Welcome to: Text stylized like the Minecraft title reading "Vanilla Cookbook"

Minecraft has a lot of potential with the ingredients already in the game. However, it doesn't seem like they're interested in using that potential, since they barely add any new food items. I decided to take things into my own hands and make a mod that shows what Minecraft could or should do with their food. Over 80 new dishes, 8 new cakes, a placeable pancake stack, and a placeable brownie tray.

Milk Bottles, Cheese, Stuffed Seapickles, and Cheesecake all clear potion effects like milk does.

There's also some new loot, villager trades, and a bunch of items can be thrown into the composter if you want.

More info on all of this can be found on the mod's Curseforge page.

Adds cake slices and cooking pot recipes if Farmer's Delight is also used. Thanks to vectorwing for letting me use his Cake Slice texture as a base for my own cake slice textures. Also includes other miscellaneous mod compatibility.

A list of all the mod's recipes can be found Here!

  • You can now configure the mod through the mod list menu.
  • Minor fixes to outdated jsons and some code.
  • The book cake now has a small chance to display a message when eating a slice (messages may change in coming updates).
  • A ton of texture changes
  • Minor bug fixes like Cheesecake not removing effects
  • Other minor adjustments/improvements to things like loot tables, advancements, etc.
  • A new config option (disabled by default), that allows you to harvest Dragon Breath by right-clicking empty bottles on dragon heads
  • Changed Meatloaf recipe
  • Updated/added item tags
  • New food items: Chorus Roll, Ender Pie, and Raw/Cooked Beet Meat

Chorus Rolls and Ender Pies teleport the player like Chorus Fruit, but are biased in the direction the player is facing (4 cardinal directions, up, and down).

Beet Meat is a craftable vegan meat alternative, which should be able to be used for anything that requires non-specific meat.

Some more fixes, hopefully actually final this time
Hopefully fixes a crash with Farmer's Delight

  • Added Cotton Candy, made from sugar, air charges, and some red dye. Eating it sends you flying into the air.
  • Breaking Oak/Dark Oak Leaves with a Golden Hoe now has a small chance to drop Golden Apples (Twice as rare as regular apples) and Enchanted Golden Apples (Ten times as rare as regular apples). Affected by Fortune
  • Minor fixes, updates to textures, etc.
Minor final fixes and updates
  • Added two new items: Sweet Skewers and Sculky Cheese
  • Fixed Beet Chip tooltip
  • Changed Netherite Apple Effects
  • Updated some textures
  • Fixed Netherite Apple recipe
  • Added Tooltips to a bunch of items, describing their effects
Bit of a more experimental update today. No big changes for most players, probably, but I added a few items that only show up when playing with certain mods, 2 for create, and 2 for botania. I'm not planning on making a whole lot of items like this, but I figured it would be a fun little surprise for anyone that happens to use Vanilla Cookbook with either of these mods.

For Create:

Rose Rock Candy: 6 Hunger, 3.6 Saturation, Cures Poison. You get two by mixing Water, Honey, and Redstone in a heated mixer.

Polished Rose Rock Candy: 5 Hunger, 3.2 Saturation, Cures Poison, Grants Haste 1 for 30 seconds. Made by polishing Rose Rock Candy.

For Botania:

Mana Roll: 5 Hunger, 5.4 Saturation, Cures All Effects. You get 2 by crafting together Wheat, Eggs, Milk, Cheese, and Mana Dust.

Tater Puffs: 2 Hunger, 1.2 Saturation, 50% of healing 1 heart when eaten. Made by throwing Potato Chips into a mana pool.

Update: I forgot about Smithing changes so the netherite apple is uncraftable for now. I put the new recipe in the additional files so you can datapack it for now
Update to 1.20.1! Comes with retextures for old items, and 3 new ones:

  • Cooked Sniffer Egg, self-explanatory I think

  • Pitcher Praline, a small treat made from the contents of a pitcher pod, which can cure mining fatigue

  • Cherry Blossom Tea, also self-explanatory I think

This should presumably work with NeoForge, but I did not test, so apologies if it doesn't
This one has a creative tab
Warning: This version does not have a creative tab because I couldn't figure out the new changes, and didn't want to invest too much time when 1.19.4 and 1.20 further change how they work anyway.
Update to 1.19.2
Too many changes to list, just take a look at the Curseforge page to see what the mod looks like currently.
