What is Paradise Lost?

Paradise Lost is a Skylands Dimension mod, inspired by the legendary Aether mod and looking to provide fresh adventures and fun mechanics to explore. Build a frame out of Bloomed Calcite, flood it with water and step through to Paradise...

Build a cozy home in the sky, forage in new biomes for plants and resources, or go adventuring through expansive structures with unique rewards!

Paradise Lost is designed to fit seamlessly with Vanilla progression and style, becoming accessible after players have explored both the Overworld and Nether. Paradise is home to new mobs, new resources, and many functional and decorative blocks. Unique structures can be discovered and explored where players can discover new equipment, valuables, and more!

## New Gameplay Changes
  • Added a new surface structure, the "Remains", comprised of several ruined buildings surrounded by suspicious dirt that can be brushed to discover new artifacts
  • Added the "Circlet of Knowledge", a new head armor piece that preserves player XP on death, storing it in the circlet
  • These can be found in Remains structures
  • Added Calcite Decorated Pots and Calcite Flower Pots
  • Calcite Decorated Pots are crafted by including a block of calcite in the center of the sherds, and using calcite blocks in place of bricks for blank sides
  • All vanilla Sherds are supported
  • Two new Paradise exclusive Sherds can be found in the Remains and Palace and can be used in normal or calcite Decorated Pots
  • Added a new dungeon structure, the "Palace", decorated lavishly but strangely quiet.
  • The statues throughout the structure may not take kindly to intruders...
  • Added the "Quint", a new passive mob that spawns rarely in the world, in Palaces, and when killing an Enlightened Envoy
  • Quints are able to enlighten nearby Envoys to empower them
  • Added the "Calcified Sentinel", a new neutral/hostile mob that spawns in Olvite Palaces.
  • Quints can enlighten them, and killing one that has been animated has a chance to drop it's sword, the Bloomed Blade
  • Added the "Bloomed Blade", a new weapon that gets stronger the more unique mobs have been slain
  • Added a new Biome, the "Calcite Craglands" which generates with a new "Menth" wood type, replacing Orange wood
  • Any Orange that existed in your world before the upgrade will become Aurel, sorry if your build is ruined by the change
  • Added "Warded Jar" items crafted with Tinted Glass that allows for picking up Quints to transport them
  • Warded Jars can also be used to pick up Allays
  • A craftable Green Cloud block allows for directional entity launching
  • Added Olvite Pressure Plates which only detect players
  • Added 3 new craftable food items
  • Added several new building blocks

  • Aurel Buckets can now be used to pick up Powder Snow
  • Brushes can be crafted with Paradise materials
  • Improved enlightenment effects on Envoys and Calcified Sentinels

  • Added new Advancements for this update's additions

## Compatibility
  • Paradise Lost's wood and stone blocks support Every Compat
  • Fixed structures in certain other mods getting discarded due to a mixin oversight

  • Golden Amber can be used to upgrade gold tools to make them more durable, able to mine at iron level, and super enchantable!

Surtrum can be used to make diamond mining level tools which are fireproof and have innate fire aspect 2. Surtrum meteors must be blown into with an explosive, or can be mined slowly with a diamond level tool.
  • Nitra is a new plant whose seeds are found in the Aurel towers that spawn throughout Paradise.
  • Nitra can be used to create Nitra Bunches, which explode immediately and detonate neighboring Bunches. Explosion is significantly smaller than normal TNT
  • The tree tap is a new block that can be used to fill bottles and bowls with various fluids when attached to specific blocks.
  • Water from wisteria logs
  • Mushroom stew from large mushroom stems
  • Honey from bee nest

  • New terrain block "Levita" can be found in islands rarely and will float upwards (like reverse sand/gravel)
  • Levita Crystals can be found rarely and are used to craft a Redstone Levitator and Levitation Wand
  • Bloomed Calcite is crafted by applying a healing potion onto a calcite block.
  • Placing this block underneath soil of a plant will accelerate it's growth slightly
  • This is also now used as the portal frame block
  • Envoys (a skeleton variant) will now spawn at night in Paradise, and underground. They wield no weapons and have a small chance of dropping Bloomed Calcite
  • Lost Vaults can be found rarely underground with chest loot including the Glazed Gold Upgrade
  • At least 1 powered up Envoy will spawn in these structures
  • This is partially a test run of learning how to make Jigsaw structures for future use in dungeons

### **Many many changes and much needed cleanup to finalize the move away from the Aether.**

  • Many renames/changes to blocks and items from the Aether, mixing up material tiers:**
  • Aerclouds -> Clouds
  • Icestone -> Vitroulite
  • Holystone -> Floestone
  • Ambroisum -> Cherine
  • Zanite -> Olvite
  • Skyroot -> Aurel
  • Golden oak -> Mother Aurel
  • Blueberry -> Blackcurrant
  • Aechor plant -> Hellenrose
  • Aerbunny -> Corsican Hare

  • Many removals in favor of brand new unique to PL features to be added to take their place:**
  • Quicksoil, Quicksoil glass, and Flutegrass
  • Gravitite
  • Crystal wood, Crystal trees, and white apples
  • Swets and Swet balls
  • Dart Shooters
  • All unobtainable loot weapons, armor, tools, and other equipment

  • World generation has been tweaked for a final time**
  • Paradise is far less hilly, and is designed to be more traversable
  • Some areas are dense and flat, some are broken up into small islands, and there are occasional seas of open space
  • Biomes have been redistributed more evenly
  • The Thicket biome has been reworked to be more traversable, less laggy, and contain a higher amount of Mother Aurel Trees
  • The Tower structure has been retouched

Many visual changes have been made, and anything that became a new item has gotten a new set of textures to give Paradise Lost a unique identity, visually distinct from The Aether in color, and hopefully in overall feel.

A huge amount of cleanup was done in regards to leftover files of all kinds, removing any excess unused or outdated bloat, including textures, models, lang, blockstates, loot, and more. A few missing recipes were added and some recipes have been tweaked to be more consistent with PL or with Minecraft in general.

Paradise Lost also has a new set of advancements, covering a more broad range of goals besides collecting items, and hopefully will help to indicate that certain actions can be done, specifically taming moas, using the feeding trough, and stripping Mother Aurel trees for amber.

Additionally, a few breaking bugs have been fixed, notably crashes related to PL's crops, removing the bugged holiday leaves feature, and simple compatibility with the Better Combat Mod

Our internal library, Incubus Core, has been updated and contains the respective features and fixes in the latest release.
