader biome coverage
  • others will be re-specialized later
  • certain families will receive deeper reworks in upcoming versions

The spawn system is now flexible enough to allow **much more fine-tuned balancing** moving forward.

# 📌 **COBBLEMON SPAWNS INFO v5.0**

  • This update is exclusive to Cobblemon 1.7+.
It will NOT work with Cobblemon 1.6.**
