EarthMC Map Addon

A client-side EarthMC map extension for Xaero's World Map and Xaero's Minimap. It overlays EarthMC Towny data directly onto your in-game maps so you can read towns, nations, players, borders, and claims without leaving Minecraft.

Worlds

  • Terra Nostra and the Moon, each with its own claims, outposts, terrain and players.
  • The World button follows the dimension you are in by default: the Moon while you are up there, Terra Nostra everywhere else. Click it to pin one world instead, and cycle round to Auto to hand it back.
  • Browsing one world leaves the minimap on the other, so it keeps showing the claims, terrain, players and chunk selection where you actually are.
  • The world map switches Xaero's own dimension to match, so you see the lunar terrain you have explored, and hands it back when the map closes.
  • Outpost sizes are counted separately from the parent town, so a small lunar outpost is not reported as its town's whole claim. Popups, tooltips and search show the claim in front of you with the town-wide total underneath.

World Map

  • Town claims drawn as real claim shapes, with configurable border thickness, fill opacity, and smooth outlines.
  • Squaremap background layer — the real map.earthmc.net tiles rendered under the overlay, with an optional darken pass.
  • Nation capital stars, toggleable.
  • Nation join range — circles showing where a town could join a nation (1,500 block town radius, 5,000 nation radius), with a union outline when nearby towns extend the nation's reach.
  • World Map Overview — zooms out past Xaero's normal limit to see the whole world.
    • Far-zoom town dots so towns stay visible when zoomed out.
  • Real-world country and state borders as an overlay.
  • Custom overlays — drop GeoJSON FeatureCollections (LineString, MultiLineString, Point) into a folder the mod creates and opens for you.

Minimap

  • Town borders, town names, and player dots on the minimap.
  • Info panel under the minimap: current town and nation, nearby players with live distance (players leaving view linger in red at their last-known spot), nearest town when in wilderness. Each line toggles independently and stacks below Xaero's own info without overlapping.
  • Wilderness player alert for nearby outsiders.
  • Optional hide-in-Nether, or an "EarthMC map in Nether" mode that scales the overworld map ×8 over Nether tiles.

Map modes

  • Seven map modes: Public, Overclaim, Open, Meganations, Alliances, Planning, and Ice Highways. The first three highlight matching towns in a colour you pick (fixed or RGB cycling); Meganations and Alliances recolour towns by bloc instead, and use the BreakTheBot Alliance API. Ice Highways draws EarthMC's ice highway network over the map, using XiLeF2211's community-maintained Ice Highways Map data, fetched only while that mode is selected.
  • Planning mode turns the search bar into a nation picker and lets you place prospective towns (T1, T2, …) with numbered map markers. Towns outside the nation's range are marked red on both the chip and the map.

Search

  • Towns, nations, players, and alliances, with detail panels — nation bonus, king/capital, outlaws, enemies, resident lists, player online/last-seen/town/nation/role.
  • Filters: nationless, n:germany,france (multi-value), r>30,<60, chunks>500. Short prefixes n: and r: supported.
  • Archive lookup — type a dd/mm/yyyy date to load historical map data from the Wayback Machine.
    • Earliest date is 17/4/2026, as that is when Nostra started.
    • The separator can be /, ., ,, - or a space, leading zeroes are optional, and the year can be 2 or 4 digits (17 4 26 works).
  • Filters persist while panning; the box auto-widens.
  • Favourites for towns, nations, players, and alliances — jump to a nation's capital or an online player's location.

Players

  • Online player dots on both maps coloured by relation (your town / your nation / others), real player heads, configurable head/name/label ranges, and last-seen positions.

Info Panel

  • Press J, or the expand button beside the world map search bar.
  • Dashboard — your town and nation at a glance: claimed chunks against your limit, balance, residents, plus server totals, your favourites, and how old the claim data is.
  • Statistics — ranked lists of towns and nations by residents, chunks, gold, outlaws and founding date. Every name opens its full page.
  • Its own search bar covering towns, nations and players at once, ranked so the closest match comes first.

Info panels

  • Right-click a town for mayor, nation, residents, gold, chunk count, open/public status, and founded date.
  • Click on a nation star for information such as the capital, founded date, nation chunks, towns, etc.
  • Click on a player head or dot to get information on a player.
  • All three of the above have an extended mode with more in-depth information.

Tools

  • Chunk counter with persistent multi-group tracking and Shift+right-drag box select.
  • Xaero waypoint routes to map targets.
  • A line under the world map coordinates showing how old the claim data is, with a button to reload it. Turns amber when overdue, red if a refresh failed.
  • Map screenshots on a keybind — captures the squaremap, town, and player layers, hides mod and Xaero UI, with its own settings section (players off, nation stars on, dimmed towns hidden by default) and no chunk cursor.

Setup

  • Searchable sectioned settings screen via Mod Menu with per-row Reset and right-click-to-go-back; UI scale; dark buttons; EarthMC-only mode; keybinds for the Info Panel (J), reloading claims (R, works with the map open) and map screenshots — all rebindable in the settings or in Options > Controls, and synced with both.

