EmbellishCraft

A Minecraft 1.13 - 1.21 Neo|Forge mod that adds decorative blocks and items.

Announcement

Mod updated for 1.21.1 (minus a few features that need to be redone).

Notes

  • starting from 1.15.2 EmbellishCraft now requires Mapper Base to be installed!
  • for 1.15.2 Forge 31.2.0 seems to be too old, please use 31.2.21 or newer to avoid crashes.

What is EmbellishCraft?

EmbellishCraft is a mod adding many decorative blocks to allow you more creativity in your buildings! Most blocks don't have any specific functionality but some can be interacting with, like the chairs or the doors.

This mod adds a lot of blocks and recipes and making a list of the recipes or a wiki would take too much time. It is highly recommended to install Just Enough Items to quickly access the block list and the recipes.

Current additions:

World Generation

  • 6 different rocks are generated in the Overworld as pockets similar to diorite, granite or andesite:
    • basalt: a dark volcanic stone, mostly found near the bottom of the world (in deepslate for 1.18+)
    • marble: a bright stone found above sea level (usually in mountains or hills in 1.18+)
    • gneiss: a bright found around sea level, more common than marble
    • slate: a dark bluish stone mostly found a bit under sea level
    • larvikite: a bluish stone found under sea level (only in colder biomes for 1.18+)
    • jade: a rare greenish stone found above sea level, less frequent than marble, making it the rarest rock to find

Building Blocks

  • Bricks blocks with stairs, slabs, walls and pressure plates variants
  • Large bricks blocks with with stairs, slabs, walls and pressure plates variants
  • Paving blocks with stairs, slabs, walls and pressure plates variants
  • Tiles blocks with stairs, slabs, walls and pressure plates variants
  • Cobblestone bricks blocks with stairs, slabs, walls and pressure plates variants. They match cobblestone bricks from Quark (credit to their devs for the texture).
  • Roof tiles blocks from all the rocks generated by Minecraft and EmbellishCraft (except regular stone).
  • Paving stones, useful to create paved streets like in old cities. Also comes with slab, stairs, wall and pressure plate variants.
  • Wallpaper blocks with stairs and slabs variants + a variant with a plinth
  • Chairs with 6 wood variants: right click on it to seat, sneak to leave it (sitting temporarily disabled in 1.17).
  • Couches that connect together like stairs, with 16 color variants. Like chairs, right click to sit (sitting temporarily disabled in 1.17).
  • (1.20 and older only) New fancy beds, available in 16 colors and 6 wood variants.
  • Pillows, act like small beds, available in 16 colors.
  • (1.16 and older only) New fancy chests, available in 6 wood variants.
  • (1.16 and older only) Lockers that can be locked by shift clicking it as the one having placed them to protect their contents. Resist explosions.
  • Wooden crates, available in 6 wood variants, that will keep their contents when broken. Like a cheaper version of the Shulker Box. 1.21 version currently doesn't have storage feature.
  • Table lamps coming in 16 colors, can be lit using redstone or manually toggled depending of the variant used.
  • Tables and fancy tables that automatically attach themselves when placed together (except if the tables are made from different wood).
  • Plates that can be stacked up to 8 by right clicking on an existing plate with a plate in hand.
  • New fancy wooden doors.
  • Terrace tables and chairs, with 6 wood variants + iron variant
  • Metallic blocks: corrugated plates, bulkheads, iron and steel beams, plates, ladders and vent ducts, perfect for industry themed builds!
  • Suspended stairs, with steel and wooden variants. Two variants exist: small and large steps. It is possible to sit on them (disabled in 1.17, back in 1.18.1 for the large stairs).
  • Steel doors, with multiple variants (basic, sturdy or with a warning sign, and in bare steel, white painted steel or rusty steel). Like iron doors, they require redstone signal to be used. Sturdy doors are more resistant and can handle explosions.
  • More to come!

Please only download this mod on Modrinth or CurseForge. Other sources like the mod rehost websites may host malicious contents in the provided files, along with wrong or mislabeled versions. They must be avoided for your safety.

Most crafts are done using the crafting grid, but you can also use the stonecutter to slice many blocks (bricks, cobblestones, stones, pavings...) into slab / stair / wall / pressure plate counterparts.

Use Just Enough Items to have a easier access to the crafts. When I'll figure out how to make recipe advancement work the Minecraft crafting book will tell you how to craft the blocks.

Remember to report any problem or bug! Thanks.

F.A.Q:

Q: Can you add X in the mod?
A: You can suggest ideas with a picture to illustrate and if I find it interesting then I can try adding it.

Q: Can you backport to 1.12.2 / 1.7.10 / another version?
A: No, older versions are way different which would take too much time. Also stop asking modders 1.7.10 versions, this thing is 5+ years old and 7 major release late.

Q: What about a Fabric version?
A: I don't have time and motivation to setup and learn another mod loader. So Fabric is not in my plans.

First port of EmbellishCraft for 1.20
First port of embellishcraft to 1.19.2

Warning! Configuration of oregen is completely gone as this is not something that should be done through configs. Instead to disable oregen (or change it) you can use a datapack.
# [1.18.2] EmbellishCraft 5.0.1.0

Updated for Minecraft 1.18.2.

## Changelog

  • Updated to 1.18.2 with general improvements and build updates.
  • Updated to Forge 40.1.54
# [1.18.1] EmbellishCraft 5.0.0.1

  • Required Forge version: 39.0.0 and above
  • Required mods: Mapper Base 4.0.0.0 and above

This is the latest release for Minecraft 1.18.1. 1.18.2 will follow next.

This build was tested against the latest 1.18.1 version of Forge, after 1.18.2 versions started being distributed.

