Worlds lets a Fabric server run as many worlds as it wants, the way Multiverse does on Paper. Create, list, delete and teleport between worlds with in-game commands, and give each one its own time, weather and game rules. Every world plays like real vanilla Minecraft, down to the End dragon, which also makes Worlds a base other mods build their dimensions on. Worlds from World Manager or Multiworld can be recreated with one command each.
|
World types
|
- The End dragon fight, portals, maps and ender pearls work in every world you create, not only in the original three.
- Own weather and time. Vanilla
/weatherand/timerun inside a world change only that world. - Own game rules. Keep inventory, PvP, mob spawning, daylight and more, set with vanilla
/gameruleinside the world. Rules you leave alone follow the server, and/gamerule <rule> inherithands one back. With Worlds installed on the client, the Game Rules screen shows which rules the world changed. - Nothing new to learn. No extra commands for weather, time or rules, and the Overworld, Nether and End behave exactly as in vanilla.
- Load on demand. A world loads when a player enters it and unloads a minute after the last player leaves, so you can keep hundreds of worlds without paying for idle ones.
- Updated within a week of each Minecraft release. Worlds follows the newest Minecraft version; older versions stay on the Versions tab.
- A base for other mods. Mods register their own world types through the Worlds API and let Worlds handle creating, loading, saving and teleporting. Stargate is built on it; API.md has the guide and the Gradle setup.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/worlds create <id> [seed] |
Creates an overworld |
/worlds create <id> from-preset <preset> [dimension] [seed] |
Creates a world from a world preset, for example minecraft:flat or minecraft:amplified |
/worlds create <id> from-dimension <type> [seed] |
Creates a world of a dimension type, for example minecraft:the_nether or minecraft:the_end |
/worlds tp <id> [players] |
Teleports you or other players to a world's spawn |
/worlds list [loaded\|unloaded] |
Lists worlds; hover for details, click to teleport |
/worlds delete <id> |
Deletes a world after moving everyone out of it |
/worlds settings spawn [here\|<x> <y> <z>] |
Shows or sets the spawn of the world you are in |
/worlds settings loadOnStartup [true\|false] |
Shows or sets whether the world you are in loads when the server starts |
/gamerule <rule> <value> |
In a created world, sets a rule for that world only |
/gamerule |
In a created world, lists the rules the world changed |
/gamerule <rule> inherit |
In a created world, makes a rule follow the server again |
A world id without a namespace gets minecraft:, so /worlds create mining creates minecraft:mining. Run any command for another world with /execute in <world> run .... /worlds commands need operator level 3; /gamerule needs level 2, as in vanilla.
A resource world you can reset
/worlds create mining
/worlds tp mining
/worlds delete mining
/worlds create mining
A creative build world with no mobs and endless daylight
/worlds create build from-preset minecraft:flat
/worlds tp build
/gamerule spawn_mobs false
/gamerule advance_time false
/gamerule advance_weather false
A safe lobby where new players spawn
/worlds create lobby
/worlds tp lobby
/setworldspawn
/gamerule pvp false
/gamerule spawn_monsters false
Keep inventory only in an arena
/execute in minecraft:arena run gamerule keep_inventory true
Moving from World Manager or Multiworld: replace it with Worlds, then run /worlds create <id> from-dimension <type> <seed> with the id, type and seed each world had. Classic Overworld, Nether and End worlds are supported.

- Each created world can now have its own game rules. Change a rule with
/gameruleinside the world, and every rule you leave alone keeps following the server. In a created world,/gameruleon its own lists the rules the world changed, and/gamerule <rule> inheritmakes a rule follow the server again. - Keep inventory follows the world where you died, and the death screen, reduced debug info, time and weather follow the world you are in.
- With Worlds installed on your game, the Game Rules screen opened in a created world shows in each rule's tooltip whether the world set it, uses the server's value, or is server-wide.
### Changed
- In a created world,
/gamerulenow changes the rule only for that world, and its message names the world. The Overworld, Nether and End keep sharing the server's rules, and the rules for command feedback, admin command logging and command limits stay server-wide.
### Fixed
- Fixed a rare crash, "Exception generating new chunk", when several worlds generate villages or other structures at the same time, for example right after creating new worlds or starting the server.
- A new
/worlds listcommand shows every world on the server, loaded worlds in green and unloaded ones in gray. Hover over a world to see its type, whether it loads on startup, whether it holds the world spawn and who is in it, and click it to get its teleport command ready in chat. Listing never loads an unloaded world.
- Teleporting to the Overworld while the world spawn is in another world now lands at the Overworld's own spawn, inside its world border, instead of at the other world's coordinates.
- A world that holds the world spawn (set with
/execute in <world> run setworldspawn) no longer unloads and reloads every minute while it is empty. It now stays loaded. - Deleting the world that holds the world spawn moves the spawn back to the Overworld, to the spot the game originally picked, instead of leaving it pointing at a world that no longer exists.
- Players in a world that is being deleted are sent to the world spawn, even when it is in another extra world. Before, they landed in the Overworld at that world's coordinates.
- Deleting a world while it is unloading now deletes it, instead of reporting success and keeping it.
- Map markers spin only on maps of Nether-like worlds, as in the vanilla Nether. Before, they spun on Overworld and End maps instead.
- Maps and dimension-change advancements no longer load an unloaded extra world just to check what kind of world it is.
- Players who were offline when their world was deleted now return at world spawn instead of their old coordinates in the Overworld.
- The sky no longer flickers to the Overworld's time in worlds that keep their own time.
- Works with Worldthreader: opening or creating a world no longer freezes the server, and worlds that keep their own time tick in parallel again.
- Scheduled functions no longer run a second time on an extra world's clock.
- With Iris shader packs such as Complementary, worlds with a Nether-like dimension type now use the pack's Nether shaders. Before, they got its Overworld shaders, with a sky, clouds and daylight. This covers any extra world that uses the vanilla Nether dimension type and Nether-like dimensions from other mods, such as Stargate's Melted.

ServerLevelProvider.createLevelStem, a recovery hook called only when a world's stored generator could not be read. A provider whose generation is determined by the world id and seed can rebuild one there instead of the world being skipped.mc-worlds:defaultdoes not implement it.
### Fixed
- A world whose stored generator cannot be decoded no longer loses it. The undecodable
level_stemis kept as-is and written back unchanged, so the world recovers once whatever supplied that generator is present again. Such a world is skipped with an error in the log if its provider cannot rebuild a generator, instead of failing server startup andMinecraftServer.getLevel.
