A light-weight fabric mod, that allows you to rename and customize your items with powerful commands or a convenient GUI, without spending any anvils or experience

Lore Editing

• Add or remove multiple lore lines
• Lore is now correctly saved/restored like custom item names

Overall Customization Improvements

• Separate color pickers for item names and lore
• Easier formatting without having to remember color codes

Important Note

If you are using a resource pack that has custom item models or name based CIT, please use the following command for renaming items:

/customname

Otherwise, for editing names, lore, colors, etc, you can use the GUI which can be opened by the bindable key in the Controls screen. Default is G.

Commands

• /customname : Renames the item you are currently holding
  • Examples:
    • /customname My Cool Sword
    • /customname Golden Blade
• /customname restore : Restores the name of the item you are currently holding from the saved configuration.
• /customname restoreall : Restore the name of all the items in your inventory.

Installation

Install Fabric Loader and Fabric API then install the mod by downloading the .jar file and placing it in your .minecraft/mods folder.

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.21.x
• Fabric Loader 0.17.2 or newer
• Fabric API
• Java 21 or newer

Use Cases

Item Name Changer is great for:

• Survival players who want to customize their items, but don't have the resources for an anvil
• For Creative builders
• For minigames servers, such as BedWars and SkyWars
• Roleplay servers
• If you use a resource pack with CIT support

Technical details:

• Client only! (Works on any server)
• No permission system needed
