Skylands over the Seas

This is a datapack that changes the overworld generation to be floating islands, with a twist! All of the ocean biomes are generated below you. All caves and underground biomes are generated under the ocean.

IMPORTANT:

Versions below 3.0.0 of the datapack/mod alter the dimension height. This was added at first to add more breathing room for building on the islands, but I have since removed it in 3.0.0+, as this will corrupt worlds when the mod is removed. 3.0.0 does not have this issue. If you are migrating a 2.X.X pack to 1.21.9+, please use version 2.0.4, but note that it will not be supported for future versions. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Also checkout

  • Angel Islands a mod that changes the normal overworld to include Aetherial Islands when in deep ocean biomes!
  • Aetherial Islands: Clusters Edit an add-on that creates zones where islands will and won't generate, creating large gaps between island clusters (works for Skylands over the Seas as well!).
  • Diabolical Islands a mod that brings the Aetherial Island generation to the Nether!

Compatibility: Does this work with insert mod name here?

If that mod changes the terrain, one of the mods will probably overwrite the other. If that mod adds biomes, it should be compatible, but if you have issues with bodies of water not generating, use the optional dependency, Lithostitched. This is just because of the tricky technique I had to use to make this, along with Minecraft's weirdness with surface builders. Some issues may need specific compatibility packs made, which I may make in the future.

  • Changes:
  • No longer modifies dimension height
  • Notes:
  • If you are migrating a 2.X.X world to 1.21.10, please use version 2.0.4, which was created for that specific reason. These versions modify dimension height, which can corrupt chunks when the mod is removed, which is why I have discontinued this feature in 3.0.0+

  • Changes:
  • 1.21.9+ support
  • Fixes:
  • Clouds not appearing in 1.21.6+
  • Notes:
  • This will be the last version that supports the changed world height. This is because this was an invasive feature that could corrupt worlds. All 3.0.0+ versions will no longer be compatible. Be warned before continuing a long world on this version.

## Initial Release
  • Notes:
  • Yes, I know that there are more up to date versions of this data pack. However, 1.18.2 is evil
