EnderChest Cover Animated

Note: This applies to all servers running version 1.10.6 or lower.

There is an active duplication exploit (dupe) in these versions of the plugin (v1.10.6 or lower). The exploit was fixed during the 2.x.x updates and has been fully patched since version 2.3.0.

Please do not open a ticket to report this dupe if you are running version 1.10.6 or lower, as the issue is already known.

To fix the exploit, simply update the plugin to version 2.3.0 or newer.

Your existing Ender Chest (EC) data will not be deleted or lost. You also do not need to delete your existing config.yml. Only a few new configuration keys have been added, so your current configuration can remain as it is.

Show players the slots they haven't unlocked yet. The chest window is padded to a fixed size and locked slots are shown as placeholders a visible reason to rank up.

  • Placeholders can't be taken, moved, swapped or dragged onto, and are never saved.
  • Name and lore are configurable in messages.yml (locked-slot-name, locked-slot-lore).
  • Team chests are not affected.

Give players a separate EnderChest per world or group of worlds – e.g. one for survival, one for creative.

### Fixed
  • Crate plugins work again on ender chest blocks.** Right-clicking a crate (ExcellentCrates and other crate, shop or menu plugins) opened the EnderChest instead of the crate preview. Other plugins now always get the click first.
  • Vanilla items are imported automatically.** Items left in a player's vanilla Ender Chest are now imported when they join or open their chest – no need to run /ec migrate vanilla again. Items go into free slots, nothing is overwritten. Players with ec.vanilla are skipped; the import pauses after /ec export to avoid duplicates.

  • Vanilla migration now finds offline players on Minecraft 26.1+.**
Minecraft 26.1 moved player data from world/playerdata to world/players/data, so /ec migrate vanilla only imported players who were online. Both locations are now supported, and the console shows which folder was used.
  • /ec export also uses the new player data location.

### Safer migration
  • Imported items now go into **free slots** and no longer overwrite page 1, so items a player already has in the plugin chest are kept. Running /ec migrate vanilla again is now safe.
  • If the chest is full, the remaining items stay in the vanilla Ender Chest and are imported on a later join. Nothing is deleted.

### Already migrated on 26.1 / 26.2?
Update to 2.5.1 and run /ec migrate vanilla` once more. Offline players are imported now, and anyone still missing gets their items the next time they join.

  • Page counts are now remembered for offline players, so admin tools report the same number of pages whether a player is online or not. Live permissions always take priority while a player is online.
  • On first startup after this update, page counts are restored automatically from existing chest data for players who haven't logged in recently.
  • /ec pageinfo now also shows the effective page total including pages granted by permission, not just admin-assigned ones.

### Fixed:
  • Critical: two separate item duplication exploits in the page system.** Both allowed items to be multiplied through normal page switching. Updating is strongly recommended for all servers running with pages enabled.
  • Switching pages could write a page's contents into the wrong page.
  • A page that failed to load (for example when an item came from a temporarily disabled plugin) opened empty and overwrote the stored data on the next save. The page is now left untouched and the player is informed.
  • Opening a page holding more items than the chest's current size silently destroyed the excess. Those items are now returned to the player, matching the behaviour when opening a chest normally.
  • Chest size during a page switch was taken from whoever was viewing the chest instead of its owner, which resized shared chests incorrectly.
  • /ecsee <player> <page> only allowed page 1 for offline players while every page worked for online players.
  • Commands used during a page switch could open a second chest window and discard changes.
  • Item search determined its page range from the searching player instead of the chest owner.

  • Switching pages could freeze the server (especially with MySQL) because saving ran on the main thread — page switching is now fully asynchronous.
  • /ec reload could hang the server for up to 10 seconds while waiting for open chests to save — it no longer blocks the main thread.
  • MySQL chest lock had a race condition — two networked servers opening the same chest at once could both acquire the lock. The lock is now claimed atomically.
  • MySQL restore now runs in a proper transaction with rollback — a failed restore no longer leaves the database half-wiped.
  • Offline player name lookups in /ecsee, /ecshare, /ec clear, /ec uninvite, /ec rowinfo, and /ec pageinfo no longer risk freezing the server on unknown names (resolved asynchronously now).
