Verity JE Extra
An addon for Verity JE that adds a Verity JE Extra tab to Verity's own config screen. Everything is off by default and gated behind its own toggle.
Nothing here replaces Verity JE. It's a drop-in addon: install both, and a new tab appears in Verity's existing settings menu.
Showcase
Shaderpack: Complementary Reimagined r5.8.1, default settings (shadow render distance 32).

What's added to Verity JE
Things Verity JE doesn't do on its own at all.
Offline Voice — swap the voice behind Verity's built-in CPU speech engine for a Piper model of your own. Fully offline, no server, no API key, no internet connection needed. Click "Import .onnx..." to pick a model file (with its matching tokens.txt and espeak-ng-data folder alongside it), and Verity's own local engine loads it in place of the bundled voice.
fish.audio support — a second Cloud Voice layout built specifically for fish.audio, which Verity has no support for at all. Turn it on and the group narrows to just an API key and a voice model ID; the endpoint and engine model are filled in automatically.
Host Mode — for playing with friends. Normally, every player's game generates Verity's line independently, so one sentence gets paid for once per player and comes back sounding slightly different each time. With Host Mode on, whoever is hosting the world generates each line once and streams the audio live to everyone nearby, so it costs a single request and everyone hears the same take at roughly the same moment. Your API key never leaves the host's machine — only the endpoint, model, and voice are shared.
What's improved from Verity JE
Things Verity JE already has, done more flexibly or fixed outright.
Chat — Verity's own "AI Provider" setting is a fixed dropdown, and for most of those choices the real endpoint is hardcoded internally regardless of what's typed into Verity's own endpoint field. This override gives Verity's chat a genuinely free-form OpenAI-compatible endpoint, API key, and model name, working the same way no matter which provider Verity's own dropdown happens to be set to.
Cloud Voice — Verity's own cloud voice options hardcode Groq's endpoint, or skip authentication entirely for Kokoro. This override takes over speech with its own endpoint, API key, model, and voice, and works no matter what Verity's own TTS Provider setting is or whether its own "Use TTS" switch is even on.
Version coverage — one download works across Verity 6, 6.1, 6.2 Beta 1, and the 6.0.0-beta releases, instead of needing to match a specific Verity version.
Requirements
- Verity JE 6.0 or newer
- YACL (Yet Another Config Lib) 3.6+ — already required by Verity JE, so nothing extra to install if Verity already works
Where to find it
Open Verity's config screen as usual — a Verity JE Extra tab now appears at the end. Each override is its own tickbox; the fields underneath stay locked until you turn it on, and nothing in Verity's own config file is touched unless you do.
Good to know
- Voice input (speech-to-text) isn't covered by any of these overrides — it still runs on Verity's own settings.
- Interrupting Verity mid-sentence doesn't cut audio short yet; a new line of speech still replaces whatever's currently playing.
- Host Mode is new and still being tested against real multiplayer sessions.
Currently in beta. Report anything that breaks.
All Versions
+ Add Version- Host Mode.** Playing with friends used to mean everyone's game generated Verity's line
different for each of them. Turn on Host Mode and the person hosting the world generates it once
and streams the audio live to everyone else, so it costs a single request, everyone hears the
same take, and it arrives at essentially the same moment for everyone.
- Find it under **Multiplayer** in the Verity JE Extra tab. Turn it on only on the machine
- Members do not need to set anything up. The host also shares its endpoint, model and voice.
- Your API key is never sent to anyone.** Only the host ever contacts the provider.
- Friends without this addon are unaffected and keep working as before.
- Talk To Verity In Hand.** Chatting normally does nothing while Verity is packed away rather than
selected in your hotbar, or your off hand. The conversation is private: nobody else can trigger a
reply from your boxed Verity, and nobody else sees the reply or hears him speak.
- Muffle Verity In Inventory.** A second toggle, only active once the one above is on, that lets
either hand, with his voice muffled through this addon's own Chat and Cloud Voice audio to match.
Only affects audio this addon generates itself; his own native voice has no equivalent hook to
muffle it with. Updates live mid-sentence too — move the box in or out of your hand while he's
still talking and it changes how he sounds right away.
- Pick him up while he's talking.** Verity used to refuse this outright with an error and a sound.