Mapper Base and the Biomes O'Plenty addons don't need to be updated except if you want the Chinese translation with Mapper Base and a small recipe fix for steel ingot.

## Changelog

### Sit functionality is back

Chairs can now be used again to sit down on them.

About suspended stairs, only the large variant can be used as a chair, useful for people using them as a camping table.

Player rotation is now restricted to avoid players being wrongly oriented on the chairs.

### Other changes

Attempt to fix villagers and other mobs not being able to use suspended stairs correctly.

Attempt to fix chairs not being correctly rotated when using Minecolonies and the building schematic feature.

Tables can now be placed above air / void and will lose their feet in this case, useful to create shelves or platforms.

Added Chinese translation. Translation provided by Lyaiya from Github.

Please report bugs to GitHub.
# [1.18.1] EmbellishCraft 5.0.0.0

  • Required Forge version: 39.0.0 and above
  • Required mods: Mapper Base 4.0.0.0

This is the first release for Minecraft 1.18.1.

While it has been tested on client + server without any encountered problem it may be possible to find new bugs as the mod went through a rewrite. In this case please report them.

This build was tested against the latest 1.18.1 version of Forge, after 1.18.2 versions started being distributed.

## Changelog
### Updated to Minecraft 1.18.1

The mod now runs on Minecraft 1.18.1. It is basically the same mod than the 1.17.1 version with a few changes to accommodate the new version.

### Ore gen changes

In this version the various rocks generate this way:

  • basalt now generates in the deepslate
  • slate and gneiss generates the same way than before
  • marble now generates above sea level, it is mostly found in hills and mountains
  • jade generates above sea level in small pockets
  • larvikite now only generates in colder biomes

Remember a config file exists to change how the rocks are generated.

### Temporarily disabled contents

Due to changes in Minecraft and lack of time some contents were disabled since 1.17.1. They may return later in future updates (probably only on 1.18+ versions).

Fancy chests and the locker were disabled, those blocks need a complete rewrite as the existing code is a huge mess.

The ability to sit down on chairs, couches and suspended stairs is disabled, the code also needs to be rewritten.

### Other changes

Fixed missing fancy bed recipes.

Fancy beds made with Nether woods can't be used as furnace fuel anymore.

Please report bugs to GitHub.
# [1.17.1] EmbellishCraft 4.0.0.0

  • Required Forge version: 37.1.1
  • Required mods: Mapper Base 3.0.0.0

This is the first (and probably last) release for Minecraft 1.17.1. Development will now move onto 1.18.

While it has been tested on client + server without any encountered problem it may be possible to find new bugs as the mod went through a rewrite. In this case please report them.

## Changelog

The mod now runs on Minecraft 1.17.1. Many internal changes were also applied to optimize the code and make it easier to add new contents in the future.

### Temporarily disabled contents

Due to changes in Minecraft and lack of time some contents were disabled in this version.

Manual table lamps can't be toggled by redstone anymore.

Changed top bulkhead craft to use gravel instead of Mapper Base concrete (which got removed).

Please report bugs to GitHub.

  • Added Stonecutter recipes for all blocks made from stone materials, allowing players to craft stairs, slabs, walls and more with a better yield.
  • Added advanced worldgen configuration: you can now list biomes (from Minecraft and mods) that will be whitelisted or blacklisted, for each rock. By default it blacklist biomes, blocking the rock from being generated there but you can invert to whitelist mode so the rock will only generate inside of them. Open embellishcraft-common.toml in the config folder for more details.
  • Added a sound when opening a wooden crate.
  • Replaced basalt texture for a better one.
  • Bolts can now be added to beams with a right-click while holding bolts in the main hand. Right-clicking with a flatter hammer will remove bolts from beams as well, dropping them on the ground nearby.

  • Added fancy chests, with 6 wood variants. Work like regular chests.
  • Added lockers: can be simple or tall (just place another locker on top and they will assemble, like double chests) and the contents can be locked / unlocked by shift clicking them (but only if you're the owner; ownership is determined bu who places the locker). Locked lockers won't pull in or out items from automation (hoppers etc). A locked locker can be broken by anyone though so be aware of this.

  • Added fancy beds, available in 16 colors and 6 wood variants. Work like regular beds.
  • Added pillows: they act like a bed but it's just a pillow. Allows you to make beds from blocks and add pillows to sleep. Visuals may change later. NOTE: sleeping players will be rendered above the floor, floating in air; this is a blocker from Mojang's hardcoded values in Minecraft's code. No idea how to fix that yet.
  • Added wooden crates, available in 6 wood variants; their contents will stay in when broken, like Shulker boxes. You can't store another crate or Shulker box inside a crate.
  • Config code rewrite to attempt a fix for modpack makers and custom config files.

  • Added jade: a greenish stone found less frequently than marble, but around the same height levels.
  • Added larvikite: a bluish stone found under sea level. The name comes from the Norwegian town of Larvik.
Note: you'll need to generate new chunks to find the new stones in your world.
  • Added suspended stairs: come in all six wooden variants and a steel variant. Wooden variants can smelt up to 5 items in furnaces.
  • Added fancy wooden doors: come in all six wooden variants.
  • Added steel doors: come in many variants (basic, sturdy or with a warning sign, and in bare steel, white painted steel or rusty steel). Like iron doors, they require redstone signal to be used. Sturdy doors are more resistant but this value is going to vary a bit in the future.

# [1.14.4] EmbellishCraft 1.2.0 • More furniture!

This update adds modular couch blocks along with some small table lamps to lighten your evenings! There are also new metallic ladders for those who want more sturdy ways to climb.

  • Added table lamps, come in 16 colors and can be lit using redstone, like vanilla redstone lamp.
