Tiny Flowers

Add tiny variants of all Vanilla flowers, much like Pink Petals.

A flowerbed outside a window.

This mod requires Fabric API, so make sure it's installed.

Getting started

Florists' Shears

To get started with this mod, you'll need to craft some Florists' Shears. These can be made by combining Shears with any dye.

Crafting Shears and a dye gives Florists' Shears of that colour.

All colours of Florists' Shears.

Tiny Flowers

You can make tiny variants of all Vanilla flowers by crafting the flower with Florists' Shears. This will give you 4 of the relevant flower type.

Crafting 4 Tiny Dandelions using Florists' Shears and a Dandelion.

Tiny Flowers can be placed on dirt, grass, and moss to make a Tiny Garden. Tiny Flowers can be placed multiple times and you can mix and match whatever flower types you like (including Pink Petals)!

Placing multiple Tiny Flowers in the same block.

Combining multiple types of Tiny Flower in the same block.

More interactions

Tiny Flowers are still flowers! Bees will pollinate using tiny flowers, and can be bred by using tiny flowers on them.

Breeding bees using a Tiny Dandelion.

Florists' Shears can be used on a Tiny Garden to pick a flower up. By using the shears on a corner of the garden you can select which flower will be picked. You can then place another flower in that spot.

Picking a flower from a Tiny Garden using Florists' Shears.

Using Ctrl (or Cmd) + Pick Block (i.e. Middle Click) on a Tiny Garden in Creative Mode will give you a copy of that garden to place down. It will be placed down facing the same direction as you, so you can easily rotate it.

### Added

  • Tiny Flowers can now be placed inside Flower Pots.
  • New #tiny_flowers:supports_vegetation block tag.
  • For now this follows Vanilla's #minecraft:supports_vegetation, but is here to better support versions prior to 26.1 when the tag was added.
  • Adding new blocks to this tag means that most Tiny Flowers can be placed on them, but not other vegetation (like grasses and regular flowers).
  • This is now the default tag that's used when a flower variant does not specify and tags.

### Changed

  • Tiny Poppies' height has been knocked down a pixel or two.

### Fixed

  • Using Florists Shears on vanilla tiny flowers in the world no longer rotates the block to your facing direction.

### Fixed

  • Using Florists Shears on vanilla tiny flowers in the world no longer rotates the block to your facing direction.

### Known Issues

  • This is the first 2.x.x release for 1.21.1 and 1.21.11. It is **not** compatible with existing worlds.
  • Upgrading an existing world will cause all Tiny Flowers items and blocks to disappear from your world.
  • Only one type of tint can exist per flower model part. If a model part declares multiple tintindex values in its definition, the first one will be used.

  • Any flower types using this will instead be tinted using the normal grass color.
  • (1.21.1) Flower type transformations do not emit particles.
  • These particles use the same type as Eyeblossoms, which do not exist in this version.
  • (1.21.1) Force picking (ctrl + middle click) a Tiny Garden in the world where the first flower is Pink Petals results in a Pink Petals item with extra data.
  • Placing this item only places one Pink Petal, not the full garden.

This release is for Minecraft 1.21.1 only.

### Fixed

  • Tiny Flower items were all named "Tiny Garden"
The big headline feature of this release is that this mod can now support having flower types added by other mods! This is something that would have been near-impossible with v1 of the mod, and I'm very glad that it's now possible. There was a big internal rewrite of the mod's code, but it is now easier to add new flowers in a way that doesn't make the game slower and more memory-hungry every time a new one is added.

Oh, and the mod is now available on NeoForge as well as Fabric. That's a big change too.

### Known Issues

  • Worlds that used v1 of Tiny Flowers will not be upgraded to v2.
  • Any previously created flower items and blocks will be removed from the world.

### Added

  • Support for NeoForge.
  • After creating Florists' Shears with regular shears and a single dye, you can now use more dyes to re-color your Florists' Shears to almost any color possible.
  • You can now use multiple Tiny Flowers when crafting Suspicious Stew.
  • Adding more of the same type of flower will increase the duration.
  • Adding different types of flower will combine the effects into a single stew.
  • Tiny Cactus Flowers and Leaf Litter can be placed and mixed on top of any block that Leaf Litter can be placed on.
  • For mod developers:
  • This mod is now entirely data-driven. This means you can use JSON files to add new Tiny Flower types.
  • Read [the README in GitHub](https://github.com/SecretOnline/tiny-flowers/blob/main/README.md) for more information about what files are required.
  • The misc/tiny_dirt_flower directory of this mod's source code contains an example mod containing only JSON and textures.
  • I've also made [a mod generator](https://tiny-flowers-generator.secretonline.co/) to create packs of Tiny Flowers entirely within the browser.

### Fixed

  • Game startup times should be massively improved.
  • Combining two Florists' Shears together to combine the durability no longer leaves the old shears in the crafting menu.
