Snowy Weaponry

Snowballs with metal chunks, and snow cones too!

_This mod is an entry for MMD's WinterJam 2020!_

For getting most item recipes, I recommend Just Enough Items by mezz, or Roughly Enough Items by shedaniel.

Weaponized Snowballs

Adds weaponized snowballs! Inflict damage upon your foes (and maybe friends?) with the might of these packed snow chunks with embedded metal or gunpowder!

  • Iron-cored Snowball - Inflicts one heart of damage
  • Gold-cored-Snowball - Inflicts half a heart of damage, and has Looting I when killing
  • Diamond-cored Snowball - Inflicts one and a half heart of damage, and inflicts Slowness I for one and a half seconds
  • Netherite-cored Snowball - Inflicts two hearts of damage, and inflicts Blindness I for two seconds
  • Explosive Snowballs - Explodes on impact, dealing moderate damage to all entities nearby

Snow Cones

Craft snow cones, a wonderful wintertime treat for your friends! Dip them in potions too, and get the effects at a reduced duration but multiple uses!

  • Wafer Cones - Restores half a hunger stick, and a tiny amount of saturation
  • Snow Cones - Restores one hunger stick, and a little bit of saturation
  • Golden Snow Cones - Restores two hunger sticks, a large amount of saturation, and gives Fire Resistance I for 6 seconds; can be eaten while full!
  • Dipped Snow Cones - Restores one hunger stick, and a little bite of saturation; applies the potion which it was crafted with
    • Dipped snow cones are crafted with (as of v1.18.0) 8 snow cones surrounding 1 potion/splash potion.

How to Install Snowy Weaponry (Mod)

Snowy Weaponry by sciwhiz12 is verified for Forge, Neoforge across Minecraft versions 1.16.3, 1.16.4, 1.16.5, 1.18.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.1, 1.19.2, 1.19.3 (latest release: 1.20.0, file size: 59 KB). Follow the steps below to install it safely from ModCraft.tv:

  1. Click the Download button above and select your Minecraft version (1.16.3, 1.16.4, 1.16.5, 1.18.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.1, 1.19.2, 1.19.3) and platform (Forge, Neoforge).
  2. Make sure you have the compatible loader or environment installed for Forge, Neoforge.
  3. Move the downloaded Snowy Weaponry file into your Minecraft .minecraft/mods folder and launch the game.

Initial release for 26.3. The only notable change is the identifier for the potion snow cone's recipe and advancement, making it consistent with the item's identifier.

  • 🛠️ **Adjusted crafting recipe for potion cones**

The crafting recipe for potion cones is changed to use 8 snow cones rather than 4 snow cones. This aligns the recipe with the crafting recipe for tipped arrows. The duration of the resulting potion cones remains the same as before (an 1/8th of the original potion).

  • The looting level applied to a mob's drops is the maximum of the thrown golden-cored snowball and the enchantment of the player's held item. (Previously, the looting level of the thrown golden-cored snowball always overrides the held item's enchantment.)

  • 🖼️ **Adjusted potion snow cone model to remove Z-fighting on model.**

Instead of the model using the snow_cone texture for the base, it now uses a dedicated potion_snow_cone_base item texture. This eliminates Z-fighting on the item model caused by the overlap between the old base texture and the potion overlay texture.

  • 🔍 **Compressed and cleaned up texture files.**

A lossless PNG optimizer was used on the texture files, to reduce their filesize (even if they're already tiny). Additionally, some non-solid (transparent/translucent) pixels were removed from the textures. In particular, the textures for the snow cone and the potion snow cone overlay had some translucent pixels removed.
