A Minecraft Data Pack for 26.3, 26.x and 1.21.x
This data pack includes over 300 items that can be crafted or found! In my opinion, the best part about this is that it can be used on Minecraft Realms, unlike some more complex data packs. Additionally, everything in this pack is translated when using Mexican Spanish in-game! Let me know if there are any mistakes, as I translated everything manually.
Here's a list of all features below:
Vanilla+ Wiki
Vanilla+ Wiki:
- I have a Google Doc that acts as a Wiki for Vanilla+ and Vanilla++! It is a more detailed list of every feature, crafting recipe, advancement, etc. that this project adds to the game. Check out the Vanilla+ Wiki now!
- Additionally, I have a Google Form that you can fill out. It allows anyone to submit suggestions and bug reports for Vanilla+ or Vanilla++. The second section of the Form is also a bit of a questionnaire, just for my own curiosity. Check it out here!

Custom Gear
Custom Armor: 7 sets of Armor that can be crafted using Lapis Lazuli, Resin, Quartz, Emerald, Amethyst, and Nether Stars; there is also a set of Ruby Gear as of Version 26.0. Lapis is on the level of Iron, Quartz is on the level of Chainmail, Resin is on the level of Gold, Emerald and Ruby are on the level of Diamond, and Amethyst is on the level of Netherite (it is made by combining Amethyst Shards with Netherite Gear in a Smithing Table)! Nether Star Armor is built in a Smithing Table using either Netherite or Amethyst gear. You only need a Nether Star to transform the item.
Custom Tools: 7 new toolsets that each correspond to 7 of the new Armor sets! Quartz's tools are on the level of iron, since Chainmail does not have a toolset, while Amethyst and Nether Star tools are crafted the same way as their Armor Sets. Additionally, there are 5 custom Spears to match with other custom materials: Amethyst, Quartz, Resin, Emerald, and Ruby.
Amulets: Two new items inspired by Minecraft: Dungeons have been added that only work when held in the Offhand: the Emerald Amulet and the Soul Healer! The Emerald Amulet is found rarely in the rare loot of Trail Ruins, and the Soul Healer can be found in suspicious sand near Desert Temples! When holding the Emerald Amulet in your offhand, you get passive Resistance, and the Soul Healer gives passive Regeneration. Both are low-level, and particles are generated, so it's your choice on if the player prefers a Shield or constant passive effects when in fights.
Extra Armor: In addition to the 7 sets of new armor materials, I've also added a full set of Turtle Armor, which gives various underwater buffs, and Evocation Armor from Minecraft: Dungeons. Each piece of Evocation Armor comes with different effects which aid in general movement, and adds up to the same amount of armor as Copper Armor.

Dyeable Items & Food
Custom Food: Both simple and complex dishes that can be crafted for a wider variety of food! Many of them include special effects, and some even spawn naturally in either structure chests or from certain kinds of leaves. Picking up key ingredients from these dishes will unlock their crafting recipes! Additionally, renaming the food in an Anvil and adding either "Dish" or "Plato" (works only for the Spanish names) afterwards will make it 3D! A plate will be added that will cover up item frames, allowing you to display food better!
Dye Colors: New for Java Edition 26.3 and Vanilla+ 26.0, each of the new Dye combinations has its own item! This means that you can now physically craft items like Coral Dye, Indigo Dye, Sepia Dye, and more! Additionally, each mineral in the game + Ruby can be used to dye the following items...
Dyeable Books: 36 different color options for Book and Quills! These dye colors include the 16 normal dye colors, as well as 20 extra options that are either minerals or combinations of dye. These are ideal for multiplayer and having different colored diaries for each player. You can also try collecting them all!
Dyeable Elytra: Following the same style as the Dyeable Books, Dyeable Elytra have 37 color options in addition to a "wings" option, crafted using a Feather! As of the
More Dyeable Bundles: Although Vanilla Minecraft already has bundles in the 16 default colors, the 21 extra colors seen in other dyeable items now apply to the bundle as well!

