💀Pirate skeletons and captains
Skeleton pirates are a new kind of enemies that you can meet in your world. They are different from ordinary undead, they don't burn in the sun. They also look different from other skeletons and are dressed in shabby clothes.
Skeleton captains are the heads of their crews. They have more health than pirate skeletons and fancy clothes. If you manage to defeat them, you will receive a trophy skull as a reward and one of the side quest items: treasure key, skeleton's order or skeleton crew assignment.
☠️Types of skeletons
There are currently four types of skeletons, each with different attributes and combat approaches: Skeleton Pirates (regular), Blooming Skeletons, Shadow Skeletons, and Golden Skeletons. Use your wits to defeat the last two types
💎Treasures
Treasures include trophy skulls and treasure chests.
Trophy skulls can be obtained by defeating the Skeleton Captain or found in structures. They vary in rarity and value. Sell them to skull merchants or use them as decorations in your buildings.
Treasure chests can be found in structures or by using the skeleton's order. They are opened with a treasure key. After being emptied, they can also be used as decorations.
🏰Structures
Skull merchant house - it's home to a skull merchant. He can sell you skeleton's crew assignments and blunderbombs, and you can sell him trophy skulls.
Sea fortress - large structure in the ocean. Once you reach it, you will encounter waves of enemies, and once you defeat them, you will be able to unlock the core of the sea fortress to receive rewards. After a while, the fortress will recharge and you can start a new raid.
👑Pirate and captain's clothes
Pirates and captains may drop clothes. Dress up as a captain! (not all clothes are displayed correctly on the player, but most are correct).
💣Weapons
Blunderbombs are new throwable projectiles which are deal a lot of damage.

Located in config folder.
Here you can change health and damage of every skeleton in mod.
randomAdventureItemDistanceInChunks - affects the maximum distance at which a treasure or skeleton camp can spawn from the corresponding item (default 8).
captain_names_lang - for servers only. Use the ready-made captain names for "en_us" or "ru_ru". OR, write "custom" and create your own captain names in config/treasures_of_the_dead/custom_captain_names.json directory;