Requirements

  • Fabric Loader + Fabric API
  • Xaero's Minimap and/or Xaero's World Map
  • Mod Menu (optional, for the in-game settings screen)

# 1.4.11

  • Waypoints**
  • Xaero's waypoints are visible on the world map again. With the Squaremap layer on, the EarthMC imagery painted straight over every marker on the map, so the addon now draws them back on top itself, at Xaero's own size and in Xaero's own colours. Hovering one still raises Xaero's tooltip and right-clicking one still opens Xaero's menu, because those were never covered.
  • Right-clicking empty map opens Xaero's own menu again, so you can add a waypoint, teleport or share a location from the map. Right-clicking a town still opens the town panel; unclaimed ground is Xaero's, and so is any waypoint or tracked player under the cursor, so a waypoint standing inside a town can be edited, moved or deleted again. Settings -> World Map -> Wilderness Town Info puts the old behaviour back if you preferred it.
  • Waypoints no longer disappear from the enlarged minimap, or on frames where the EarthMC layer drew nothing.
  • On 1.21.11 only: your waypoints, the player arrow and the waypoint set name no longer show up on a map of a world you are not standing in, usually the Moon. The three hooks that suppress them named the method using the newer Minecraft versions' name for it, so on that build they had never once run.

  • Nations**
  • Every nation reported "No capital". The capital and king fields stopped being requested in 1.4.10, which took the capital stars, the "Capital of" tag, the capital circle in join range, the Capital and King rows and every nation jump with them.
  • Searching a nation now goes to its capital, framed and flashed like any other town, instead of trying to fit the whole nation on screen.

  • Ice highways**
  • The ice highway network is built in, as mode 7 on the Map button. It is XiLeF2211's community-maintained map, fetched live so it stays current, and only downloaded once you switch the layer on.

  • Fixes**
  • A Moon outpost is no longer wiped out by an Earth claim refresh. Every Moon town shares a name with an Earth one, and the two were being confused: the Moon claim vanished and right-clicking it said wilderness.
  • Leaving the map in Planning mode survives a restart. It silently came back as None every time.
  • The chunk counter's Reset button sits beside the counter instead of a row above it.

  • Search flash**
  • A searched town now blinks its own border rather than tracing a second outline a pixel or two beside it, and it works again while a map mode is on. The freeze when the blink stopped is gone.

  • Behind the scenes**
  • The live player feed now reads EarthMC's new endpoint, which replaced the file the mod used to fetch. No visible difference, beyond it revalidating properly: most polls now transfer nothing instead of a few KB.

Available for Minecraft **1.21.11**, **26.1.x**, **26.2** and **26.3**.

  • Performance**
  • The periodic stutter is gone. Working out which town owns each visible chunk used to land on one frame every so often; it now runs on a background thread while the previous view keeps drawing.
  • Claim outlines draw as merged runs instead of one call per chunk side: a third to a fifth of the geometry in dense areas.

  • Less data used**
  • The EarthMC API is now asked for compressed responses, and only for the fields that are actually read. Opening the rankings went from 4.7 MB to 133 KB.
  • Idle clients back off. Standing still with no map open drops roughly 37 MB an hour to about 6; moving resets it instantly. The wilderness alert is exempt, since idling is the state it exists for.
  • The player feed polls slower when only the minimap is up, and not at all when nothing displays it.
  • Claims now honour the polling interval the map server asks for, so EarthMC can slow every client down without waiting for a mod update. Requests also identify their version now.

  • Search**
  • Picking a result zooms to fit it instead of keeping whatever zoom you were already at, and flashes the claim it found so you can pick it out from its neighbours. Nations frame every member claim. Both can be turned off under World Map.

  • Shop waypoints from /qs find now appear for every result. The parser insisted on wording QuickShop does not always print, so most shops were skipped in silence, and a slow search timed out before its results arrived.
  • Fixed the mod sometimes sitting idle on EarthMC with every setting correct. A threading bug could latch the "is this EarthMC" check onto the wrong answer for the rest of the session.
  • Planning mode reworked: the placement hint showed garbled text and hovering a chip did nothing. Hold shift to place a chain, escape to cancel, right-click a pin to remove it, and a new chip clears the plan. Counts and numbering update when a town is removed, and the markers and buttons now match the rest of the mod.
  • New setting: Town Claims On Minimap, for hiding claims there without turning off the whole minimap overlay.
  • The mod now says when it is idle because the server is not recognised as EarthMC, rather than drawing nothing with no explanation.
  • Adding waypoints no longer flashes "default" across the minimap.

  • The mod now says when it is idle because the server is not recognised as EarthMC, rather than drawing nothing with no explanation.
  • Adding waypoints no longer flashes "default" across the minimap.
• Claims for the town you are standing in are now read straight from the EarthMC API, so a claim or unclaim shows up without waiting for the map to republish. /t claim and /t unclaim do this on their own, and a rect claim or an outpost now appears all at once instead of one chunk at a time.
  • Refreshing no longer blanks and re-downloads the map. It rebuilds everything once every 10 minutes, or on every refresh if you turn on "Refresh Rebuilds Everything" in Settings.
  • The whole claim-freshness line is a refresh button now, not just the [R].
  • A player who left your town no longer keeps the same-town dot colour; town and nation are read live.
  • Custom overlay labels can be turned off, and no longer stack on top of each other.
  • The archive bar no longer covers the claim-freshness line.
