This is an addon for the Shape Shifter Curse mod. It introduces new mechanics, gameplay styles, and abilities for various forms, allowing you to access even more powerful forms.
When the curse completely fuses with the Moon Marrow, you are no longer a mere mortal, but an Apostle of the Moon.
You can go to GitHub to download the latest test package; I will update it on releases from time to time.
There is also a 1.21.1 version developed by wuhenqiubai available here for everyone to play.

A cross-ring condensed from moonlight. Use it during a Cursed Moon while in your Complete Form to expand your abilities.
v8.0.0 Preview — The Moondust Grimoire Is Coming!
The next major update introduces a brand-new Moondust Magic System — a full spellcasting framework built around the Moondust Grimoire.
Moondust Grimoire & 21 Spells
Craft the Grimoire, gather scrolls, and cast 21 unique spells across fire, frost, lunar, curse, void, space, and nature schools — each with charge-up casting, interrupt rules, and mana costs that scale by tier.
Spell Formations & the Infusion Altar
Research and inscribe enhancement formations on the new Research Table, then empower them at the Infusion Altar. Formations boost same-school spells, oppose rival schools, and reshape your casting strategy.
Pocket Space
Store your ritual supplies in a personal pocket dimension — a private space carved out of reality itself.
More New Content
New ink types, blank formation paper, moonlight guardians, scroll tiers, form-affinity casting bonuses, and more balance passes across all forms.
More details will be revealed as development progresses. Follow the project to catch the release!

Compared with 8.0.0-magic-dev.1, this update adds five spells, rune research and spell enhancement, alongside changes to spellbook progression, form combat, and visuals.
## New Spells
- Domain**: Charge to create an enclosed domain lasting 40 seconds. Movement and attacks across its boundary are blocked.
- EXPLOSION**: After a long charge, unleash a large, indiscriminate explosion at the selected location, with dedicated visuals and theme audio.
- Lunar Phase**: Lock onto a player or creature and exchange health percentages. Each participant's health changes by no more than 50 HP and cannot fall below 1 HP.
- Beep Sheep**: Launch a sheep projectile that temporarily turns eligible targets into sheep, preventing attacks, block breaking, and block placement. Bosses and creatures with more than 50 maximum HP are immune.
- Death Is the End of Everything**: Charge in place for 13 seconds, then deal massive spell damage to targets not protected by the whitelist within a 13-block spherical radius. Threatened players receive a countdown and a warning around the edges of their screen.
- Added exploration-based acquisition routes: Domain scrolls can appear in loot chests in the End, EXPLOSION scrolls in the Nether, and Death Is the End of Everything scrolls in the Overworld.
## Rune Research and Spell Enhancement
- Added rune research, scroll analysis, analyzed diagrams, tiered formation assembly, trial runs, and scroll imprinting.
- Introduced 18 rune types. Players can investigate spell formations and customize their enhancement rings to modify supported attributes such as damage, healing, area, range, projectile speed, and duration, with corresponding mana, charge time, cooldown, and stability costs.
- Rune meanings and formation rules are generated for each world save. Research progress and completed designs can be saved.
- Added interactions between adjacent runes, conflicts, and resonance effects, with design comparisons and explanations of current contributions, costs, and failure reasons. Research hints leave room for discovery without revealing exact rune recipes for individual spells.
- Formations must pass a trial run before they can be finalized. The enhancement ring may remain entirely empty; once enhancement runes are used, the whole ring must be filled, with at least 20 stability and no hard conflicts.
- Naturally generated regular scrolls remain unenhanced. Only scrolls with an actual enhancement ring receive the **Modified** suffix, consistently displayed in item tooltips and the spell HUD.
- Removed the starter-scroll claim feature, shifting spell acquisition toward exploration and research.
## Spellbooks and Casting
- Increased the attribute formation slots of level-three spellbooks from **5 to 6**. The Infusion Altar now uses a six-pointed layout.
- Changed the spellbook upgrade catalyst from a **Super Morphscale Core to a Morphscale Core**. The upgrade interface now explains material requirements, experience, and upgrade effects more clearly.
- Spellbook casts now consume mana progressively during charging. The full mana cost must still be available at the start; mana already spent is not refunded if casting is interrupted.
- Improved purification: it immediately interrupts spells and relevant charging abilities, applying their full cooldown. Spellcasting is blocked while purified.
- Added clearer feedback for damage and action interruptions, insufficient mana or capacity, cooldowns, spellbook switching delays, and invalid targets.
- Reworked the spellbook HUD layer, repositioned the mana cost display, and improved modified-spell display and cooldown synchronization.
- Adjusted the base cooldowns and level scaling of several spells, along with the mana cost of Space Recall.
## Forms and Combat
- Added extra damage, control, or defensive effects against non-player creatures for multiple forms, while retaining whitelist protection. These include Axolotl, Snow Fox, Allay, Fallen Allay, Wild Cat, Wind Spirit, Nova, Mancianima, Netherjudge, Moon Weaver, Salticidae, and bat forms.
- Added **Kill Empowerment** to SP Familiar Fox and Familiar Fox (Red). Killing an eligible target with a normal ability grants empowerment for 10 seconds, allowing one primary or secondary ability to ignore cooldown and mana requirements. Empowered abilities cannot trigger further empowerment.
- Adjusted Mancianima's teleport and linked attack mechanics, and strengthened Salticidae's secondary ability.
- Unified form ability cooldown management. Cooldowns can now be configured to begin on cast, on release, or when the ability ends, with separate cooldowns for failed casts.
- Expanded datapack support for form and ability balance settings, allowing servers to customize relevant parameters.
## Visuals, Audio, and Performance
- Updated textures for Fluorescent Axolotl, Aling, Mancianima, Netherjudge, Golden Sandstorm (SP), Nova, Frostspine, Salticidae, SP Allay, Wild Cat (SP), Nightmare, Desmodus, and Parasitic Fruit Bat. Also adjusted the body glow intensity of Allay and Fallen Allay forms.
- Updated the spellbook and Spell Research Table models and textures, the Infusion Altar interface, and icons for the new spells.
- Doubled the relevant sound propagation ranges for addon spells and form abilities while preserving their volume.
- Improved first-person particle visibility and transparency rendering, with better handling of certain shader and AsyncParticles configurations.
- Optimized countdown synchronization, selected frequent state checks, and cached geometry used to render spell circles.
## Compatibility and Bug Fixes
- Added native **EMI** support and improved **JEI / REI** displays, descriptions, and ingredient transfer for special recipes.
- Added crafting or acquisition information for potions, the Axolotl Humidifier, Snowball Launcher, Blizzard Tank, energy bottling, and magical research. Fixed ingredient transfer issues involving missing materials, full inventories, ingredients already in the crafting grid, and additional item data.
- Fixed wild Axolotl Shifters incorrectly deciding when to return to water, getting stuck while leaving water, and circling during pursuit. Improved reachable-water selection and movement on land and in water.
- Fixed Salticidae double-jump animation issues, along with validation and cooldown errors affecting some charging abilities when invalidated, changing forms, reloading data, or processing delayed callbacks.
- Fixed missing damage from Familiar Fox (Red) fireballs, incorrect attribution of foxfire burn damage, and several Domain boundary and display issues.

- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Shape Shifter Curse ≥ 1.9.0 (1.9.2 recommended)
- Trinkets ≥ 3.7.2
- Fabric Loader ≥ 0.14.21
## 🎁 Accessory Acquisition
Several form-exclusive accessories can now be found in world chests — crafting recipes are kept, so you can still craft them or find them:
1. Abandoned Mineshaft chests (20% each): Blood Garnet, Bloodlust Ring (Vampire Bat); Humus Ring, Twin Pod (Parasitic Fruit Bat)
2. Desert Pyramid chests (15% each): Crystal of the Anubis Scepter (SP Anubis Wolf); Erosion Sand Prism, Withered Sand Ring (SP Golden Sandstorm)
## 3. 🧪 Familiar Forms — Potion Handling
1. Potions can now be stacked, and a double-click merges them into one stack.
2. Drag a potion onto the Potion Bag to stash it instantly.
3. Reworked the Familiar forms' potion-retrieval flow, with an improved Potion Bag model, texture, and display.
## ⌨️ Custom Keybinds
You can now rebind each form's skill keys from ModMenu.
## ⚔️ Balance & Visuals
1. Red Familiar's Blue Fire Ring buffed — more damage, lower mana cost, now stronger than the SP Familiar's.
2. Foxfire fireball — richer particle trail and a bigger size; it now glows while flying (requires the LambDynamicLights mod).
## 🐛 Bug Fixes
1. Fixed the Red/SP Familiar amulet's water-freezing area not matching its actual range.
2. Fixed the Allay form's jukebox music not following the player; also compressed the audio to reduce the mod's file size.
1. Potion bag functionality improved: right-click while holding the bag now quickly uses the potion in the first slot; sneak + right-click opens the potion bag GUI.
2. Bat Desmodus and Parasitic Fruit Bat accessories changed from craftable to loot-only: 20% chance to drop in Abandoned Mineshaft chests.
1.Added a hidden advancement "Power of the Moon Scar": unlocked after collecting all books related to the Lord of the Spirit Realm (Moon Scar: Lord of the Spirit Realm Chapters 1–8 + Epilogue, 9 books total, plus the Familiar Research Record FF-E-013). Books carry a language-independent hidden identifier, so the advancement works correctly in both Chinese and English.
2.Added the "Power of the Moon Scar" story chain: once the advancement is unlocked while in SP Familiar Fox form, you receive a one-time whisper hint; sleeping during a Cursed Moon night will then let the SP Familiar Fox truly fall asleep (using the feral sleeping animation) and transform into the RED form upon waking. While in the story RED state, you can use the Moon Essence Cross at any time to freely revert to SP Familiar Fox (without consuming the item). Fully server-authoritative and consistent across reconnect/respawn/multiplayer.
3.Finalized the evolution path of Mancianima (the Evolution Stone variant of the Familiar Fox).
4.Fixed the transformation animation for the addon's feral forms: the 7 feral forms — SP Familiar Fox, RED, SP Snow Fox, SP Anubis, Golden Sandstorm, SP Wild Cat, and Mancianima — now correctly play the "upright→feral" transformation animation instead of the previously incorrect upright animation.
5.Added a first-time tutorial for the color editor: the first time you open the Advanced Color Screen, a step-by-step highlighted guide introduces each functional area and preset management. Once viewed or skipped, it won't pop up again (remembered per save).
6.Optimized the health passive mechanics of the two bat forms (Desmodus Bat, Parasitic Fruit Bat) and added a matching accessory.
7.Further optimized the behavior and multiplayer synchronization of Fruit Bat related abilities (Infection Spore, Parasitic Absorption, Parasitic Seed Field, Parasitic Fruit).
8.Improved the Fox Fire Breath ability sound effect (SP Familiar Fox and RED forms), switching to a more expressive fox screech.
9.Reworked the damage detection of the SP Axolotl "Enhanced Water Burst" ability (now uses a spherical area-of-effect), fixing host/client inconsistency in multiplayer.
10.Improved the combat-state detection sync for Golden Sandstorm and merged it with the existing combat system.
11.SP Familiar Fox is now immune to the relevant effects applied by bat forms (Regeneration, Poison, Absorption), preventing cross-form misfires.
12.Fixed SP Familiar Fox displaying the ordinary Familiar Fox texture; Mancianima texture adjusted accordingly.
13.Fixed several host/client synchronization issues, improving multiplayer stability.
14.Unified the English name of the Moon Essence Cross across all descriptions and story texts.
15.Improved the functionality of the potion bag.
16.Added three potions (to be improved).
17.Fixed a bug that could cause game saves to become corrupted.
Attention: If you have downloaded the previous beta.2 version, please uninstall it immediately! That version may cause a risk of corrupted game saves.
1. Fixed the "Enable SSCA Color Editor" toggle being effectively ignored when set to OFF: the "Advanced Color" button was still being injected into the upper-right of SSC's vanilla config screen regardless of the toggle, so clicking "Adjust Appearance Color" always opened the SSCA color editor. The toggle is now properly respected; when OFF the button is no longer injected and any previously-injected leftover button is actively removed.
2. Fixed the
FormColorSelectMenu is already in use, only one instance is allowed error that occurred when reopening the color screen after SSCA had intercepted the vanilla FormColorSelectMenu: the singleton lock and temporary-texture state held by the vanilla screen are now cleaned up at the moment of interception, preventing the state leak caused by close() never being called.3. Removed the addon's hard datapack overrides of the vanilla advancements
minecraft:nether/netherite_armor and minecraft:story/shiny_gear: SSC 1.9.2 now patches the item predicates of these advancements at runtime, making the addon's overrides redundant. This improves compatibility with other mods and datapacks that also modify these vanilla advancements.## 1. New SP Form: **Mancianima** (branched from Familiar Fox)