Miscellaneous Additions
Hats: There are tons of different hat variants! Many are dyeable Beanies (the same color options as all other dyeable items), others are based on different Villager accessories, and others are hats based on Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, meant for fun in multiplayer! The recipes for almost all of these are unlocked when you pick up leather. The Villager hat recipes are unlocked when you first pick up their corresponding job block.
Goat Horns: in the first beta versions of the Caves & Cliffs update, Mojang added 10 Copper Horns to the game, meant to be used in making music with friends, but they were removed soon after being introduced. However, I went back and found all the music files used and decided to add them back into the game as custom Goat Horns made with different materials! Try them out in multiplayer with friends!
Locked Blocks: Locked Chests and Locked Barrels can now be crafted using a Chest/Barrel and Iron Bars! They can only be opened by using Keys, which generate in Stronghold libraries. Small Keys can be used to open the normal Locked Blocks, while there are 2 other Locked Block variants that can only be opened by using Big Keys.
Mushrooms: Mushroom items that are based on the Super Mario Bros. series! These are mutated versions of fungi that are in the game by default. The Mutated Crimson Fungus makes you 5 blocks tall, the Mutated Red Mushroom makes you 3 blocks tall, the Mutated Brown Mushroom makes you 1 block tall, and the Mutated Warped Fungus makes you about 6 pixels tall. These must be equipped and give the appearance of having Mushroom caps on your head!
Advancements: In addition to a small advancement tree featuring items from Vanilla+ exclusively, there are also a few new advancements that are from the Achievement system of the old versions of Minecraft! While some have been adjusted, most are exactly the same as how they were when they were removed.
FAQ:
- "How do I download the Resource Pack?" Instead of just clicking the download button on the main page, go to "Versions" and click on a specific version number. At the top of the page, there will be a button that says "Required Resource Pack" with a download symbol next to it. Click that, and it will download a .zip file. You do NOT need to unzip it! Just place it in your resource pack folder and you're good to go!
- "Why isn't there a Creative Inventory tab for the mod?" Because this isn't a mod. Vanilla+ is a data pack, NOT a mod, Modrinth just allows data pack creators to convert their data packs into a .jar file that is compatible with all mod loaders. Therefore, I can't add a Creative Inventory tab since that requires custom code, which data packs don't use. However, I have /function and /trigger commands that help access groups of items, and all items can be individually accessed with /loot, so if you ever need a specific item you can do that as well!
- "How do I submit ideas for Vanilla+?" At the top of the page, I have a section called "Vanilla+ Wiki" that also includes a suggestion form! I also have the link to a YouTube video I made below going over a lot of features in Vanilla+ and my expansion Vanilla++, so you can comment there!
- "Can you make Vanilla+ compatible with (insert mod here)?" Maybe, maybe not. As I already said, Vanilla+ IS NOT A MOD. It is a data pack that Modrinth allows me to turn into a .jar file. There may be scenarios where something I do makes it incompatible with other mods, and in that case, I most likely cannot fix it. However, I will always check to verify whether I can or can't.
Check out Vanilla++ as well!
It's an expansion to Vanilla+ that makes it non-functional for Realms, but in doing so adds custom structures, custom animal variants, custom music discs, custom enchantments, and more! Check it out here!

- Custom Dye Colors:** y'know all those custom dye combinations that have been in Vanilla+ forever? Like Cyan Dye + Lime Dye or Red Dye + Magenta Dye? Well, those can now be used to create ACTUAL DYE ITEMS! There are now 9 different Custom Dye Items, crafted the same way that the original color combinations were crafted before. This means you can actually see their "official" color names without checking the /trigger command as well.
- Rubies:** a brand new material for the game based on the original version of the Emerald! It can only be found in generated structures (see below), and can be used to craft an entire new set of Gear. Ruby Gear is on the same level of Diamond Gear stats-wise, except for the fact that it has slightly higher durability than Diamond.
- Dyeable Items:** because of the changes to Custom Dyes, that means that there are new additions to all the Custom Dyeable Items! Firstly, the Bundle, Beanie, Elytra, and Writable Book all have a new Ruby variant. Then, for the Bundle and Writable Book, their "Classic" variants have been renamed to "Sepia" to match the new Dye Color. The Elytra and Beanie now also have a Sepia color as well. Finally, there's two more important changes. First, all of these items can be dyed **_without losing any extra data they may have!_** To be more specific, you can dye bundles with items in them, Elytras with enchantments, and Writable Books without fear of losing their contents! This also means that Written Books can be dyed as well!
- Loot Tables:** Rubies and / or Ruby Nuggets can now be found in various places: Shipwreck Treasure chests, Buried Treasure, Underwater Ruins, and Ancient Cities.
- Misc. Changes:** Yes, I'm aware that in the Crafting Table recipe book you'll be seeing Spawn Eggs. Yes, I hate it too. But it's the only way to add stuff like Ruby Gear and new Dye Colors, so it is what it is. Additionally, yes, I have removed all Redstone Gear. I've decided that it doesn't really fit within the game in general, especially because it's literally made of dust, and I didn't want to make it craftable from Redstone Blocks, because that would be an immense amount of Redstone necessary to make gear that doesn't really have a place in Minecraft to begin with. All /function and /trigger commands have also been updated to include Ruby Gear and Dye Colors.

