Latest version, with the Minecraft version it runs on Download count Fabric loader Requires the Worlds mod

Stargate brings dimensional travel through ancient gates to Fabric. Find an address, place it on a gate's control panel and step into one of eight kinds of worlds, among them Wellspring, a fan-made take on the Sift, the fourth dimension Mojang announced at Minecraft LIVE for 2027. Each hostile world has one danger, and vanilla potions and armour are all you need to face it. Stargate is built on Worlds, so every gate world is a real vanilla level with its own time, weather and game rules.

Eight worlds
A blub, a glowing blue rabbit-like creature, sitting in Wellspring's coral-pink meadow under a turquoise sky

Wellspring

Coral meadows, white willow forests, a pale-teal desert and rose mesas under a sky that drifts from turquoise to peach to navy. Lilac ichor burns and drains experience: bring Fire Resistance or a Chorus Fruit. Blubs, villages, ancient cities and five new blocks.

A fan-made take on the Sift, not Mojang's dimension.

Floating Islands

Islands above a sea of clouds, with waterfalls off their edges and roots beneath. Colossal heart trees glow at night around an amethyst heart, tended by gentle Mossy Guardians in a grove where no monsters spawn. Now and then a Golden Skyfall turns the sky gold. Falls between islands are slowed.

The Melted world: dark-red fog over molten terrain with ash and embers in the air

Melted

A molten world with no sky, dark-red fog, drifting ash and embers, and more blazes and magma cubes than the Nether. You catch fire without Fire Resistance.

Dark

A shadow realm where darkness never lifts and endermen roam. Night Vision keeps the dark away.

The Dark world at night: a dim forest under a violet sky with faint stars
  • Frozen. Endless snow that slows you, and blizzards that freeze anyone caught outside. Leather boots or Frost Walker handle the snow; shelter or a piece of leather armour keeps the cold out.
  • Ocean. An endless sea where the pressure slows your mining. Water Breathing stops it; Aqua Affinity and Depth Strider soften it.
  • Desert. Vast dunes and badlands under a sun that makes you hungry. Each piece of gold armour helps, and a full set keeps you cool.
  • Tropics. A lush tropical paradise, the one world without a hazard.

Gates can also lead to ordinary Overworld- and Nether-style worlds. Visit all eight kinds for the Galaxy Brain advancement.

How to play
An open stargate in a birch forest at night, glowing coral pink because it leads to Wellspring, with its control panel in front
  1. Find a gate. Each world has only a couple. Craft a Stargate Eye from an Ender Pearl and a Shulker Shell and throw it like an Eye of Ender, or run /locate structure #stargate:stargate.
  2. Get an address. Stargate Address Books wait in the loot of ancient cities, desert pyramids, jungle temples and pillager outposts. Some hold the address of the world you are in, to share or to dial home; others lead somewhere new. A route book keeps several addresses, and the page you leave open is the one you dial.
  3. Dial. Place the book on the gate's control panel. Sounds and particles tell you whether it worked and, if not, why. The first trip to a new world takes a moment while it generates.
  4. Step through. Every gate glows in its destination's colour, with particles that hint at what waits on the other side, and the chest beside it is stocked for that world. Eat a Chorus Fruit while looking at an open gate up to 32 blocks away to jump straight through it.
Control panel and redstone

Redstone, maps and compasses

  • Redstone pulses when a gate opens, a traveller arrives or a page turns; a comparator reads the page.
  • Power the panel to lock the gate both ways.
  • A filled map marks the gate; a compass points back to it.
  • Advancements for every world, Chorus Fruit travel and more.

Game rule and admin commands
  • /gamerule stargate:stargate-debug-address-generation true makes panels dial random valid addresses instead of reading books, for testing.
  • /stargate debug givebook origin|remote|addresses [count] gives address books, and /stargate debug createworld <name> <kind> creates a gate world of a chosen kind.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 26.3; older Minecraft versions are on the Versions tab
  • Fabric Loader and Fabric API
  • Worlds 1.8.24 or newer

Install Fabric Loader, Fabric API and Worlds, put the Stargate jar in your mods folder, and start the client or server.

Requires Worlds 1.8.24 or newer.

### Fixed

  • The sky no longer flickers to the Overworld's time in stargate worlds.
  • Works with Worldthreader: dialing a gate no longer freezes the server.

