## 0.5.0
### Built-in model
- Pollution is now **Soot**, **Fumes**, **Sulfur** and **Water**, in a ground and an aloft layer.
Sources have an emission profile (`combustion`, `smelting`, `engine`, `clean`, `oil`).
- Aloft pollution spreads further, drifts with a slowly changing wind and settles back down.
- Rain washes sulfur out of the air into the water. Contaminated water stalls crops.
- **Acid rain** where sulfur is high. Withers plants, turns farmland to dirt, weathers copper,
leaves Acidic Runoff puddles, stings players without a helmet. Each part can be turned off.
- New `integration.mode`: `POTR` (default, falls back to `BUILT_IN` without PoTR), `BUILT_IN`, or
the experimental `POTR_AND_BUILT_IN`. Only one model runs unless the experimental mode is picked.
In `POTR` mode the built-in model is off and Smog's machines, gauges and the respirator work on
PoTR's pollution. PoTR's classes are never loaded without it, and if the integration fails Smog
falls back to the built-in model.
### Exhaust
- The Flue is now the **Smokestack**. Short stacks keep exhaust local; tall stacks put up to 85%
aloft. A covered stack is blocked. Stacks smoke from the top.
- **Exhaust Duct**: carries exhaust from a source to a remote smokestack. Leaks at the intake,
with smoke, when broken. Routes are cached.
- **Electrostatic Precipitator**: kinetic filter for the exhaust line. Catches soot as Soot and
Industrial Dust; with water it also washes out sulfur as Acidic Runoff.
- Oily exhaust condenses as Waste Oil in the stack base.
### Waste fluids
- **Industrial Wastewater**, **Clarified Water**, **Acidic Runoff**, **Waste Oil**,
**Industrial Sludge**, **Refined Oil**, all with buckets and treatment recipes.
- Wet Air Scrubbers now return their water as Industrial Wastewater. Washing crushed ores and
coking charcoal produce waste too.
- **Sludge Cake** and **Industrial Dust** as the solid end of the loop.
- **Oil Burner**: a Create heater for basins and boilers. Dirty on Waste Oil, clean on Refined Oil
and common `c:` fuels.
### Machines
- **Smog Sensor**: redstone 0 to 15 for air, soot, sulfur or ground water. Smoothed, no flicker.
- Aerometer shows soot and sulfur, and warns under acid rain.
### Fixes
- **5x5 panels now reach the sky.** Placement used the clicked face for the axis, so a wall built
by hand often had mismatched members and never formed. Scrubbers now take the axis of the panel
they are placed against. Goggles show progress towards 25 and any mismatched blocks. A full
panel works a 5x5 area of chunks and cleans the aloft layer, with a visible beam.
- Blaze Burners never polluted. They now pollute lightly, scaled by heat.
- Plant damage and crop stalling never happened, because the surface check hit leaves first.
- `coal_from_soot` ignored its heat requirement.
### Upgrading
Worlds and configs from 0.4 load as they are. Old chunk values are split into the new kinds.
`integration.deferToPollutionOfTheRealms` is replaced by `integration.mode`; its default matches
the old default. If you had set it to `false`, set `mode` yourself. The `flue` section is now
`smokestack`.