- Custom Food:** after a long time and several comments on YouTube recommending I rebalance them, custom food has finally been nerfed. Most time limits on effects are now 3 minutes or less, with a couple special foods going over that limit.
- Vanilla+ Wiki:** SURPRISE! I've made a Wiki for Vanilla+ and Vanilla++! It is up-to-date with this very version of the Data Pack, and I'll try to keep up with it as more updates are made. [Click here to check it out!](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1POvgisEGtubYpWeJdDzsRh3zmOfVai8lK2e4OiZE9DE/preview?tab=t.0)

I've had some people inform me that a few of the food recipes disappeared, including one that's required for one of the custom Advancements, and those recipes have now been fixed!
This version is still compatible with Vanilla++ 24.0!

- Crab Claw:** a new item based on the 2023 Mob Vote! This item can be dug up in Suspicious Sand or Gravel in Ocean Ruins, and it allows you to place blocks from further away, just as it would have done if the Crab mob had been added to the game.
- Display Case:** this item can be placed in item frames, and is intended to be used as a way to more easily display items using item frames or armor stands! For example, if you have a trophy wall, then you could put an item on the wall and a display case on the block directly in front of it so that it looks like the item is encased in glass!
- Misc:** all of the files in the Resource Pack have FINALLY been moved to their own directory. I have kept the old directory intact because otherwise it would cause you guys to have to start all-new worlds with this new version, but just know that in the future, no textures should break.

- Evocation Robes:** a brand-new, unique Armor set inspired by Minecraft: Dungeons! These armor pieces are found exclusively in Woodland Mansion and Pillager Outpost chests. The full set provide 9 total armor points, so it's a bit weaker than Copper Armor, and it can't be enchanted. However, they will never break, and each armor piece gives a different unique attribute! The Hat increases your step height, the Robe increases your luck, the Pants reduce your personal gravity, and the Boots improve your movement efficiency!
- Foods:** I've also added a couple new foods, the Kelp Roll and the Chocolate Pie! Naturally their recipes unlock when picking up Cocoa Beans or Dried Kelp.
- 3D Foods:** 16 more food items have gotten 3D models when renamed in an anvil! Check the previous changelog for how to get the 3D versions! The new foods are as follows: Mutton, Cooked Mutton, Smoked Mutton, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Pie, Chocolate Milk, Milk Bucket, Melon Slice, Banana, Sweet Berries, Cookie, Sugar Cookie, Elven Cookie, Elven Kiss, Elven Surprise, and Poisonous Potato.

- Hats:** Three more cosmetic hats have been added, each of these reflecting a different Villager profession! They're the Farmer's Hat, Cartographer's Monocle, and the Armorer's Mask. You can either craft these or potentially fish them up as junk! If you live around Villagers, it might be nice to change up your look around them too, so try out the hats!
- Amulets:** inspired by _Minecraft: Dungeons_, I'm adding two new items that only work when held in the Offhand, the Emerald Amulet and the Soul Healer!
- Misc. Changes:** I have finalized the removal of the Flute items from the pack, as I don't think they really fit in the current vision for the pack now.

Not a lot of new features here on Vanilla+, but over on Vanilla++ there's a new Music Disc, a new Structure, and 16 new items used for Trim Materials! Also, there's a more updated Vanilla+ video on the main page that goes over most features in both Vanilla+ and Vanilla++! Check it out!
- Spears:** With the new Vanilla implementation of Spears, my versions of them have been removed. Instead, the Amethyst, Emerald, Quartz, and Resin Spears have been updated to match the new Vanilla spears.
- Misc. Changes:** the glitch where upgrading an Emerald gear piece to Netherite makes it retain its lower durability should be fixed now. Additionally, some items that had weird appearances in Shelves have been fixed.