- Fixed since first written:** the host's own connection could get dropped mid-line and close the
produced text with no voice and no talking animation (an internal redirect had a syntax mistake
and silently never applied); joining a world with Verity already packed away from an earlier
session showed a raw internal error as his reply instead of a real answer, since there was no
entity to answer with yet — that now gets a short in-character line asking to be let out at least
once first, instead; and a member could see Verity's text but never hear him under Host Mode when
the world was shared through **Essential's Shared Party/Server** specifically, since that kind of
peer-to-peer relay silently drops messages above a size a direct connection would carry without
issue. Audio slices are now a quarter of their previous size to fit comfortably under that. All
confirmed fixed from actual play sessions, not just re-checked in the code. Host Mode takes effect
when players next join; everyone needs the same version installed, since a mismatch is exactly
what could reintroduce a "sees text but not TTS" problem again. Best suited to worlds hosted from
your own game, such as through e4mc or Essential.
- Requires:** Verity 6 through the 6.0.0-beta releases, YACL 3.6+
Beta release — please report anything odd!
Same features as beta.3, now working across every Verity 6.x release from a single download,
including the 6.0.0-beta versions.
- Works with:** Verity 6, 6.1, 6.2 Beta 1, and the 6.0.0-beta releases. YACL 3.6+.
- No more picking the right download.** Verity renamed an internal package partway through 6.x,
uses whichever your Verity has.
- Fixes the mod refusing to load on 6.0.0-beta versions.** Those version numbers are read as
incompatible even though it would have worked.
- Removed the "Skip Verity's Intro" option.** Verity's own "Play Intro Video" setting already
ignored and safe to delete.
- If your config screen crashes when you open it:** that is an outdated YACL, not this addon.
Beta release — please report anything odd!
Adds **fish.audio** as a Cloud Voice provider, and fixes the Cloud Voice override so it works no
matter how Verity's own speech settings are configured.
- fish.audio Cloud Voice.** Turn on "Use Fish.Audio Layout" and Cloud Voice narrows to two
left to fish.audio so it keeps following their current default. Paste the ID of a voice you
cloned yourself and Verity speaks with it.
- Cloud Voice now overrides every TTS Provider.** Previously it only took effect when Verity's
over whatever Verity is set to, and no longer needs Verity's "Use TTS" turned on.
- Skip Verity's Intro.** A new Miscellaneous option that stops the intro video on the title
- The Cloud Voice layout now changes as soon as you flip the tickbox, instead of waiting until you
- Fixed:** fish.audio played silence, then played loud stuttering noise once that was sorted. Both
each other, and now replace one another cleanly.
- Requires:** Verity JE 6.0 or newer (tested on 6.0 and 6.1), YACL 3.6+
Fixes the addon for **Verity JE 6**, which renamed the classes this addon hooks into (beta.1 won't load on Verity 6 at all). Same three overrides as beta.1, rebuilt against Verity 6.
- Verity 6 added its own AI Provider dropdown, but four of its six providers (Groq, OpenRouter, Mistral, Gemini) hardcode or ignore whatever endpoint you type in — this addon's Chat override still gives you a genuinely free-form OpenAI-compatible endpoint regardless of what Verity's own dropdown lets you type
- Cloud Voice override rebuilt the same way — Verity 6's own cloud voice still has no keyed custom-endpoint option (Groq's endpoint is hardcoded, Kokoro sends no key at all)
- Requires:** Verity JE 6.0+, YACL 3.6+
First beta. Adds a **Verity JE Extra** tab to Verity's own config screen with three optional overrides — each behind its own toggle, off by default.
- Chat** — point Verity's AI at any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (OpenRouter, a local server, etc.) instead of the built-in providers
- Cloud Voice** — give Verity's cloud text-to-speech its own endpoint, key, model and voice, separate from chat
- Offline Voice** — swap Verity's built-in CPU voice for your own Piper model, fully offline, no key needed
- Requires:** Verity JE 5.0+, YACL 3.6+ (already required by Verity, so nothing extra to grab)
- Known limitations:**
- Voice input (speech-to-text) isn't covered — still uses Verity's own settings
- Cloud Voice only kicks in when Verity's Native/Local TTS options are off
- Set Verity's own AI Provider to GROQ if you want Cloud Voice working — it refuses to run on OpenRouter