### Added

  • Huge ancient heart trees can now be found in the Floating Islands. They grow around a hollow amethyst heart, their roots hang deep below the island, and at night they softly glow.
  • A Heart Grove surrounds every heart tree, with teal leaves, a lavender sky and glowing motes in the air. Monsters don't spawn there.
  • Mossy Guardians, gentle moss-covered golems, watch over the heart trees and tend their flowers.
  • Golden Skyfall: sometimes the Floating Islands sky turns gold for a few minutes, with amethyst chimes ringing around you.
  • Roots, glowing vines and moss now hang beneath the floating islands, and waterfalls pour off their edges.
  • Snow always falls in the Frozen world, and blizzards sweep in from time to time, freezing anyone caught outside.
  • Ash and embers drift through the air of the Melted world.

### Changed

  • The Floating Islands have their own sky, with a sea of clouds below, pink-gold sunsets and darker, starrier nights.

### Fixed

  • Structures no longer generate in the void of the Floating Islands.

Requires Worlds 1.8.23 or newer.

### Fixed

  • With Iris shader packs such as Complementary, Melted no longer shows a sky and daylight. It now uses the pack's Nether shaders.
  • Melted's fog is dark red everywhere. In its mountain, badlands, pale garden and deep dark areas it had a purple tint, which shaders turned pink.

### Changed

  • Ichor now sets you on fire with violet flames instead of hurting you directly, so you keep burning for a few seconds after you climb out. It also burns up items dropped into it. Fire Resistance protects you from it, and Fire Protection shortens the burn. Mobs, including blubs, can still swim in it unharmed.

### Fixed

  • Ichor now drains experience from anyone who has some. Before, levels from commands or kept with keepInventory were never drained.

### Added

  • /stargate debug createworld <name> <kind> [<amplified> <largeBiomes>] creates a stargate world of a chosen kind, for testing.

### Changed

  • A new mod icon featuring Wellspring.
  • Floating Islands that used to sit low on ocean-floor terrain are now land near sea level, with lakes and rivers in their valleys. In existing worlds, newly generated parts of such islands can sit higher than the parts you already explored.

### Fixed

  • Floating Islands no longer have water hanging in the void or islands flooded into deep pools. Lakes and rivers stay on the islands, held in by their shores.
  • Amplified and large-biome Floating Islands worlds generate their original island shapes again. Since the update to Minecraft 26.3, new chunks in these worlds no longer lined up with the ones explored before.
  • Mountain gates in the Floating Islands are set into the mountain just like in other worlds, instead of being buried deep inside the island or left standing on top of it.

### Added

  • A new world to dial: **Wellspring**, inspired by the Sift, Minecraft's upcoming fourth dimension.
  • Explore coral-pink meadows under a turquoise sky, rose and teal meadows, forests of white willows, a pale-teal desert with steel-blue cliffs, and tall rose-coloured mesas.
  • The sky drifts from turquoise to peach to deep navy over the course of a day.
  • Watch your step: Wellspring's lilac rivers, lakes and seas burn you and drain your experience. Fire Resistance keeps you safe, and eating Chorus Fruit there gives you a short dose of it.
  • Meet the blub, a glowing, rabbit-like critter that lives there.
  • Collect five new blocks: Wellspring Soil, Wellspring Stone, Wellspring Shell, Wellspring Willow Leaves and Wellspring Willow Moss.
  • Villages, desert pyramids, jungle temples, ancient cities, pillager outposts, woodland mansions and shipwrecks all turn up there.
  • Gates that lead to Wellspring glow coral pink.
  • A new advancement, Sifted Through, for your first visit to Wellspring.

### Changed

  • The Galaxy Brain advancement now asks you to visit all eight kinds of stargate dimension. If you already had it, it shows as unfinished again until you visit Wellspring.
  • Gates lead to ordinary Overworld and Nether worlds a little less often, to make room for Wellspring.

### Fixed

  • Unlit caves in the Floating Islands, Desert, Ocean, Tropics and Frozen dimensions are no longer pitch black. They are now as dark as caves in the Overworld.

### Added

  • Support for Minecraft 26.3 (Fabric API 0.160.5+26.3).

### Added

  • Support for Minecraft 26.3 Release Candidate 3 (Fabric API 0.160.4+26.3).

### Added

  • Support for Minecraft 26.3 Release Candidate 2 (Fabric API 0.160.3+26.3).