- Gear:** with the Vanilla game officially adding Copper Armor and Tools, my versions of those items have been permanently removed from the pack. Copper Spears remain, although those too will be removed later this year alongside all my other spears, as the base game will be adding THOSE too! It's funny how Mojang is just adding things from my Vanilla+ pack to the actual game this year haha
- Food:** I've added a new food item: Milk Bottles! You can craft three of these at a time using a milk bucket and three glass bottles. However, their max stack size is only 3. It's designed this way to make the benefits of milk a little easier to use, but not terribly overpowered! Because of this, the Chocolate Milk item I added last year has been rebalanced to only stack to 1 due to its slightly better food stats.
- Advancements:** I've added an entirely new Vanilla+ category of advancements to the game! You'll unlock this branch upon getting your first Baked Apple, and several advancements that were already in the pack have been moved over here, along with getting all new advancements to go with them!
- Misc. Changes:** because I'm a perfectionist and I play using Subtitles turned on, I was getting annoyed at seeing "Footsteps" every time I equipped my Amethyst Armor, so all of my custom items that would show subtitles now have the correct descriptions! This of course works in both English and Mexican Spanish. Also, due to a bug that I can't figure out, the Stormy Flute item has been temporarily removed from the pack. It and the Sunny Flute may leave forever soon, but I haven't decided.

Not much here on the main front, but over at Vanilla++ I've fixed some structures and added a couple new items! However, the new stuff here is...
- Food:** DONUTS! I've added 7 variants of donuts to the game, and you unlock their recipes after picking up bread for the first time! These are the normal Donut, Apple Donut, Chocolate Iced Donut, Chocolate Cake Donut, and Cream Filled, Sweet Berry Filled, and Glow Berry Filled Donuts.

This update is small in terms of new features, but I've also manually translated every item in the data pack into Mexican Spanish! Read more below.
- Iron Hammer:** this is crafted with 5 iron blocks and 2 sticks. It's meant to be reminiscent of an early game Mace, but its real advantage is that it can be used as both a tool and a weapon. It has the capabilities of an Iron Pickaxe with double the durability, but its only supported enchantments are for the Pickaxe aspect of it. However, it has an attack speed between Swords and Axes, and deals some base knockback!
- 3D Food:** I'm in the process of making 3D models for every food item in the game! These are accessed by renaming the food in an anvil and adding "Dish" (or in Spanish, "Plato") after the name! You can place them in item frames so that the frame is completely covered. This is inspired by resource packs that feature 3D food! See the image below on how to do it.
- Texture Changes:** With the announcement of Copper Armor and Tools coming to the base game, I've changed the item textures to match the Vanilla textures. I've also changed the model textures for Copper and Emerald Armor. _Side note, the Copper Gear in this pack WILL BE REMOVED once it is added to the Vanilla game._
- Spanish Translations:** In real life, I'm studying Spanish, so I decided to manually translate every item and advancement in my data pack to Mexican Spanish! Now, when you turn on "Español (MS)" in Minecraft, any item crafted after this update will now be translated into Spanish!

The changelog on this end will be short and sweet, but [head on over to Vanilla++](https://modrinth.com/datapack/vanilla-plus-plus-data-pack) to learn about all the stuff that this new version helps to add over there!
- Changes for Some Nintendo Items:** Previously, I had the Mushrooms from Mario and the Ocarinas from Zelda. After lots of feedback on the YouTube video I made, I've decided to revamp these, but not remove them entirely. The mushrooms are now more Vanilla Minecraft-inspired, being called "Mutated" forms of 4 fungi from the game. They still function the exact same. As for the Ocarinas, those are now called Flutes and have been retextured accordingly. The Music Disc "stal" uses flutes in its instrumentation, so I thought it would be fine to keep them. I AM debating removing them, but let me know what you think about that and if a lot of you actually use these items during normal play or not. I have elected not to remove the Nintendo hats, as those are almost entirely meant to be used in multiplayer, and since they don't add unique functions/abilities I see no need to get rid of them.
- Heart Container Removed:** after taking some things into consideration, I've decided to permanently remove the Heart Container item from the pack. I'm sorry to anyone who liked it, but I wasn't satisfied with its implementation, and I couldn't figure out how to have a good cap on its abilities. However, if you want a way to kinda-sorta permanently upgrade your max health and you don't use this pack on Realms, head on over to Vanilla++, where I've added a new enchantment for Chestplates and Elytras that upgrades your max health!

