Extra Damage Enchantments
A modpack utility mod masquerading as an enchantment mod. Extra Damage Enchantments connects datapacks to the "entity group" system used by enchantments like Smite. And additionally adds 5 new damaging enchantments to make use of the new system.
An issue with modpacks is that new mobs often don't fall into the vanilla categories of undead, arthropod, and aquatic. ExtraDE adds 5 additional
categories that cover the majority of use-cases.
Each category, along with the vanilla groupings, is a datapack tag. This creates a convenient compatibility layer for modpacks to use and add additional
mobs.
ExtraDE also adds custom group icons for Provi's Health Bars. Using PHB will also grant new custom health bar portraits.
New Groups and Enchantments
| Group | Enchantment | Entity Tag | Example Mobs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Humanoid | Rebel | extra-damage-enchantments:humanoid |
Players, Witches, Piglins |
| Outerworldly | Voidrender | extra-damage-enchantments:outerworldly |
Endermen, Shulkers, Ender Dragon |
| Arcane | Unravel | extra-damage-enchantments:arcane |
Allays, Blazes, Vexes |
| Fungifloral | Herbicide | extra-damage-enchantments:fungifloral |
Creepers, Wardens |
| Beastly | Butcher | extra-damage-enchantments:beastly |
Cows, Hoglins, Ravagers |
Each enchantment is incompatible with Sharpness, each other, and other damage enchantments such as Smite.
For PvP balancing, there is additionally a gamerule that controls how effective special (non-Sharpness) damage enchantments are against players.
Datapack Information
ExtraDE allows you to add any mob (even modded ones) into the extra or even vanilla entity groups via Minecraft's tag system, check the mod wiki for more information.
Modpacks
Feel free to add this mod to any modpacks. ExtraDE is a cross between enchantments and modpack utility afterall.
Origins Addon
If you are setting up an Origins modpack, consider also adding ExtraDE Origins Addon. This addon creates a new power type called extrade:entity_group, which allows any Origin to be assigned to one of the entity groups created by ExtraDE.
This benefits both roleplay/lore and pvp balancing by creating a universal weakness system for all members. (Note that players are classified as "humanoid" by default.)
Showcase Video
- Updated to 1.21.3 Minecraft.
Frankly with all these changes by Mojang, we're slowly reaching the point where this mod is almost a datapack.
## Changes
- All enchantments have been reworked into data-driven versions.
## Removals
- The convenient mixin injection point for the enchantments has been removed due to obvious reasons.
## Additions
- For vanilla parity, added new tags for sensitivity to enchantments, these are separate from the pre-existing entity tags.
## Changes
- All enchantments now make use of the Combat+ enchantable tags.
- Entity Tags use the new Provi's Health Bars API with a starting priority of -990.
## Removals
- Removed Neat compatibility.
- Neat has been stuck on 1.20.1, for a long time now. I can't pre-emptively predict how the Neat dev will adjust to the new Entity Group system (if at all), nor can I delay my own updates for it.
- Neat support is dropped indefinitely for this reason.
## Changes
- The internal modid now matches the actual modid.
- The data and asset namespace is now
extra-damage-enchantments. - The gamerule has been renamed to
damageEnchantAgainstPlayerEffectiveness, placed in the Combat+ gamerule category, and the default value raised to 0.5 to match Extended Enchanting.
- Added entrypoint to connect to [Provi's Health Bars](https://modrinth.com/mod/provis-health-bars). Several custom portraits have been added.
- ExtraDE Neat Compat is now built into this mod. Playing with Neat will automatically add the new icons.
## Notes
As of this release the addon mod, [ExtraDE Neat Compat](https://modrinth.com/mod/extrade-neat-compat) has been deprecated. It has been merged into this mod and is no longer needed.
- Changed mod icon.
- Added 1.20 mobs to tags.
- Added a new gamerule
specialEnchantAgainstPlayersPercentEffectivenessthat modifies the damage that special (not Sharpness) damage enchantments deal to players. - Read more about it [here](https://github.com/Provismet/Extra-Damage-Enchantments/wiki/Special-Enchantment-Effectiveness-Against-Players).
- Updated to 1.20
- Changed modmenu homepage to GitHub repo.
Updated to 1.19.3