All Versions
+ Add VersionI decided to give this update a name, since it turned out to be quite ambitious. Why not? This update introduces new ways to fight enemies, a full-fledged trading system with merchant companies, new textures, and updates to existing features. So... let's go through them one by one...
## **Cutlasses**
Cutlasses are a new weapon that pirate skeletons now spawn with. After all, they are pirates. Cutlasses allow the player to fully block an incoming attack, after which the ability goes on cooldown. This lets the player withstand heavy blows from weapons like axes or maces. However, they cannot block arrows or other projectiles. By the way, there’s an even cooler version of the cutlass!
## **Captain's Cutlasses**
Captain's Cutlasses are upgraded versions wielded by captain skeletons. Their main difference from standard cutlasses is that, in addition to blocking attacks, they allow for sideways dashes to improve maneuverability. Unlike standard cutlasses, they cannot be crafted. However, you can obtain them by fighting skeleton captains, buying them from the Skull Merchant, or upgrading a standard cutlass at a smithing table using a "Captain's Upgrade." If you think this is the last new weapon, well...
## **Daggers**
Daggers are a new type of throwable weapon available to the player for combat, primarily at medium range. They differ in many ways - such as damage, stack size, charge speed, and more. They deal significant damage upon hitting a mob and then bounce off, embedding themselves in the ground where they can be picked up. Each dagger has a chance to break on impact, so they are considered consumable items. So... what about trading?
## **Doubloons**
Before we move on to the new trading interface, let me tell you about the new currency. Doubloons! These are obtained by selling items to trading companies and can also occasionally be found in sea fortress chests. They stack in piles of 9. For convenient storage, there is also a doubloon pouch; it functions like a standard pouch but holds only doubloons - and it has infinite capacity. So, how does trading work?
## **New menus for trading companies + reputation system**
When you want to sell your skulls and buy cool gear, you’ll encounter a new sales menu. You’ll see a single slot for selling your valuables. The "Order of Souls" accepts trophy skulls and treasure chests (it is best to sell chests that have already been opened). Selling treasure, rewards you with doubloons and company reputation experience. From this menu, you can switch to the offers menu, where you can purchase items offered by the trading company. Quests, emeralds, new cutlasses, daggers, and other items become available for purchase based on your reputation level. Sell more treasure and level up the trading company to unlock new offers.
### A quick note:
Currently, Treasures of the Dead features one trading company. Future updates may be released very infrequently; more on this at the end of the changelog.
### **Other changes:**
- Rebalancing of skull values and other items: in short, the Villainous Trophy Skull is now rarer, while the values of the Foul Skull and Disgraced Skull have increased. Overall, the value of all skulls has gone up. Reward values at the fort and the standard contents of treasure chests have also been adjusted.
- Treasure chests now have a 25% chance to contain 3 random trophy skulls.
- All treasure entities now require 5+ hits to drop as an item.
- Skeletons carrying powder kegs now drop the barrel upon death. It retains the state of its fuse exactly as it was when held by the skeleton.
- Powder kegs can no longer be extinguished once lit (though they can still be ignited - break them if you don't want to explode).
- (Bugfix) The keg no longer drops down when lighting the fuse in first-person view (though the fuse itself is not animated).
- Sea Fortresses update: Skeletons that fall into the water are teleported back to the fort after a short delay.
- Added new variations for the rooftop storage room.
- Most loot tables have been modified (slightly).
- Skeleton pirates now spawn in the world equipped with cutlasses.
- Spawn rates for different skeleton types in camps of varying difficulty have been slightly adjusted.
- Skeleton pirates now look around and "talk" to other pirate skeletons.
- Adjusted the maximum horizontal head rotation for skeleton pirates (75° -> 45°).
- Skeleton captains have a small chance to drop a pouch of doubloons (applies only to random captains).
- Adjusted skeleton arm positioning in the model (12 -> 11.5) to ensure cutlasses display correctly.
- Added a cooldown for the Blunderbomb, configurable via the mod's
.tomlfile. - Redrawn textures for Golden Skeletons.
- Redrawn textures for Blooming Skeletons.
- Redrawn textures for Shadow Skeletons.
- Also updated the rendering of Shadow Skeletons while in their shadow state.
- Updated the texture for the Foul Skull.
Huge thanks to the wonderful NotYourLynLyn for redrawing both the old and new textures. Without her, this update might never have been released.
### **Settings**
A huge number of settings have been added to the mod's .toml file. Customize cutlasses, daggers, and bombs however you like. You can also configure the items bought and sold by trading companies (look for the
sell_prices.json and shop_offers.json files in data/treasures_of_the_dead/trading_companies/order_of_souls/…).# **This is the end.**
This turned out to be a pretty good update, despite the development challenges. I hope it goes viral, or that someone makes a TikTok about the mod... That would be awesome - really cool… and awesome… please.
- Why this might be the last update for the next year.**
The thing is, I’ll likely have to leave for a year of mandatory military service soon. Consequently, I won't be able to work on the mod or interact with the community. Nothing is 100% certain yet regarding my deployment, but the probability is extremely high, so it’s important to mention it here and now. In any case, if I do leave, I’ll release a patch with an announcement. That’s the situation. Download the mod, spread the word, play with friends, make videos, and have a great time! That's all for now, thanks!
- The logic of treasure or skeleton camp spawns from adventure items has been changed: The new system involves loading a chunk before spawning a treasure or a skeletons crew camp, so the latter will not spawn in the bedrock. This also allows you to create maps that are thousands of blocks away from you;
- Changed the base value of the `
randomAdventureItemDistanceInChunksparameter intreasures_of_the_dead.toml`. (8 -> 16); - Fixed a critical bug where the skeleton crew camp could not find a position to spawn skeletons and caused an overflow and crash;
- The recipes for small braziers have also been changed. To make a soul brazier or a patinated brazier, you need to add the corresponding material (coal, soul sand, or copper ingot) to 3 braziers of the same material in the crafting menu.