This is a pretty small update, but nevertheless there's a couple new food items and some new advancement changes!
- Food:** I've added two new foods: hot dogs and popcorn! Well, it's sort of popcorn. After doing some research, I found that in real life, some popcorn-like foods can be made by popping seeds instead of corn. So instead of PopCORN, I've added PopTORCH, made by placing Torchflower Seeds on a campfire. The recipes for these will appear when picking up the seeds and a steak respectively.
- Advancements:** Firstly, there's one brand new advancement to go with the old "Overpowered" advancement I added back into the game. This one is "Over-overpowered," and you get it if you find an Enchanted Diamond Apple in an End City! Also, some vanilla advancements have been fixed so that they won't be activated if you get a Vanilla+ item. For example, the "Suit Up" advancement will now only be activated if you make Iron Armor, not Copper Armor.
One last thing: after several months, **I've finally updated Vanilla++!** It adds two more structures: Abandoned Campsites! If you're interested in using Vanilla+ on a server that's not Minecraft Realms, be sure to download Vanilla++ for the extra structures! Okay, not much has changed with this, but ideally all issues with Crafting should be resolved, as the data pack now uses its own namespace instead of residing in Minecraft's namespace. That may not mean much to most of you, but basically it means that **compatibility with other mods and data packs should be much less of an issue now**!
Additionally, there's been a couple small Advancement tweaks; you now no longer receive both the Diamond and Emerald Armor advancements if you craft Emerald Armor first, and the Monster Hunter advancement icon has been reverted to its Vanilla icon instead of the bone I had changed it to. That's it!

- Spears:** New weapon type added! These have low attack power and low durability, but high attack speed and attack range. Ideal for crowd control, if there are several enemies coming towards you, take out a Spear and start stabbing! The weakest is the Battlestaff, which is just 3 sticks in a diagonal line. It offers no extra attack power. Then, Gold, Resin, and Quartz spears offer +2 power but with a measly 50 durability. Iron, Copper, and Amethyst spears have +1.5 power but with better durability, then it upgrades again with Diamond and Emerald spears, and finally the Netherite Spear is the most powerful at +3 attack power and 200 durability.
- Removals:** I've decided to remove Medallions and Scrolls. Instead, these recipes are now naturally unlocked like other Minecraft recipes are, by picking up certain materials. Alternatively, if you want to skip straight to having the recipes for certain items, I've added /trigger commands that unlocks different recipe categories. This is different from the Creative Mode function commands I added in the last update, as these can be used in Survival. They're entirely optional; if you want to discover everything naturally I highly recommend it, but if you just wanna start playing around, unlock everything from the beginning!
- Misc. Changes:** the Nether Star Sword has been fixed so that it will mine bamboo and other sword-specific blocks correctly again. Also, this one isn't really a change and instead more of a teaser: I'm going to be looking into a way to dye things like Elytra, Bundles, and Books without losing their data and enchantments. It may mean I have to use Smithing Tables, but it would definitely be better than resetting each item. Mojang, if you're reading this, **MAKE IT SO THE TRANSMUTE CRAFTING OPTION CAN SUPPORT MULTIPLE INGREDIENTS!!!**

Lots of new content in this update for you all, and it's for the soon-to-be-released Java Edition 1.21.5!
- Creative Mode Functions:** Several people have been requesting this, and I've added several functions accessible with the /function command that will deposit items from the pack on the ground nearby! There's one for hats, for food, for gear, and for extra items. There's also a function for revealing the unique dye combinations for Books, Elytra, and Bundles. I may make that accessible in Survival Mode in the future as well! I did NOT make functions for getting every single dyed variant of Elytra, Books, and Bundles because those are mostly easy to figure out on their own. Let me know if I should!
- Food:** Two new food items, the Fried Egg and Toast, are new in this update! Fried Eggs can be crafted by putting any time of Chicken egg on a campfire, and Toast can be made by putting a single Wheat on a campfire.
- Gear & Hat Changes:** Any issues previously present with Nether Star Gear should be worked out now! Nether Star Pickaxes now have +50 Mining Efficiency, meaning that with Efficiency V and a Haste II Beacon, you can now insta-mine deepslate! Additionally, the Copper Chestplate now gives 5 armor points, making the whole set just a little weaker than Iron Armor. Amethyst Gear is also now made just by putting an Amethyst Shard in a Smithing Table with Netherite Gear. This is to streamline the crafting process. Finally, there is a new hat based on _The Legend of Zelda_: the Cap of Awakening!
- Final Misc. Changes:** The food, armor, and tools in the recipe book will now be more accurate to how recipes in the game are laid out in Vanilla. Unfortunately this does mean that you may have to use Medallions and Scrolls again to get these recipes back, but my brain made me have to arrange them correctly, so, sorry. One other thing: the "A Balanced Diet" advancement now includes all custom food items, making it a much trickier advancement to complete.