- Yellow Mark: **15 mana**, 32-block range mob marking, 5s first-press CD

6. Modified Witch Familiar loot drops.
I really need another computer to test the stability of mods in the multiplayer environment. The unique bug in the multiplayer environment is extremely difficult for me to detect in a timely manner.
- Added the Witch Familiar, a new hostile entity whose model closely resembles the vanilla SSC Familiar Fox.
- The Witch Familiar possesses abilities similar to those of the player-controlled Familiar Fox, including a fire ring attack and raid faction affiliation.
- Witch Familiars spawn alongside witches during Raids, and also have a very low chance of spawning naturally in the wild.
- Optimized SP Anubis Wolf's abilities.
- SP Familiar Fox and Familiar Fox Red's Fox Fire can now occasionally freeze water, better aligning with the lore.
- Familiar Fox Red's body size has been increased to better match the story.
PS: As the author's sophomore year has begun, the update frequency has slowed down significantly recently. I apologize for this.
This update introduces the SP Anubis Wolf — Netherjudge form.
Since the other Anubis Wolf variant that requires an Evolution Stone to evolve needs a significant amount of development time, a beta version is being released first for everyone to enjoy. Unlike previous betas, bugs in this version will be actively fixed and patched in a timely manner. If you encounter any issues, please submit an Issue on GitHub — your help is greatly appreciated!
The Evolution Stone variant will be available at a later date.
A tutorial for the beta version will be provided on the Wiki.