- A buried treasure can now summon pirate skeletons when discovered;
- Skeleton pirates now get out of boats after a short time. They're getting smarter!;
- Added blunderbomb damage settings to .toml file.
- Skeletons from camps now spawn in the center of the block, rather than in the corner, which allowed them to spawn in blocks and take damage;
- Skeletons from camps can no longer spawn below or above 5 blocks from the camp itself, which prevents them from spawning in gorges.
In the near future, I also plan to make a small update with bug fixes, settings, and languages for 1.20.1.
now you can place treasures items such as trophy skulls or treasure chests on a assembled constructions! Treasure-entities will be attached to this construction like frames and paintings!
- Now you can config HEALTH and DAMAGE of every skeleton in treasures_of_the_dead.toml config file;

It's been a while since the last update. But it's finally here! Version 0.8.0 brings new features, mechanics, and systems! Let's take it one step at a time.
# **What's new?**
## **Added Sea Fortress**
A new structure that can be found in the ocean. This fortress will be hard to miss. But be careful! It will activate when you approach it. The skeletons that appear will give you a hard time in this new challenge. Defeat the captain and discover the secrets of this fortress!
## **Added Sea Fortress Core**
This block is the heart of the fortress, responsible for summoning minions. It is also a vault of treasures. You can open it with the sea fortress key. Open the vault and get your hands on the wealth!
## **Added Sea Fortress Key**
##
The key to the sea fortress has been added!
Defeat the captain of the fortress to obtain this key. As you might have guessed, it opens
the fortress's vault. By the way, the value of the rewards depends on the enemies you defeat. So defeat them all!
# **Other changes:**
As I said, I've implemented several new systems. Thanks to them, you can now
dress up skeletons however you like with the help of datapacks (useful for modpacks).
- In the data/treasures_of_the_dead/entities_equipment/ directory, you can set up outfit variations for all skeletons from the mod;
- The value of the Sea Fortress rewards can be changed in the directory data/treasures_of_the_dead/sea_fortress_loot/sea_fortress_loot.json;
- The skeletons got smarter and learned how to use crossbows;
- ll treasure entities can now be placed on half-blocks! (it looks beautiful).
# **About next updates!**
Yes, it happens that updates are now rare. There is a chance to lose contact, so I want
you to subscribe to my youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@MrWilfis/featured .
Perhaps I will post videos about development and trailers there, but most likely only records
like devblog. But I definitely do not finish over the mod so quickly. There will be more updates ahead and not one. So, wait, watch, and write to me on Discord if you want to discuss anything.
# **This is a new update for 1.20.1!!!**
## **Added all new features from mod neoforge version of 0.6.0 and 0.7.0 to forge**
## **Added Skeleton Crew Camps!**
Now, instead of the usual gathering of pirates and captains in their spawn locations, when using the Skeleton Crew Assignment, skeletons will spawn in camps. The camps will have multiple waves, and the last wave will feature skeleton captains. The camps vary in difficulty, and the number of waves, pirates, and captains depends on the difficulty. You can use datapacks to modify the difficulty of each wave.
- By the way, skeletons now appear in the world with special animations!**
Braziers are a new decorative block added for the new upcoming large structure. So stay tuned!!! Braziers can be crafted from 2 gold (or iron) ingots, 4 gold (or iron) nuggets, and 1 coal (or soul sand).
# **Other changes:**
- All entity-treasures are now placed facing you (instead of facing north, and then turning around);
- The Skull Merchant now sells a quest for a 2-3 difficulty skeleton crew at level 3 and a 4-5 difficulty crew at level 5. The trade at level 4 has been changed: you will receive 3 blunder bombs for 1 emerald;

- Blunder bombs can now be dropped from the treasure chest;
- Added sound for blunder bombs when thrown;
- In the Treasures of the Dead tab, the summoning eggs have been moved to the very end;
## **Golden skeletons**
These are a new type of pirate skeleton that moves more slowly and is harder to defeat. These guys are immune to most types of damage. Their weakness is that they rust when they get wet. Use this to your advantage to defeat them.
## **Blunder bombs**
A new throwing item. Creates a medium explosion that deals damage to all mobs in the area. Can be created using bottles, iron nuggets, and gunpowder
# **Other changes**

- Skeleton crew assignment can now take you to the Golden Skeletons.
## **Skull merchant house**

### **Pirate skeletons using powder kegs**
Yeah, pirate skeletons can now appear with powder kegs in their hands. They are slower because of the keg, but they do not stop moving when the fuse is lit.
## **Other changes**
- added new names and titles to captain names;
- fixed spam in the console on a dedicated server due to the appearance of skeleton captains.
Fixed bug with crashes because of captain names on dedicated servers. Now on dedicated servers captain names are always in English (for now). In single player mode nothing has changed.
## Whats new?
