This is my first proper mod, so expect a few bugs. Definitely going to do more work whilst I figure out the forge API.
This mod adds some small changes to the death system.
Current "features" are:
Black screen on death, lasting for a small duration
Instant respawn - NO DEATH SCREEN
All audio is stopped whilst you're deadAlso, if you have issues, LEAVE THEM IN THE GITHUB REPO. not comments.
How to Install NotAFreak's Better Death (Mod)
NotAFreak's Better Death by NotAFreak is verified for Forge, Neoforge across Minecraft versions 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.20.5, 1.20.6, 1.21.1, 1.21.10 (latest release: 1.1.3, file size: 17 KB). Follow the steps below to install it safely from ModCraft.tv:
- Click the Download button above and select your Minecraft version (1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.20.5, 1.20.6, 1.21.1, 1.21.10) and platform (Forge, Neoforge).
- Make sure you have the compatible loader or environment installed for Forge, Neoforge.
- Move the downloaded NotAFreak's Better Death file into your Minecraft
.minecraft/modsfolder and launch the game.

basically ported current 1.1.3 version over to 1.21.1, now running under NeoForge. Yippee
Switching over to neoforge has had a few benefits. For one, porting to newer versions should hopefully be quicker, But more importantly, NeoForge brings back a built-in config system, so users don't have to mess with .toml files. Yipeee!!! :3

- Fixed critical bug that would softlock the palyer and turn them into a ghost stuck between realities in a hellish limbo
- Cleaned up code for networking, therefore multiplayer. should. hopefully. work. now. (it did in testing, and i spent a good amount of time testing).

- ACTUALLY fixed the game mode always being survival after death
- fixed the issue of no items dropping on death

- Finally, FINALLY fixed the mod for multiplayer, it works 100% completely now.
- Added a config option on whether or not the mod forces the instant respawn gamerule. By default it's true

Fixed a MAJOR bug on multiplayer sessions where only the host would receive a death screen, and the received the screen each time a player died.