Requires Worlds 1.8.19 or newer.

### Added

  • Support for Minecraft 26.3 Release Candidate 1 (Fabric API 0.160.3+26.3).

Requires Worlds 1.8.18 or newer.

### Added

  • Support for Minecraft 26.3 Pre-Release 3
  • Every gate now has a supply chest. What's inside suits the world the gate stands in — torches and glow berries in the dark dimension, fire charges and blaze rods in the molten one, snowballs and blue ice in the frozen one, and useful everyday gear at gates in the Overworld and the Nether.

### Fixed

  • Desert and mountain gates are properly sunk into the ground now. Around two thirds of desert gates and half of mountain gates were standing fully exposed on the surface.
  • Stargate eyes no longer do nothing when you throw them while aiming at a block.
  • Endermen no longer appear in lit rooms in the dark dimension.
  • Filling your inventory no longer destroys the book from /stargate debug givebook.

### Changed

  • Your Stargate advancements have been reset and must be earned again.** They were filed under Minecraft's own advancements by mistake, which also meant the game counted them as vanilla progress. They now sit in their own Stargate group, where they belong.
  • Your stargate worlds will now keep their landscape through future Minecraft updates and through changes to the mod's dimension line-up. Each world remembers how it was first rolled and rebuilds itself the same way every time.
  • Mobs in stargate dimensions now spawn under the normal rules, so they turn up in the places you would expect. Parrots and allays are unchanged.
  • The address book can now be translated into other languages.

### Added

  • Destination-colored portals** — each portal now glows with a color that matches the destination dimension (red-orange for Melted, ice blue for Frozen, deep violet for Dark, and so on), so you can tell where a gate leads at a glance
  • Ambient portal particles** — portals emit themed particles near the surface: snowflakes for Frozen, ash for Melted, clouds for Floating Islands, bubbles for Ocean, and more
  • Route Books** — books with multiple Stargate addresses now work as route books; flip to a different page on the Control Panel to dial a different destination
  • Dialing feedback** — the Control Panel now plays a sound and shows colored particles to tell you what happened: a chime when a gate opens, a hum while dialing, or a warning tone if the address is invalid, the destination is locked, or no gate was found
  • Incoming traveler pulse** — the destination Control Panel emits a short redstone pulse whenever someone arrives through the gate, letting you build arrival detectors with redstone
  • Portal open pulse** — both Control Panels emit a redstone pulse the moment a portal pair is successfully created
  • Admin debug commands** — added /stargate debug givebook for server admins to generate address books on the fly, including multi-address route books

### Fixed

  • Multiple players dialing into the same destination world at the same time no longer causes connection failures
  • Closing a portal that was placed in water now restores the water instead of leaving an air pocket
  • Chorus Fruit teleportation through Stargate portals is more reliable

### Added

  • Support for Minecraft 26.1

### Fixed

  • Mob spawn in the Dark dimension

### Added

  • Hazard countermeasures** — vanilla gear now protects against dimensional hazards:
  • Dark: Night Vision potion fully bypasses Darkness
  • Frozen: Frost Walker enchantment or leather boots fully bypass; other boots reduce to Slowness only
  • Ocean: Water Breathing potion fully bypasses Mining Fatigue; Aqua Affinity reduces severity; Depth Strider halves duration
  • Desert: each piece of gold armor reduces heat exhaustion by 25%; full gold set skips it entirely
  • Chorus Fruit dimensional immunity** — eating Chorus Fruit inside a stargate dimension grants a 10-second emergency effect matching the current dimension unless the fruit is used to target a stargate portal
  • Targeted Chorus Fruit stargate travel** — Chorus Fruit now uses a stargate only when you are directly aiming at the portal blocks from up to 32 blocks away; fruit-triggered stargate travel applies the temporary protection effect only after arrival in the destination dimension
  • Compass binding to stargates** — right-click a Stargate Control Panel with a compass to create a lodestone compass permanently pointing at that gate
  • Portal lock (redstone)** — apply a redstone signal to a Stargate Control Panel to lock it; locked gates cannot open portals and block incoming connections from other gates
  • Dimension-themed chest loot** — stargate structure chests now contain dimension-specific items: common supplies and rare counter-items (e.g. Fire Resistance potions in Melted, leather boots in Frozen) that hint at how to survive each dimension
