# Remnants: RPG Mobs 3.0.0: Blood and Valor
RPG Mob Leveling System is now **Remnants: RPG Mobs**, part of the Remnants family next to Remnant Bosses and a
companion to RPG Attribute System. 3.0 is a full rebuild: mobs no longer just get a number, they get a level, a
rank, traits, a nameplate worth reading and rewards worth fighting for. Worlds and configs from 2.x carry over.
Available for Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3 on Fabric (needs Fabric API) and NeoForge (Forge on
1.20.1).
## Levels
- **Threat** replaces the old formulas: distance from spawn (one level per 128 blocks, counted in Overworld blocks
so the Nether is not a shortcut), world age (one level per 4 days, up to 15), depth (one level per 12 blocks
below Y 32, up to 8), the dimension's band and structure minimums (ancient city 40, end city 50, bastion 30 and
more). `/remnants threat` shows the breakdown where you stand.
- **RPG Attribute System**: players within 64 blocks pull mob levels a third of the way toward their RAS level.
Without RAS you can use vanilla experience levels or leave players out.
- New, gentler percent-based attribute rules: +6% health, +3% damage, +0.15 armor, +0.3% speed per level, each
capped. Any attribute can be added, modded ones included. Modifiers have fixed ids, so stats never stack and
base stats are never changed.
- Leveled ranged mobs scale their arrows, tridents and fireballs.
- Tamed and passive mobs are left alone, bosses show a level without being scaled, and entity tags or config
lists keep any mob out.
## Ranks
- Every hostile mob rolls a rank: **Veteran**, **Elite**, **Champion** or **Remnant**, each tougher and better
paid than the last. Rarer ranks unlock at higher levels and become likelier as levels rise; monster spawners
roll them at a quarter of the rate.
- **Remnants**, one in a few thousand, get a generated title ("Vorgrim the Hollow"), a boss bar, a horn when they
appear near you, and a server-wide message when they fall.
- Rank and trait scoreboard tags for datapacks (`remnant_mobs.elite`, `remnant_mobs.trait.vampiric`, ...).
## Traits
- 16 traits: Vampiric, Frostbite, Infernal, Venomous, Withering, Berserk, Crushing, Juggernaut, Thornskin, Warded,
Regenerating, Deflecting, Swift, Blinking, Packleader and Volatile. Ranked mobs get one to four.
- Each trait has its own sounds and particles where it matters: the Warded shield shatters and regrows, Blinking
mobs vanish and reappear behind you, Packleaders howl for help, Volatile corpses hiss before they blow.
- Every trait can be turned off, reweighted, restricted to higher ranks or kept off specific mobs.
## Nameplates and HUD
- New nameplates: rank crest, level coloured against **your** level (grey, green, white, yellow, orange, and red
with a skull for anything 15 levels above you), name in the rank colour, a health bar with a draining damage trail, and
traits up close. Drawn with a bitmap font, so they look the same on every version.
- The Hunter's Lens shows the threat of the area while held and a full stat sheet of any mob through its scope.
- A moon icon while a Hunter's Moon is up.
- The 2.x floating numbers and the Neat and Jade hooks are gone; plates replace them.
## Rewards
- Experience grows with level (+4% per level) and rank (x2 to x10).
- Elite and better roll their loot table again; ranked mobs drop **Remnant Shards**. Extra loot and shards need a
player in the kill.
- **Valor** with RAS: ranked kills pay bonus Valor scaled by rank and level, more for fighting above your level and
much less for farming far below it. Shards absorb into Valor, or experience without RAS.
## New items
- **Remnant Shard**: absorb for Valor or experience; sneak to absorb the stack. Animated texture.
- **Hunter's Lens** (spyglass + 4 shards): threat readout and mob stat sheets.
- **Brand of Challenge** (echo shard + 8 shards): raise a mob one rank, five levels and at least one trait, for
double rewards.
## Hunter's Moon
- Some full moons (35%) rise as a Hunter's Moon: until dawn, mobs spawn 5 levels higher, ranks are twice as
likely and shards drop twice as often. `/remnants moon` for status; operators can start and stop it.
## Progression
- 10 advancements on their own tab, from *Know Thy Enemy* to *A Remnant's End*.
## Commands and config
- `/remnants` (alias `/rml`): `threat`, `inspect`, `spawn`, `set` (level, rank, traits, reroll, clear), `moon`,
`reload`.
- Five commented JSON files in `config/remnant_mobs/` (`levels`, `ranks`, `traits`, `rewards`, `client`). Every
key is explained in the file, missing keys come back on their own, and `/remnants reload` applies changes.
- `RemnantMobsApi` for other mods.
## Upgrading from 2.x
- The mod id is now `remnant_mobs`. Remove the old jar; the two cannot be installed together.
- Settings in `config/rpgmoblevelingsystem/` are carried over on first start (dimension levels, distance factor,
player scaling, attribute rules, banned mobs and namespaces, level locks, structure minimums). The old folder is
left as it was.
- Mobs leveled by 2.x keep their level and get the new modifiers in place of the old one. Ascendant elites become
Elites.
- The Calendar item is removed.
