**Afterburner 0.2.4 (Fabric 26.3)**
The server side of Afterburner comes to Fabric 26.3. Every option can be turned off in the settings, and Afterburner steps aside for mods that do the same job.
**Measured** (dedicated server, same world and seed, median of 6 runs; lower is better)
| Server tick time | Vanilla | Afterburner |
|---|---|---|
| Empty world | 0.54 ms | 0.46 ms |
| 400 cows | 4.29 ms | 3.08 ms |
| 1,800 idle hoppers | 1.06 ms | 0.63 ms |
| 1,800 stuck hoppers | 1.67 ms | 0.77 ms |
Checked against vanilla on the same server: hoppers, item pickup, furnaces, brewing, waking hoppers four ways, zombies and turtle eggs, and `/locate` all end the same. The new terrain noise matches vanilla bit for bit (225 million values checked).
**New, on by default**
- Sleeping idle hoppers, and hoppers that remember the containers around them.
- Faster terrain noise, fluids, pathfinding, entity tracking and item merging; a chunk cache.
- `/locate structure` from a player runs off the server thread, so the server doesn't freeze while it searches.
- Chunk packets made once and shared between players who see the same chunk, and packed faster.
- Cheaper light snapshots and reused chunk save buffers: about a third less garbage while exploring (367 to 242 MB/s), fewer long GC pauses (67 to 48 over 20 ms).
- On a server, players on a slow connection get a smaller view and stronger packing ("smaller view for slow connections"). `/afterburner net` shows what each player is sent.
**New, off by default**
- Chunk link (between an Afterburner game and an Afterburner server; on for servers, off in the game, not yet tested end to end between a real game and server), simpler AI for far-away mobs, dropped item lifetime and merge range by dimension, idle structure templates, upload budget.
**Tested**: real client launches into a world alone, with Sodium + Iris, and with Distant Horizons, ImmediatelyFast, C2ME, Entity Culling, FerriteCore, Iris, Lithium and Sodium together; real players with and without Afterburner joining an Afterburner server; no errors.
