Secret Blocks adds blocks that take the look of the blocks around them. Use them to build hidden rooms, secret doors, traps and redstone that nobody can see.

  • Place a secret block against a wall, and it looks like that wall.
  • Underneath, it works like the block it stands in for: a door still opens, a chest still holds items, a repeater still repeats.
  • Tools let you change a block's look face by face, or see through every disguise.

A villager steps on a hidden pressure plate and a door opens in a brick wall

Every block and tool, with recipes and pictures, is in the wiki.

See through every disguise

The Builder's Goggles show the real block behind each disguise. On the left, a wall as anyone sees it; on the right, the same wall through the goggles: secret redstone, a repeater, a comparator, an observer, a daylight detector and a sculk sensor.

  • Minecraft 1.19.2, Fabric Loader 0.14.21 or later, and Fabric API.
  • With Sodium, you also need Indium.

Credits

  • AbrarSyed, Sindavar33 and wyn_price made the original Secret Rooms Mod. Secret Blocks uses its item textures under its LGPL-3.0 licence, and follows its designs for the Secret Gate, Torch Lever, Secret Trapped Chest, Secret Daylight Detector and six-sided Secret Redstone Wire.
  • LudoCrypt made True Secret Rooms (LGPL-3.0), the first Fabric port of Secret Rooms features, which this mod began from.

Secret Blocks now runs on all four loaders for Minecraft 1.20.1, with the
same blocks and tools as 2.0.0.

  • Two downloads:**
  • secret-blocks-fabric-1.20.1-2.1.0.jar for Fabric and Quilt, on
Minecraft 1.20 or 1.20.1. It needs Fabric Loader 0.16.10 or later (or
Quilt Loader 0.30.1 or later) and Fabric API 0.83.0 or later (on Quilt,
Fabric API or Quilted Fabric API).
  • secret-blocks-neoforge-1.20.1-2.1.0.jar for NeoForge and Forge 1.20.1
(Forge 47.1 or later).
  • Connected textures now connect disguised faces,** One Way Glass
included. Tested on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Continuity on Fabric and Quilt,
and with Fusion on NeoForge. With one of them installed, the faces
between One Way Glass blocks are hidden, so a wall of them reads as one
pane.
  • Known limitation: Continuity on Forge (through Sinytra Connector)
connects other disguised faces but not One Way Glass faces. Fusion is
expected to work on Forge as it does on NeoForge (the same download),
but has not been tested there yet.
  • Builder's Goggles with Sodium 0.5:** faded blocks are now see-through
ghost faces. In 2.0.0 they were dark and hid the blocks inside.
  • Embeddium and Oculus** are supported (tested on NeoForge, and on Forge
alongside Sinytra Connector).
  • Fixed:** a crash at start-up with Quilt Loader 0.30.
  • Fixed:** an error in the log at start-up with older Fabric API
versions (data for an unfinished block is no longer shipped).
  • Worlds from 2.0.0 keep their secret blocks and disguises on every
loader.

Full changelog: [CHANGELOG.md](https://github.com/calibergames/secret-blocks/blob/1.20.1/CHANGELOG.md). Compatibility, including connected textures on each loader: [wiki](https://github.com/calibergames/secret-blocks/wiki/Compatibility).

Secret Blocks 2.0.0 for Minecraft 1.20.1: the same blocks and tools as
2.0.0 for 1.19.2 (below). Blocks that copy vanilla ones follow Minecraft
1.20's own changes: for example, sculk sensors report the new vibration
frequencies.

  • Requires Minecraft 1.20.1 exactly,** Fabric Loader 0.16.10 or later,
and Fabric API.
  • Secret Sculk Sensor:** a mob stepping or landing on it gives full
power, as on a vanilla sensor.
  • Sodium 0.5 needs Indium,** as on 1.19.2. Iris shader packs work.
  • Continuity 3** runs alongside, but its connected textures do not use
a secret block's look yet.
  • Worlds from 1.19.2 keep their secret blocks and disguises.

## What 2.0.0 brings

The biggest update yet: a full set of secret redstone, containers, pistons and
gates, new tools, and secret blocks that look, sound and behave like the
block they copy. Every block is described in the
[wiki](https://github.com/calibergames/secret-blocks/wiki).

#### New blocks

  • Pressure plates:** Secret Pressure Plate, Secret Player Pressure Plate,
and Secret Light and Heavy Weighted Pressure Plates. Each is a full floor
block that works as a pressure plate.
  • Redstone:**
  • Secret Redstone Wire, which carries a signal on all six sides;
  • Secret Repeater and Secret Comparator;
  • Secret Observer;
  • Secret Daylight Detector, with day and night modes;
  • Secret Sculk Sensor;
  • Torch Lever.
  • Containers:** Secret Trapped Chest, Secret Dispenser, Secret Dropper and
Secret Hopper.
  • Pistons and gates:**
  • Secret Piston and Secret Sticky Piston;
  • Secret Gate, which builds a line of disguised blocks while powered
and takes it away again.
  • Secret Clamber:** a wall you walk into and climb down slowly. It
replaces the unfinished Secret Ladder.

#### New tools

  • Builder's Goggles:** see the real block behind every disguise.
  • A key (B by default) switches the view.
  • Get them from the creative inventory or /give.
  • Camouflage Wand:** turns vanilla blocks into secret blocks and back.
Creative mode or operators only.

#### Changes

  • Picking a look:** a secret block copies the block you click to place
it:
  • glass, stained glass and leaves count as full blocks;
  • partial blocks give stone;
  • clicking another secret block copies the face you clicked.

See [How disguises work](https://github.com/calibergames/secret-blocks/wiki/How-Disguises-Work).
  • One Way Glass:** sneak while placing to put the glass on the top or
bottom.
  • Like their look:** secret blocks sound like the block they look like,
mine like it (tools speed them up as they would), and stand up to
explosions like it.
  • They always drop themselves when mined.
  • Explosions drop them as vanilla drops blocks.
  • Pistons** push and pull secret blocks, which keep their disguise.
  • Light:** passes through see-through looks such as glass and leaves.
  • Drawing:** each face is drawn with its look's own model.
  • Connected textures work with Continuity 2.0.x, on 1.19.2 only so far.
  • Leaves follow the Fast and Fancy setting.
  • Stained glass is translucent.
  • Grass gets its biome colour.
  • Secret Iron Door and Secret Iron Trapdoor:** only redstone opens them,
as for vanilla iron doors.
  • Secret Redstone Dust:** powers the blocks beside it as vanilla dust
does.
  • Switch Probe and Rotator Probe:** their changes are saved with the
world.
  • Secret Sculk Sensor:** gives off no light, so it cannot be found in
the dark.
  • Recipes:**
  • the Secret Chest, Secret Lever, Secret Redstone Dust and Secret Stone
Button can now be crafted;
  • polished blackstone buttons and pressure plates work in place of
stone ones.

#### Compatibility

  • Requires Minecraft 1.20.1 exactly,** Fabric Loader 0.16.10 or later,
and Fabric API.
  • Sodium needs Indium.** Without it, the game stops at launch with a
message saying so.
  • Works with:**
  • Iris shader packs;
  • Carpet.

See [Compatibility](https://github.com/calibergames/secret-blocks/wiki/Compatibility).

#### Worlds from 1.2.0

  • Worlds made with 1.2.0 load in 2.0.0. Secret blocks keep their disguises,
and Secret Chests keep their contents.
  • In 1.2.0, hoppers and droppers could push items into plain secret
blocks, where they were lost. Those items now drop when the block is
broken.
